On behalf of Dancinmama and all of the gals here, WELCOME, WELCOME, WELCOME to the Grocery Challenge from me - Suzi Q!
This is the new change to our thread in response to many of you that requested that our thread be shorter and easier to follow. We will now create a new thread every month. We hope you like this change! Please look through the last pages of March's thread if you wish. There are also some good deals posted. Remember, this thread is not meant for you to read ALL of the pages. The information is fast and good, so just a few pages will do. if you have repeated a question, one of us will just repeat the answer, or help you. Everyone loves to help. I have copied Dancinmama's message to you from January, 2011, when we started posting on Proboards:If you have never clipped a coupon, or even if you have been using coupons for years, we'd love to have you join us. We are a crazy, fun-loving, and very friendly group of gals just chatting with one another about how to save big money using coupons. We are willing to help anyone, at any level, in any way that we can. Don't think that you have to read through the pages and pages of posts to join in - most of it will be old, out-of-date information anyway. Just go to the last page of the thread and introduce yourself. Tell us what area of the country you're from and where you shop (grocery stores, national chain stores, Target, WalMart, etc.). We'd love to have you join us on a regular basis, so don't be shy - just jump right in, have some fun, and save a ton of money in the process!!NEWBIES/OLDIES: If you post a HOUND ALERT requesting coupons from others, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE also post which insert/where the coupon can be found (Example: 1/2 SS) so that we can find it easily without having to research it ourselves. ALSO, if you need the coupon for a specific deal, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE try to remember to post the deal with your HOUND ALERT so that someone who may have the coupon(s) can decide whether they want/need to do the deal before sending out any of their coupons. THANKS!! POSTING ABOUT A DEAL / HOT COUPON: Some people get overwhelmed by the number of posts and only have time to skim the posts for the information that they need the most. If you are posting a deal, please post something that makes it stand out like "CVS DEAL ALERT" or if you are posting to tell us that there is a new, hot coupon available, please post something like "$3/1 WHOLLY GUACAMOLE IP ALERT".We want to make this thread as fun, friendly, and helpful as possible. These suggestions will save EVERYONE a lot of time when they are trying to "catch up" and read through past posts.
Now let's have fun!!

** hound alert ** I am looking for the $1/1 Nutella Q's from 3/27 Red Plum. I haven't come across any great deal for them, but my son goes through a jar of Nutella a week so every bit helps.
Thanks!

I hope you don't mind if I join in here herekittykitty. I've never gotten freezer burn on my meat or chicken. What I do is wrap each item in plastic wrap (tightly), and then I wrap in aluminum foil. You can then put the pieces in a ziploc bag, but the ziploc bag doesn't make a difference for me in terms of freezer burn. My Mom always wrapped meat in aluminum back in the day and we never had freezer burn.
Leanna, I never thought to use tin foil. Thank you for the tip.
WAGS has tinfoil on sale for 69 cents a box. Only 20 ft., but not a bad "filler."

At RITE AID: As you know, my RA's ads start on Fridays. I wanted to get the Scunchis for $1.99, the Naso whatever for $6.00, the Polygrip, and the TENA pads. Did I miss anything? Well, the problem was that some of my UPs expire 4/2. I had $4.00, and tomorrow I will be at a wedding.
I also have a $3.00 off of $15.00, so that will have to wait until Sunday, 4/3. The SCR's for the Tena and the Polygrip begins on 4/3. What a mixed up thing.
Anyway, I needed to "burn" the 4 $1.00 UPS today, so I bought 2 Scunchis. Imagine my surprise when I received 2 $1.99 ups and 2 $2.00 UPS for only TWO packages of Scunchis. That is a total of close to $8.00! Buy only the ones that say BOGOF and have TWO packages all wrapped up in one for a total of 36 bands, rather than the usual 18.
Try not to post about this on other sites, as the "feature" may be corrected before Monday, LOL.
I also want to know if the limit of 2 packages is not strict. That is, will it pay out after 2 packages, say buy 1 more after the 2 packages and see if you still get the ups, which would be about $1.99, and $2.00 for the one package. Freesalsa and SaveinLA, let us know!!! Have fun.

