Psych stuff, like law, always seems to have long stretches of waiting built in. Is there someone the EAP can offer in the interim to talk with? I have no idea how to even contact my EAP. But, if they found me someone else, my 5 sessions would be done before I even got in at my old place.

Just as a new thought on this depression topic. I finally admitted to my PC. Dr. last summer that I didn't want to go back on Lexapro, but the depression etc. was more than I could handle.
She suggested a meal/diet eating plan by Dr. Weil. It's actually for anti-inflammatory . I know it sounds a little silly, but honestly, making a change in my food intake has helped quite a bit.
Just and idea.....

Good for you. Dnephew3 had to get on the list last fall after he got insurance from his teaching job. They would not even put him on the list until he had insurance in place. (My sister was concerned enough about him that she was going to pay for it).

They asked for my insurance info. I didn't want to tell them I only plan on using the 5 freebies because with my HDHP now I'd be full pay from there on out. I can't afford to pay more for a visit than I take home in a week.

I went to one years ago and while I was paying full price they were always reminding me of the scale and that it was more important to them that I come in than even if I couldn't afford it.

I am home today due to one of the main things on my plate being pulled last minute. My anxiety level plummeted after hearing that yesterday, I realize it is just avoidance and as soon as things ramp up again the anxiety and not being able to focus will return, so I'm trying to take advantage of my newly returned "feeling in control". I've been working every other weekend all year just trying to keep my head above water at work and I feel really guilty about it, because I'm getting paid OT for something I should be able to get done in a 40 hour work week. Anyhow, today I'm not. There really was no reason to, so although my pocket book is not going to be happy with the next paycheck I'm going to TRY really hard to get through this weekend without hating myself on Sunday night because I did nothing but eat, sleep and watch TV. i have an overwhelmingly long list of things that needs to be done. I'm not going to try and tackle all or even the majority...but I think I'm going to force myself to so at least a few things that have been bugging me but for some reason I don't do anything about (I'm talking about you pile of laundry on my bed).
The sun is out, so that should help.

The sun being out always helps me.
I have a laundry basket of clothes to fold. Want to help?

Well, it took me a ridiculously long time to do but the laundry pile that has been on my bed since probably Christmas is gone. I would work on it for a little bit then take a long break, rinse and repeat. When I got down to all the odds and ends socks with no partners I threw them all in the garbage. I've been hanging on to odd ball socks for forever and even though I hate throwing good things out, I'm just done doing that. I also cleaned out under my stove (which was awful), vacuumed all the carpets and shampooed Carrot's room. So, while I can't really say it was a productive day, I did not just sleep and eat and watch tv.

It sounds outstandingly productive to me, minnesotapaintlady. Maybe you could lower your standards? Hope that made you laugh.

OK folks! I have to share this with you as you've been forced to read about my whole routine with SSDI. I got my settlement! I logged into my checking account this afternoon to pay a bill and there it is! Yay! I'm so glad it's finally here and we can move on with our plans now.

Trying to make myself make the call. I had a message on my phone last night that the counselor has openings on either the 19th or 20th of March and I should call back ASAP.
I keep thinking I'm going to do the freebies and then we'll just get into things and I'll get convinced to keep going when I have to pay full fare so I'm afraid to even start. I'll do it...I just need a few minutes.

MPL - you are worth the full fare (and likely qualify for sliding scale if available). Also think of it this way - if you keep ignoring it, sooner or later, your body will force you to pay attention meaning you will miss work and that will cost even more than taking care of yourself now.

Please call them back mpl. Take a deep breath and do it. You are worth it. Your sons need a healthy mom.

Ugh. I called and set up an appointment for the 20th, but then they started asking about insurance and I told them I was going to use my employee EAP and she told me I was supposed to call them first and set it up and that this counselor was listed as "EAP ineligible", but since it was her first day (the receptionists), and she set it up, she would figure something out, which I don't know what that means.
So, now I'm trying to figure out how to contact our EAP.

You can do this MPL! I'd keep the appointment, whether or not the EAP works out or not. A first appointment will give you a feel for if the counselor would be a good match for you. JMHO. Either way, you're moving forward, which is good.

Call EAP today, MPL. Promise?
Yes, you are worth full pay if that is what it takes to help. You may or may not need more sessions than you can get through work but give this your all. You have two sons who need you and love you and depend on you.

I wish I would have asked what full fare was. There's a sliding scale, but only if you don't have insurance. I have insurance, but have met exactly $12 of my high deductible. Corona virus and mental health breakdown. Should have kept the PPO.

The EAP said the provider I chose wasn't eligible and I tried explaining that Catholic Charities said to have the EAP call, but she pretty much was a flat no and I don't have a lot of argue in me so I just went along with her finding someone else. I don't have a lot of interest in seeing some stranger that doesn't know all I went through though... Also, I felt like such an idiot explaining why I was asking for help. I went back to the domestic violence situation and when she asked me if I was still in that, I was like, "um...no...it's been years, but now I'm not functioning right".

I'm sorry mpl. I understand not wanting to start over with a new therapist. And I'm sure it took a ton out of you to make those calls.

I am sorry, that is something you really didn't want to hear. I understand about not having it in you to argue with the EAP. Can you call the place back and see what the price might be with or without insurance? At least that way you'll know

Son is struggling again and I'm not being as patient and supportive as usual and I'm not sure if i'm right or wrong... I don't want to coddle. I also know there is little beneficial in my suggesting just getting off one's ass and doing it, damn it...
