I think them all being poor is a bit sad. Someone should be doing ok! lol Not sure why Jackie isn't a cop anymore. She quit being a cop early on in the original run because she got hurt and didn’t want a desk job. I only know cuz watching the original series again on Amazon prime video.

She got hurt on the job and decided to become a truck driver. I do think it is funny that they still have her "acting" like a cop from time to time. They do that on the older episodes too. Hilarious since she was only a cop for a year or two.

I'm really enjoying it so far. When it ran originally, my brothers & I watched it together. We've managed to recreate that & every week they come over & we watch it together. We still have some questions about "what happened to..." but it's a sitcom, so we try not to overthink it.
Don't know if anyone else noticed, but the teacher in Mark's class? Was the same actress/teacher that told Roseanne that Darlene barked in the very 1st episode. Ms Crane. Did you know that the actress playing their mom is 93!!!!!!!!!!! 93!!!!!! She's got that Betty White aging magic going on. Loved the episode of trying to decide what to do about mom.
the only character complaint I have is that Darlene's daughter Harris is trying to hard to be teenaged Darlene, but without the softer loving side that Darlene did have underneath all her sarcasm & angst. I wish we knew how Mark died. And wondering when/if we're going to hear what happened to Andy (Jackie's son). But I can see how Jackie was always so all over the place that he might have left to be with his dad & no one mentions him because it upsets Jackie too much.
I liked seeing Chuckie & Ann-Marie, Crystal & even Nancy again. Tom Arnold & Roseanne have said that there's an open invitation for Arnie to return, schedules just haven't lined up for it yet. This weeks episode with Darlene thanking Becky for not going for the job by showing her the uniform was great. I'm liking Becky & Darlene's relationship the most.

This week's episode was my favorite so far. I too really like the dynamics of Becky and Darlene's relationship. My biggest complaint is the David storyline. I don't feel like it at all matches his personality. I was wondering how old the actress playing Rosanne's mother is because she was no spring chicken 20 yeas ago. I am constantly amazed when I see people acting into their 90''s. The actress who plays Becky also looks fabulous at 43. She was completely right when she said a few episodes ago that she still looks 35.

Did anyone watch this week's episode? It made me take another look at my retirement calculations.
If nothing else, this show makes me think about the fact I don't want to be old and poor.

If nothing else, this show makes me think about the fact I don't want to be old and poor. I'm watching the original seasons again on Prime and am at season 5, I'm finding I have watched them all before just not in order, watching in order has really made me appreciate how great the show was.
I didn't realize how often Dan was out of work before he got a job with the city, that and multiple failed business ventures, bike shop, fronting money to fix up homes to sell before the mortgage/taxes were due. So much of that show hits home for me with what happened with my parents growing up and the shape they are in now. And as you mention, I don't want to be in that shape in my 60's.

I am watching them all on Prime now too. I am about halfway through season 6, which seems to be the turning point when things get better for them financially. I am really enjoying watching them all again.

Everyone keep in mind that season 9 never happened (in theory) as it applies to the reboot. The last episode should be Darlene's wedding.

Wait. When was Harris born? If season 9 never happened, should Harris be in the reboot?

Wait. When was Harris born? If season 9 never happened, should Harris be in the reboot? Technically, Darlene gets pregnant at the end of season 8 so yes.

Nah, I'd say it was the way the ratings for her show have dropped every week.... Not enough people watching it. I'm pretty sure a twitter post (no matter how repulsive) would kill a money making show.
Maybe, Roseanne is hoping for her fan base to raise a stink and get the show a second season (maybe on a different network)? That tactic (the letter writing, protesting, general noise making) worked for other shows threatened with cancellation -- especially with a big enough loyal enough fan base.

They have dropped but not that dramatically. It was still a money making show. I really do think it is due to her dumb ass tweets.
In watching the original episodes at the same time as the reboot, her personality is not the same...

DH and I have been enjoying the reboot, and I like how it is tackling some issues that real folks are facing.
I think Roseanne has been the weak link on the new show - her acting hasn't been that fantastic.
I really wish that they would bring back the show without Roseanne! I really enjoy everyone else for the most part.

After Roseanne?

Could just call it The Connor Family. I honestly don't think her name needs to be anywhere near it...

That kid sucked!

Amen to that. Her tweets didn't just cause the reboot to be cancelled, but it has seriously dinged the residuals that they could be receiving from the reruns of the original. She didn't just cost them a job. She also reached into their individual portfolios and deprived them of some pretty pleasant income streams.
And then there is what being associated with Roseanne 1.0 and 2.0 has done to their own employability. Association with Roseanne (the show) used to be a plus, now it's a stink that they can't shake.

Let's not forget about the production crew. Some of the grips, camera operators, technicians, etc will land other jobs this summer in filming of other shows which will air in the fall. But some of them will be left out in the cold (so to speak).

You hear people say they were offered two jobs - Seinfeld and some show that never even aired, but they just didn't know and took the ones they thought had the best chance. Sure, Roseanne was canceled, but they have to fill that spot with something, and that show will probably hire approximately the same number of people.
