I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump AdministrationI work for the president but like-minded colleagues and I have vowed to thwart parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations. The Times today is taking the rare step of publishing an anonymous Op-Ed essay. We have done so at the request of the author, a senior official in the Trump administration whose identity is known to us and whose job would be jeopardized by its disclosure. We believe publishing this essay anonymously is the only way to deliver an important perspective to our readers. We invite you to submit a question about the essay or our vetting process here.President Trump is facing a test to his presidency unlike any faced by a modern American leader. It’s not just that the special counsel looms large. Or that the country is bitterly divided over Mr. Trump’s leadership. Or even that his party might well lose the House to an opposition hellbent on his downfall. The dilemma — which he does not fully grasp — is that many of the senior officials in his own administration are working diligently from within to frustrate parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations. They seriously have a duty to invoke the 25th. We already have a Constitutional crisis

Is this real? I'm hoping the Times verified it, but is keeping the writer anonymous. If it is real, its a nice comfort that there are "adults in the room!"

This all better not be a joke, cause I'm in a not too good mood right now. I need to know that Americans are all gonna be okay, and I mean every citizen.
45 pisses me right off to no end, I cannot stand the lying twit at all, and I stand behind Mueller, so to know there's others looking out for America makes me less anxious.
This piece gives me a wee little hope, that rug better not be removed from under me.

They don't get any props from me. They, more than anyone, can see how unfit he is, and they continue to cover for him. That's not patriotism. It's loyalty to party and power before country.

I agree totally with u Jaguar...however, the reality is , the Republicans favor the Donald by 89% of their total...His base will turn out for him so both midterms and in 2020...we others HAVE to turn out to counter their votes and not stay on the side lines...even if one isn't crazy about the opposition to the drumette one running for office ...have to swallow hard and vote against the Donald supporter...

If so, and I am not questioning you as to the validity of your claim on seniors, it makes me so ashamed of those of my generation. I can say that at my VFW chapters club house..[Bar/Dining room] the opposition to the yellow haired one is almost universally on the negative side...in fact for some, to hear them talk, dangerously so..

Personally, I think Trump's trade wars are insane, but these folks haven't stopped it. What if Trump decides to use an atom bomb on some country? Can these folks stop that? Or will it just be - Oops, too bad we didn't realize that we should have done something earlier?

I just saw a CNN banner across the bottom of the screen..."Trump rages while everyone is trying to find out who wrote to op-ed." So it sounds like no one will get any sleep in the WH tonight. Could be interesting tomorrow.
Also saw a piece while ago...no link...that they have been compiling a list to replace Mattis.

so when do we start chatting about who might have written it? from what I keep seeing, Pence & Sessions are coming out as possible suspects based on certain wording in the op-ed. "lodestar" is a word that Pence likes a lot & uses often. Shortly before the op-ed was released, Pence gave a strong statement of support for Sessions.
Mattis in retaliation for the "fake news" rebuttal of Woodward's quotes yesterday?
Kelly to be the "American Hero" we all hoped he was many many moons ago?

Wouldn't it be funny if it were Pence? Trump can't fire Pence. There's no way that Pence would resign.

Pence is the consensus on my FB news feed, after ruling out the Chicken Littles on both sides of the aisle. I have to admit I hadn't considered that option....and have to be painfully honest in that I'd much rather this shadow administration continue as is if that's the case.

Just a thought, but if I were writing something & didn't want my identity to be obvious, I'd use words or phrases that others were well known to use....just to throw off any investigation.
