So 1) can’t find where she actually did what you said.
But if she had, 2) she is one person.
And 3) hell, I’d start there too... if the right has taught us anything in the past few decades it that coming in at the center only pushes the center right. Let’s pull that knot back the other way a bit, shall we?

Maybe Pelosi can find out who trump's baby sitter is and the tot's White House handlers and Pelosi can share the cost.

not to belabor the point, but a 70% tax rate would not be unprecedented. it was 94% during the 50's. you know....when the economy routinely grew 5-10% annually?

I don't understand why the rich needed the tax cut in the first place. Meanwhile, after removing the personal exemption and doubling the standard deduction, I am actually paying thousands more in taxes than I did last year. And I am as middle of the road middle class as you can get.
It about time the rich get screwed!

Took all i had this week not to ask my father, who was doing end of year check in and planning with his finance guys, how an extra 15% of a big fat fucking zero was working for him... But this likely would not have served me well ... so i kept my mouth shut

Which was basically all she said, although it was 60s when it was 60-70% she mentioned... mostly she was talking about a progressive tax and how it was not fair to give more tax cuts to the upper limits... there was no advocating a 70% tax bracket... but who the hell cares about facts these days? Or actually reading the things you post beyond the headline and for comprehension.

I don't know how to respond. What do you think people will be upset with her about?

Don't. VB's post is trash. She's a woman that will not be needing a babysitter.

I don't disagree with her. I think she is a bright young woman, hope she doesn't lose all that enthusiasm.

With everything foolish the right is trying to pin on her she's likely going to end up president. If it wasn't for this nonsense no one would know who she was. Now everyone left of Cruz is a fan.

Not anymore, its pretty much a loss for last year, don't have to worry about paying taxes like that in the future unless they really lower the taxable amount. We would have if hubs was still working, was only high last year because we sold an almost fully depreciated property at a profit, that will be the last one. Nothing up here will sell for a profit, be lucky to get our money back out of them when we sell, we knew that going in, is why we didn't buy expensive houses.

No, I don't think so. we are just making sure we can afford to live the rest of our lives from what we saved is all. Income is not what it used to be.
I'm tweeking expenses and budgets to maximize what we have and to be able to live. Hope to be successful. I like having a nice standard of living, believe me we paid our fair share and then some and sacrificed a lot to do so. We are still paying our fair share.

"At it again?" She is a Democratic Socialist, which in our two party system somehow finds refuge under the tent of the Democratic Party. However the positions of Democratic Socialists are distinctly to the left of those of most Democrats. A top marginal tax rate of 70% is not a position that is "out there" for them. Nor is it out there among advanced nations, nor is it unprecedented here. I don't see the surprise- or the big deal. Or a snowball's chance in hell of it going anywhere in the near future. Down the road a piece? Not at all far fetched. Are you under the mistaken impression that the OP was intended to engender discussion rather than just nip in to try to belittle someone?

every dollar i save in taxes this year (and it should be significant), i am putting into a foreign bank account (HSBC). shouldn't take long before i can buy a place in Europe.

I think it’s well proven now that any Repo-Con concerns about the Federal debt have just been so much smoke. They have supported every debt raising initiative of their Team, now in Phase III, since 1981.
So no, it shouldn’t bother any R.

I like her, wish her well and hope the new people like her can make some good changes. We certainly need some people who will look out for all the working class again.
