The store made a substitution on my ClickList order today. I ordered a small snack pack of fresh veggies. They were out and substituted a huge party platter of veggies for the same price. So this week I’ll be eating a ton more fresh veggies than normal. And I removed the ice cream that I had in the cart, so my laziness about not wanting to go shopping even if I’m craving junk food means this week’s food choices should be pretty healthy. I’ve even eaten some of the raw broccoli from the tray. That’s unheard of for me, I hate broccoli. Amazing what you’ll eat if you’re lazy and the food is free. I love broccoli, but some people don't. I think chiver78 roasts broccoli all the time. Maybe she has a recipe to dress it up that you might like.

I chop up a crown into florets, then toss in EVOO and typically garlic powder, crushed red pepper, fresh cracked black pepper, sometimes oregano. roast at 400 degrees for 10-15 minutes (I have a convection oven, adjust accordingly as needed). depending what else I'm eating with it, I may sprinkle some grated parm cheese after cooking.

Why are you being the food police? Wasn't aware that I was. Also not sure why you're so sensitive about what I am saying since I'm not addressing you. She wasn't asking for advice. She was posting about making a better choice she made. If I wanted to post at a place where everyone is going to nitpick what I eat I would post on the WW or MFP boards. Just because you don't eat mayo doesn't mean that tuna salad isn't a perfectly healthy meal in a many diet plans.

How dare I suggest something healthy. The horror! And again, since I never addressed you, I wasn't asking you for advice or an opinion. Pot, meet kettle.

Gym day #1 for me this week. I hope it's not too rough.
On a side note, I asked how long I was going to be out of the gym with the tummy tuck. They said I could get back to light exercise two weeks out. I could increase little by little as I heal. I detailed my gym routine and the fact that it's pretty high impact and they said I'd have to wait on the high impact stuff for a couple of months. That sucks, but I'll do it.

1/6: 1:30 regular planks, :15 each side planks . . 1/21: 2:15 regular planks, 1:00 each side planks
The 2:15 regular planks is so much easier than those side planks. They're killing me!

DH hates the smell of cooked broccoli so much that we're not allowed to cook it in the house unless he'll be gone a full 24 hours afterwards.

I did discover a few years ago that I love Brussels Sprouts roasted. I always hated them, and many other cooked veggies. My mother and grandmother’s preferred method of cooking vegetables was to boil them to death into a horrible, weird consistency. So if I ate any vegetables at all, they were typically raw. It was an eye opener to discover that a lot of vegetables could be cooked in an appetizing way. I par-boil them, and then roast them with champagne vinegar, garlic and Parmesan cheese. Heaven. How much vinegar? How long and at what temperature do you cook them? Thanks!

They didn't fit with the tone of the whole board...even in the day or two that I've been reading. I could have sworn it was like the WIRR board: Competition against yourself and thoughtful and polite suggestions when asked for. Instead, I got a Your Money kind of response on a WIR board. Disconcerting. lol.

It's that time of night...the time when my boredom would have me getting in my car and heading to Walgreens for ice cream and magazines. It wasn't long, sitting here, that I realized it's been more than five hours since I last ate...went to the kitchen and made dinner: tuna/egg salad w/mustand, mayo, and relish. SO much better for me than ice cream. This is a dwelling point for me. Over on Your Money, there was a thread about budget blowers. Ice cream and magazines are mine. Usually because of boredom. So, every day that I DON'T go buy them is a day of success for me. It means that I'm finding other ways to combat my boredom. It definitely helps that I'm getting up a bit earlier in the day which helps me realize that it's okay if I go to bed at 9pm...rather than 11pm or midnight. lol. The weather is crappy today. Storm Harper is trailing its way up the coast and the DelMarVa area is getting the tail end of the rain right now. I commend you for realizing your weak points and trying to do something about it, however small the adjustment may be. Do you have any coloring books at all? It may help curb that yen to go out and get ice cream and magazines when you're bored. Chill out with some doodles! I got some coloring books to have something to do following my hip surgery and just recently have been trying to color at night instead of playing on my phone.

I've actually rediscovered my love of reading. Last weekend, I plowed through two Jeffrey Archer novels...a little under 1000 pages in two days.

My back is messed up today. I can't decide if I did it at the gym or I slept funny or what. Probably both. I was doing deadlifts and felt a twinge in my back. I changed my form and powered through. Wondering if I didn't aggravate it. We'll see how I feel later. I just took some ibuprofen. Hopefully it helps.

My blood pressure was really high at my appointment today. I'm supposed to have my mom recheck it. It's been back to very low normal for quite a while, and never this high (152/90).

I parboil them until they're kind of semi-soft. Then drizzle with vinegar, hot pepper flakes, EVOO, and pop them into an oven at 350 until they caramelize. Then I add the cheese. I add the garlic just before they're done, so the garlic doesn't burn. Burnt garlic is pretty nasty.

Week 4 Goals January 21 - 27
Step Goal: 84,000 Calorie Consumption: 15,000
Abs/Core Days: 4 Arm Days: 2
Cardio Days: 4
On the "avoiding sugar" front: I made cheesecake for DD#2's birthday. I had a piece on Monday and a piece on today during lunch. Then, DH brought home chocolate cupcakes after school. Sigh. I'm going to skip dinner tonight.

I made it through the workout! Once I got going, I didn't notice any back pain. I came home and got directly into a hot shower. I feel much better now.

Anyone know of anything to get rid of migraines? My poor baby has them from time to time and she's had a lot lately. She went to the doctor, but the pills they gave her aren't really doing anything. I didn't know if anyone had any natural cures.

First, somehow I miscalculated. Adding 3 seconds a day isn't going to get me to 3 minutes by the end of the month. Changing to 4-5 additional seconds a day.
Second, wth is the point of planks?!? I don't feel anything in my core. The only thing I feel is my upper arms and shoulders, and there are more effective ways to work those.
