you know PI... the insulting of the EE ladies is getting REALLY tiresome.. especially when you, too, belong to the 'elderly and mature' set... you also shouldn't pretend you know jack shit about any of us - you don't.. all you know is that some ladies from here have been venturing to the PM board. apparently you don't like that too much..
actually, i see how you put women down in general.. not just EEers..
i think my siggy defines me just fine too... it sums up my attitude problem.

It's called yet another lie.... I am not part of EE, yet you routinely call me "elderly" among other insults.

you may have known later and sammy but THEY are not the ones you are taking repeated potshots at right now, so they don't count.

I would not dare to take a pot shot at LongSam that is like committing suicide, potshots are ok as long as they don't hit anyone and are meant as indirect compliments and not vile or nasty IMHO Time for the Red Sox vs Rangers ...later and enjoy your weekend at work Ma'am ...and work on your signatur the one you have now is bland and boring ...IMHO

just saw this line.. but am wondering who is calling you names like that and why this is the first time i'm hearing of it. please send me a PM, because things said about age are one thing.. but that is entirely another.
you know what they say about opinions, i'm sure.. don't much care if it's bland/boring... it's to please me and no one else. i will change it when i get tired of it, or find one that suits my mood better.
enjoy the game.

beautyonbeam hope this article your question Re: "Unhappy Posters Here": Overall, researchers believe the top 15 percent of ‘beautiful people’ are more than 10 percent happier than the people ranked in the bottom 10 percent of looks. “Personal beauty raises happiness,” said the study’s author, Daniel Hamermesh. “The majority of beauty’s effect on happiness works through its impact on economic outcomes.” Click here to read more on this story from MyFoxAustin Read more: www.foxnews.com/health/2011/04/01/beautiful-people-happier-successful-plain-looking-counterparts/#ixzz1IVDvr600So you might logically deduct from this article that the people ranked in the bottom 10 percent of looks are not at all happy campers. So what you might ask? Good Question, but carry this logic a step or two furtherr and you are left with the conclusion to wonder if a few of those beauty deficient camped here and expressed so much unhappiness?? my takeaway is that the 'pretty people' (with some noted exceptions for my EE friends) are very shallow people. or, they're on drugs to make them THINK they're really happier.
if so, they're all on the PM board.. and a couple on MT.

whoever said Seagulls were beautiful ? beauty is in the eye of the beholder, is it not? i think that if one is willing to take the time to look. there is something beautiful to be found in everyone. even a serial killer probably has at least one positive trait.. it just gets overshadowed by the negative stuff.

C'mon now Ms Moonbeam you really don't believe that BS do you? Again the topic today is "Beautiful People are much happier than Uglies"... which might just explain why we have a few unhappy, and negative Uglies doing so much complaining to you lately.. in your heart of heats you know I am right ...btw here is my new signature suggestion for you that I promised and think about it. "La Vie En Rose" Personal beauty raises happiness," says author Daniel Hamermesh. "The majority of beauty's effect on happiness works through its impact on economic outcomes." The study also suggests that the indirect economic benefits, like higher earning spouses, account for at least half of the additional happiness that good-looking people report. Beauty affects women's happiness more directly than men's.

As far as I'm concerned, Mr. Hamermesh is full of horse manure. He's looking at an iceburg as though it were an ice cube. What impacts happiness and success, for the most part, is self-esteem, not beauty. While it would be easy for someone who doesn't feel attractive to allow his/her self-esteem to suffer, it isn't necessarily the rule that it will happen. There's a lot more to a human being than appearance. One must learn to play up one's assets and play down one's deficits (while doing all possible to correct those deficits that can be corrected).
There are many examples on both sides of this issue, if one cares to look into history, or even just around one's workplace, or neighborhood. There are stunningly beautiful people who have taken their own lives, or fallen into lives of misery, just as there are less attractive people who have found amazing success and happiness. These are not just anomalies. This is the nature of people, and indicates the power they each have over how they see themselves.

Thank you Ma'am...for your candid opinion once again but have you read the entire article Re: "Beautiful People are happier and more successful".... it is just a survey or study...and probably very unscientific or only a sample..

Yes, I read the article. The fact it's very unscientific is quite obvious, and made more obvious by the fact that it's come to a rather shallow conclusion. One must wonder why anyone would want to use it as a serious example, or a basis for a serious discussion.

Ok how many beautiful and successful people do you know who would waste most of their time crying and whining ad nauseum on a Proboards message board each and every day...maybe unscientific but factual IMHO Sometimes you have to realize that the truth hurts, but ignore it if you must, I guess??

You'd probably be surprised at the number of "beautiful and successful people" who also enjoy communicating on message boards with a variety of people from around the world. There's always something to learn, and information with which you'd not come in contact before. A comment can lead to research, which leads to learning.
Truth never hurts. Truth is truth. If you're hurt by it, it isn't truth that hurt you. It's you.

You missed my point again Ma'am.. are beautiful people unhappy or unsuccessful?? The answer is that most are not and don't waste their time posting a lot of obnoxious buffoonery on message boards..nor are they miserable human beings whining and crying 24/7 on message boards.
But you are free to pontificate ad nauseum but most of your pontification will be ignored by the Unhappy Posters..

Your point is in error, P.I. There are probably just as many attractive/beautiful people who are unhappy, or unsuccessful, as there are those who are happy, or successful. If someone is unhappy, they're making the choice to be unhappy. They can, if they wish, make the choice to change that situation. You're responsible for yourself.
I only see a few who whine and cry daily on this message board. It's always the same few. Interesting, but that's their choice, not mine.

Ok if you say so..Ma'am and have a happy & successful day & we have two choices agree with this study or agree with you...in all due respect I vote for the University of Texas study.. And not sure how many you can convince with your opinion..but I don't buy it. A University of Texas study proves that good-looking people are happier than plain-looking or unattractive people, MyFoxAustin reported. I don't know what is going on here. I see some people's avatars have returned. I got rid of mine because I didn't like the thing they gave me -- do I need to go try to find it again? All of the pages in the middle of this thread bring me a warning from Chrome that some avatar site on those pages is suspected of infecting machines with a virus, so I'm not about to permit seeing those pages just to read whatever this idiocy was about. If this whole thing was really someone's idea of a joke, he/she ought to be shot. Nothing about wasting my time is funny to me.

Does anyone know for sure if there were or were not viruses attached to the avatar site that was foisted on our user ids? I know I'm experiencing slower boot times (which I assume to be due to extra stuff in the registry having to be processed) that noticeably started about the time this whole "avatar" thing came up. Have not had time yet to do a deep scan, nor a registry clean-up. It does bother me quite a lot that Chrome warns me not to open any of the pages in this thread between about page 2 and page 9 due to viruses suspected of an avatar site (nor have I done so). But some of those substitute avatars are distributed on many pages throughout the message boards. Does that mean viewing any page that still has such an avatar opens one up to a potential infection or reinfection? I sure as hell didn't need this. I've been very careful about sites I use, cookies accepted, and other precautions I knew to take to keep this machine clean. This set of message boards was probably about the least-trusted site I used due to the openness it seemed to allow to non-employee programming. Many of us have far less extensive programming knowledge than others. That shouldn't be taken as permission to distribute malware to our machines, an example of which this seems to have been.
