P&G TO RAISE PRICES ON PAMPERS, CHARMIN, & BOUNTYDan Sewell, AP Business Writer, On Monday April 25, 2011, 5:56 pm EDT CINCINNATI (AP) -- Shoppers could soon see higher prices for Pampers diapers, Charmin toilet paper and Bounty paper towels. Procter & Gamble Co. said Monday it raised U.S. list prices for those products because of rising costs for pulp, oil and gas. The Cincinnati-based consumer products maker informed retailers of increases last week. Retailers will decide how much of those price increases to pass along to shoppers. P&G said list prices for Pampers are up 7 percent on average, Pampers wipes up 3 percent, and Charmin and Bounty products up 5 percent. P&G said Luvs, its lower-priced diaper brand, remains unchanged. Paper products rival Kimberly-Clark Corp. said Monday it will raise prices, after reporting first-quarter net income fell 9 percent on rising costs. P&G reports third-quarter results Thursday. We all knew it was coming.

Dancin Understood you fine re: sales tax. However, we have ALWAYS had to pay cash OOP for that here in IL. For me the Blink deal works mostly because I use the stuff as I do not have the $4 peelie. Sounds like your CVS region is just catching up w/us. I guess I just have always had to be careful and take tax into consideration.
Mizbear SOOO agree w/increased prices, taxes and lesser sales, coupon and RR/EB deals.
My Targets & Walmarts are NOT super centers. My Dollar stores have very limited or NO frozen or refridge items and NEITHER has produce. A couple of my independent stores do have produce clearance. Only 1 store every has meat clearance and now the LOWEST they go is 30% off – used to be 50% off. Even the day old bakery outlets are up 10-20% in price.

Yep, I have heard that Huggies will be increasing in price as well. Thankfully we are on the downward cycle with diapers. I will be so glad when I don't have to hound these any more. My son can't use generic (we tried all brands) because he breaks out in a rash (my 1st son had no problem with any brand). He has started wearing big boy underwear in the evenings - no success, but at least he is interested!

Hi Bugsi, Good to see you post again! Dancinmama - I've found Renpure TMF tags at my WAGS a few weeks ago. I haven't checked again, since they remodeled the store. I read about P&Gs price increases a few weeks ago & decided its best to stock up while the going is good. Good thing I have enough Charmin t/p to last us the next 2 yrs. I was shocked to see that the new 9ct t/p now cost $7.xx at the GS!I found clearanced packs for $2.xx a coupla weeks ago & used the $1/2 Qs on it. Re Cottonelle deal at WAGS. I just saw on iheartwags that the Cottonelle CAT will be running at WAGS too (starting 5/1). So you should be able to get super cheap t/p

Hope everyone has a good day. dogmom: OMG. I don't get that. WHERE did you get it? In the past two years (well, not even because my CVS hasn't been open quite that long), I've used so many of those $4/$20s, I couldn't even begin to count them. They used to offer them in the local newspaper every single week and they didn't care how many of them we used - they just wanted people to come into the store and use them. I was in hound heaven.

Did you ever get those? Are they the same? The ones that I have are about the size of a business card.

Re Renpure: My DD's love that shampoo. My RA and WAGS had a $3 rebate tag, not a TMF tag. Darn. Dancin: Re Safeway clearance meat: guess what I've been seeing is making its way to you. There is hardly ever any clearance meat anymore. My last big score was the Hormel pork tenderloins: they were on sale 1/2 off and were marked $4.99. I had 4/$1 q's so I got each for $1.50! The one I cooked for Easter was a big one--7.5 lbs. They were on sale for $2.49 lb. in the Value Pack. We're using the leftovers for sandwiches this week! RE CVS: My cashiers haven't said anything to me about the q change. I love my CVS cashiers--they are so nice!

Dancin: Totally understand re sleep deprivation and hot flashes. I've been taking melatonin before going to bed and that has helped a lot. Now I can usually get @ 5 hours uninterrupted sleep. It's supposed to be eight but those darn hot flashes can overcome anything!

I am just going to have to buy meat at regular sales prices. I have been getting the 50% off lowest price marked on meats for so long that I have no clue what the rock bottom prices are any more. Maybe you could alert me when you see something in the ad that is what you feel is a REALLY GOOD price. I sure wish I had stockpiled more of the really cheap (but absolutely delicious) pork chops. The next time I see the head butcher at Safeway, I am going to ask him IF they're just not doing it any more or what.

