I'd be guessing, but I'd say we're probably spending around $800/month on groceries with a family of 5. That includes groceries, household products, and costco stuff.
To me that seems really high, but I think I'm stuck in 2003 when it comes to grocery costs.

I spend about $150/mo for groceries. Cleaning/household supplies are in separate.

We spend approximately $400 per month for two people, which is food and household items. We also spend approximately $40 per month at the liquor store for wine and beer.
I feel guilty for not going to Aldi's, but I don't want to get half my groceries there and then have to go to the regular grocery store to get the rest of my list. They are building a Lidl in town and it looks bigger than the Aldi, so I plan to try there if they have everything on my list in one stop.

One of the best things about where I live is the convenience of grocery stores. There is an Aldi ( just recently remodeled) right as I exit my neighborhood. I start my weekly shopping there. Then I go to Walmart that is 2 blocks away and super easy to get in an out of. There is also a Publix 1 block the other way. I sometimes go to Publix if I need only a few items, or some specialty items. I usually spend $100 a week for food and household items for 2 adults and 2 dogs. Dog food averages about $10 per week.

I budget $650/ for two adults. Food only. I have a separate category for household items. Sometimes I can spend less without cutting out anything, but $650 is a pretty good average. Pacific Northwest area We are probably in this range too. Around $400 at the grocery store, another $200+ at Costco. I probably should keep better track of things.

I never had before a couple of months ago, it was enlightening. If I had to I could do a lot better with meal planning and purchasing ingredients. My meals are more like what do I feel like fixing for us today, or if DD or hubs wants something.
We were going to go out to eat, then I thought, why bother. I threw shrimp in to thaw, will fix a salad, and then for desert bake some orange and cinnamon rolls. Everybody liked what I'm going to have so a plus. We were wanting ice cream but the baked rolls will be fine.

Thanks for staring this conversation, laterbloomer. I also like these types of threads. For years I've input business and personal expenses into an Excel spreadsheet. Starting this year, I broke down our grocery store/WW spending into two categories: Food/water and HBA/paper. It's enlightening how much I spend on things we can't eat. My goal used to be $300/mo.* With it broken down like this, for Jan/Feb I spent an average of $280.44 on food and $67 on the other. The latter is the category where I include sales tax. I also have a line item for dining out/coffee and one for entertainment, which includes booze. We go to Sam's a few times a year, and haven't yet in 2019.
*Side note: DH buys things throughout the month for his lunches, based on his mood, LOL. I'd say he spends an average of $60 or so on dried fruit, protein bars, lunch meat, nuts, etc. It's just the two of us, and no pets to feed.

I think it ended up around $750, I was not keeping track as much the last week. It's just good to know.

Just went on my first grocery store trip of March. $55.28. This month will be a little lighter as I'm trying to go through everything in the freezer so I can defrost it. I doubt I will buy any meat this month. I didn't today.

At my house we have 2 adults and 2 teens who are 18, and then my daughters boyfriend hangs around here a lot as well. I spend about $1200 a month on groceries. That does include cleaning products, toilet paper, etc. We spend another $400-$500 eating out a month... Unfortunately, we do end up wasting a lot of food. Things go bad because I get bored with cooking....or I am too tired...etc. We really have to do better in that area.

I'm going to keep track of what I spend here for the month because now I'm curious. Since I'm not buying meat, I think I'll probably end up coming out $30-50 ahead.

Well we have enough money for everything else so what does it matter? That includes cleaning products, TP, paper towels, and things like sushi which we buy a lot of about $7 a container. But DD likes it and its low calorie so I will buy it anytime she asks. I even buy the dog fried gizzards and livers from the deli at times. Maybe $2 a container, DD and I eat those too or give them to him. So some items in there we like.
I am going to watch it again this month and see. She spent $40 of her own money for lots of tomato soup, cheese crackers, tuna kits, Big Lots has good prices on this stuff, like $2 less per container, and peaches for her lunches and home lunches. We buy Blue Belle Ice Cream 3 or 4 times a month at $6.99 a half gallon and lots of fresh veggies. By the end of this month I expect to spend around $300 at the butcher for beef, pork, and chicken, but it will last a few months. And I spent $10 for roses and $7 for DD flowers so that's in the costs too, lots of extras.

Welp we just got home from the grocery store and we are off to a roaring start in March. $115. Ouch. We did stock up on a bunch of stuff and got tp and paper plates. And a couple health and beauty items. Oh, and wine! Let’s not forget the important stuff, LOL.
I’ll be interested to see if we can keep it to $500 this month. Fingers crossed we don’t go significantly over.

TD is at Costco right now. I sent him to pick up my contacts, dog food, half and half and butter. My contacts are paid for, so I'm guessing $150. He is waaaay worse than me in picking up things from Costco.

But if he wasn't bad about that we wouldn't know the joy of crackberries! I was the one who told HIM about crackberries and turned him into the local pusher. I had gone on a girl's spa weekend with friends, and they brought them with us to the rental we had. One night, the 4 of us drank 5 bottles of wine and went through a bag and a half of crackberries.

I agreed to split a half a cow with my sister in law, so it will cost about $500 for approx 100 pounds of beef. I have no idea how long that will take to eat or how it will prorate into my monthly grocery spending.

I've spent $15.31 so far this month. $2.85 was an impulse chocolate attack earlier this week, and the rest was a planned trip last night. DH is going tout of town so I bought a few bachelorette things I rarely indulge in. Between sale items and e-coupons, I saved 26%.