I have a question about the Tena pads. I hope this isn't too tacky to ask. I am wondering whether these can be used as maxi pads or should I donate them?

I am sure that they would work fine as Maxi pads. Try the thinner ones that have more per package. I once gave my niece, who was about 16 at the time, a package of "Poise" pads. She said she actually preferred them over her regular pads.

Maybe that deal is overlapping the $1.99 UP deal that started today for you (Sunday for the rest of the country). I wonder how long that will be working for you?

Total came to 32.91 with tax and I had it shipped to the store. It looks really stylish and rich and warm. Unfortunatley, it's almost 90 degrees here today and my son was looking at me like I was crazy when I was trying it out.

I bought 4 scunci today. I received 1.99 & 2 Ups for 2 and just 2 Ups for the remaining 2. SaveinLA, Were the Scunchis that you bought "BOGOF doublepacks?" (36 CT). I think that may have something to do with it.
I'm going to try to buy another one tomorrow, and see if I get the double ups.

For a while there, I thought I was doing pretty well with inserts, but lately several of the coupons I go to get are not there (i.e. $.50/1 Nescafe for the deal at WAGs, $2/1 Almay for the deal at WAGs, etc.).

NESCAFE $.50/1 (2/13 RP) HOUND ALERT:
I did not get these in my inserts. There is a monthly RR deal at WAGs on these. IF you do not have a WAGs and do not think you'll be using the coupons, I sure would appreciate getting a couple/few. I need them in multiples of (2).
I will use the RR to buy the Betty Crocker cornbread mix on 4/10.

Aluminum Foil- One of the best places I have found to get deals on aluminum foil around here, is to go to the cooking or party supply store and buy the industrial size package. I can buy the foil in sheets or in a roll. It ends up being less expensive in the long run and a better quality foil.

Hello Ladies,
Quick ?. So I have a lot of RRs to burn. I've been rolling and rolling and rolling for weeks now and I'm noticing the costs of HIGH taxes (IL) is cutting into my MM (these are cumulative of Neuragena, Arnica, Mortin and now Almay & Tena RRs), so I thinks it time to use them since there's not much to roll into right now.
At this point since most of this is "free" MM money (well, some of it is OOP_taxes that I got technically back), its doesn't matter much if I do a cost or sheet count comparison analysis on which TP sale btw Jewel's Cottenelle vs Wags Charmin vs Wags Scott vs Jewel Quilted Northern is better since Its all RRs money paying? Yes?
Same question for food items..... $4.99 for strawberries(pay with RR at Jewel) vs $2 OOP at some other store. No OOP option wins out, yes? I'm having a bit of a problem paying 2 times for something, but I know it means no OOP which is the end goal.
Also for IL ladies . ....... is there anyway to use Q's, ECBs and/or RRs cut into taxes? My experience says no, but just double checking.
Thanks.

My experience says no, but just double checking. Thanks. picghaw: First, yes, the sales tax does add up quickly. It is over 9% for me. That is why unless it is a HUGE MM or something that we actually will use or need, I will usually take a pass on doing the deal. Ask yourself this: If someone handed you a $5 bill for no reason, would you give some thought to how you spent it? Don't forget that a $5RR is WORTH $5. When I have RRs to burn and there are no rebates being offered by WAGs, I always look for items that are in the ad at a good price (hopefully rock bottom) and for which I have coupons that I need to add to my stockpile or that would "be nice" to add to my stockpile. I don't think I'd spend a $5RR for a $5 carton of strawberries IF I could get the strawberries for $2 in OOP somewhere else. That is a 150% difference in price which is a little steep, and you yourself have said that the RRs were not free due to sales tax (and I'm sure there were a couple of fillers here and there too). Now if the cartons were $3 vs $2, I'd consider it. I would look at the prices of Jewel vs WAGs (when comparing like items like TP) and consider what coupons you may have to pair with the sales and what your final OOP would be. Wherever it is less is where I would spend them. I always TRY to spend RRs wisely, but I have to spend them at WAGs.