I understand - I hate pills too. I used to talk the doctor out of prescribing any pills for me and ask them what food had those things and would eat those, but since I don't eat meat, I am out of luck for the iron pills and just try to take them when I remember. I eat a ton of greens though to make up.

We all knew it was coming. Good thing I got some free Bounty this week. Which remind me of something I was going to share... I didn't actually have paper towels on my list of items that I'm working on stocking up on. But I found that the Bounty BOGO single rolls worked best along with other items I was buying this week, to obtain for free. I think that's part of being a good hounder - taking advantage of what deals work best. We have to be a bit flexible & roll with the punches. That's something that I have to work at. I find it easier to have a list & go with that. But, you know how it is - something isn't available at the store, so I have to "wing" a new scenario on the fly. I often get a little nervous with those on-the-fly scenario's, but I seem to be getting better at 'em.

This is probably going to sound funny, but...
I am SICK of buying free razors!!!!!!
LOL...I know, I should not be complaining...lol...but I was looking ahead to this Sunday (5/1) at Rite Aid, and I have put together 4 transactions for myself. I'm groaning, but it's what I need to do to get everything free, plus roll my UPs from 1 transaction to the next to keep my OOP at just change.
I think I am heading to hounding burnout.

First it was the Fusion, then the Fusion Phantom (or something like that), then the Fusion MVP, then the Fusion Gamer, and now the Fusion Proglide has come out. All of us on the GC were buying razors ALL THE TIME. Regarding burnout: Yep, it can happen, especially when you are constantly doing deals to roll and/or increase how many rewards you are holding; but most or all of the stuff you have to buy is stuff that you don't use. And the longer you stockpile, the more frequently it is the case. I also feel a sense of "burnout" (or just lack of enthusiasm) when I have an "encounter" with a negative coupon Nellie cashier (which CAN happen to me at Safeway) or when the deals consistently just seem to not work the way they're supposed to (coupons beeping, rewards not printing, lack of stock for a great deal, etc.) - which is why I've given myself permission to take a RA break until 6/11 when my current UPs expire. Whenever I feel like I'm approaching burnout, I pull back a little bit. I'll find an efficient way to get out of WAGs and/or Rite Aid. The only drug chain that I constantly feel a little bit tied to is CVS because the EBs have a 30 day expiration AND once you retire a card (use all of its EBs) it is hard to get "back in the game" with little or no actual OOP.

But I really don't want to be a big 'ol whiner, because for all I know, there could be no free razors in the future, so I want to get 'em while the gettings' good

You will see that products go in cycles. The Fusion razors used to be HUGE MMs which is why we all were buying so many of them; now we're lucky to break even on them. I remember a time when every week there seemed to be a MM deal on shampoo/conditioner/stylers: Pert Plus, Head & Shoulders, Aussie, Pantene, Herbal Essense, etc. Then there were the deals on body wash - Olay, Nivea, Dove, Gillette, and on and on. It was constant. At first you'd get excited to get a product for free and build a nice little stockpile. Then you'd look at the ad preview for the next week and....MORE SHAMPOO. You have the exact right idea though. For whatever reason, a few months from now the freebie deals for a particular product could very easily dry up.

That was another reason I got out of RA - it is across town, where WAGs and CVS are VERY close to my home. Unless an hidden deal or glitch comes up (haven't seen too many of them lately), I am pretty much only going out about twice a week to do any hounding.

That's a struggle I have with myself all the time. To shop or not to shop, that is the question. On the one hand, why not stockpile nonperishable items while you can get them free or moneymakers? But on the other hand, how much is too much? Its a problem, but definitely a good problem to have.

I went on vacation for 3 weeks and then came back and waited for a month before I started again. It was a nice break and I did this during summer when we had so many things going on. I stopped my paper for 2 months and just glanced at the various sites for some time, without any pressure. I was also able to take my stockpile home as gifts, when I went to visit and so was starting from scratch on a lot of items. But I don't think it's going to be a big problem if all the stores start setting limits which are very low. So we should be able to do the deals once a week and be done. I may be wrong on this but it may happen.
