Well, that was back when we thought we could believe what he said.
There was a time we could believe what he said? I confess I was one of the losers who thought Trump would pivot and become presidential once he took office, which meant no more creative hyperbole.
Sadly, I was wrong. Bigly.

You're a bigly person to admit it.

There was a time we could believe what he said? Well, not most of us, but we had our eyes and ears open. Many people didn't.

Well, considering that he has been telling us and showing us exactly who he is for forty years, I don't think I'll hold out too much hope for many of them. He has been a disgusting individual all along. Narcissistic, self-aggrandizing, corrupt. If they haven't realized it by now, when? And for those who are willing to put up with him because they think his beliefs conform to theirs, I don't think he even has any true core beliefs other than his own greatness. He has at times been on pretty much every side of pretty much every issue. The reason is simple. Because he doesn't care about issues unless they benefit him personally. Whatever side he thinks he can exploit, that is the side he will be on at that moment. Anyone who supports him should do some serious soul-searching as to why.

the more indefensible this president becomes, the more i am liking politics. it simplifies the argument: "the man is a heap of excrement posing as a world leader". that kind of thing.

Sorry, I guess? Sometimes I wonder if it would be easier to just sink into delusion like so many others. (Actually, I know it would be easier, just not better.) I know though that I have to be me. Always thought that was a good thing...until this president. The LAST thing we need is for him to be him. Oh, and you never need to spend 13 posts explaining anything to me.

My mom was often confused. She would pick up a book and try to talk into it. Mom had Alzheimer's disease.

So - instead of a racist president, we have a president with no moral compass and no clear policy goals who takes direction from the nearest person, at least until the next person says something.
Does sound like Alzheimers, now that you mention it.

My mom & I were talking and we managed (without having to become a contortionist) to find a silver lining from this trumptanic nightmare. We now know more about how our govt works, the people involved, the names of not only our own representatives, but of many many others and we're more aware of the daily workings of our govt. We weren't totally ignorant or checked out, but the real details, the daily stuff, the hearings & committees not so much.
We are more aware of it all now than we were before & that's actually a good thing.

Norway is grappling with a lot of the same issues as the US and a lot of countries. I'm curious if they will also see a decline in support for social services as their population diversifies. It's a well known side effect. I'm surprised that the US election isn't put in a greater context. We aren't special. There are populist/anti-immigrant movements in many countries. bostonreview.net/world/sindre-bangstad-norway-populist-rightI think it's unlikely. Take Brexit. That was never about not spending on social services for their population. Instead it was about not funding social services adequately enough. Hell, the whole mantra of the pro-Brexit movement was that millions of pounds per week could be send to the NHS rather than Brussels. Even here in the US many Trump voters liked him initially because he specifically said he wouldn't cut social security, medicaid, medicare, etc. He said that he would get better cheaper health insurance for everyone. He was talking about spending more on social services not less. The man has never met a lie he didn't love..he lies, he lies, he lies and again he lies and is very comfortable being known as one, a lier. He will get his supporters to lie too...see the two Senators in that meeting who have not wanted to rock the boat..They first said they didn't hear what others heard...then , day later, to the man did NOT say those words...having no problem calling their college a lier...even to the Senator from their own own party. I believe fellow Senators, both parties, are not happy with that...Senate have unwritten rules all try to obey. Saying didn't hear ..ok...one can live with that one..possible a white lie, possible true or believable at least.., explainable , playing with in the unwritten rules...but calling out two other Senators, one a Dem, the other a respected experienced Republican Senator..indicating they are lying...especially when they weren't ...unwritten rules are broken... Every time these two pass near a Dem the Dems should whisper.."lier" to them...possible leave "post its" on their desk...saying "Lier"...do this as long as they are in the Senate..a year...30 years...doesn't matter.

Nasty woman, As part of the divorce settlement she recanted her 'under oath' deposition about the rape, which apparently had to do with his anger over the painful scalp reduction surgery he had, by her recommended Dr.. One can read between the lines to seek the truth. Or not.

I can see the point you're trying to make. But for most of this country's history, there were lots of jobs for people without an education and very few social services. In those circumstances, bringing in a bunch of uneducated people from dysfunctional countries makes sense. There's plenty for them to do and it isn't going to cost the country much of anything if they fail. Now the economy has changed. We have a large number of poorly educated people already in this country and not enough living wage jobs for them to be financially independent. Continuing to import large numbers of uneducated people will only further depress wages on the lower end, making it harder for someone born into modest circumstances to get ahead. When I went to college 20 years ago, I knew plenty of guys who weren't getting a penny of help from their families but were still able to earn a significant chunk of their tuition by spending their summers working dirty jobs (canneries, construction, slaughterhouses). But in a lot of places, those jobs have been taken over by illegals and even if you can get in, the wages for these jobs haven't kept up with inflation. At this point, there is something to be said for prioritizing people who have the skills to be self sufficient. i'll take the risk of seeming nativist or elitist in replying to this post. i will agree that the economy has changed- but not in the way that most Trump supporters like to think. it is not the case that immigrants are now occupying part of the food chain that 2nd or 3rd or 10th generation Americans want to occupy. rather it is the case that the 2nd rung on the food chain is no longer paying enough. what has happened in the last decade is that somehow IMMIGRANTS have been blamed for that, even though NET IMMIGRATION INTO THE US IS ZERO. think about that. so, we have a period of stagnating wages, where half the population is slowly drowning in a combination of house-poor and healthcare-poor. but rather than demanding higher wages that would fix that problem, apparently we are listening to our masters and blaming "immigrants" because...well, they are not us. it is a shame, not only because it is knee jerk, but because it won't actually solve the problem. today the high was 62F and the low was 56F in Malta. Are you really making the case that for the last 10 years, we've had just as many Americans leave this country as immigrants coming in? That seems pretty unbelievable. But even if that's true, the uneducated immigrants who came here 10+ years ago didn't evaporate or become neurosurgeons. Many of them are still here, still working the same jobs they took when they came here and therefore still depressing wages on the lower end. I work in IT, which means I've been competing with H1B visas my whole career. Despite this, I've still managed to make a good living. It isn't because I'm a genius or workaholic, far from that. The reason I've still been able to keep a job and earn a decent living is because the companies I work for do e-verify, which means that I'm only competing with legal immigrants, and their numbers are limited. If the corporate world stopped checking for citizenship, I guarantee you that this country would immediately be flooded with illegal immigrant IT workers, wages would plummet, and I'd likely be out of a job. But I'm protected, because the immigration is controlled. And it's sad that our more vulnerable citizens don't have this protection.

H1B is legal. my apologies. i meant ILLEGAL. for the record, i don't know many that have serious issues with legal immigration.

Apparently the two senators now believe he said 'shithouse' - which would be equally derogatory and racist, but allows them to claim with certainty that Trump did not say 'shithole.'

I do not intend to let Purdue forget this weaselly behavior. He's up for re-election in 2020 and I'm going to email him today, and periodically between now and 2020, to let him know that I won't forget how he not only sided with this wretched president, he actively lied to enable him, and whatever small impact I can make to keep him from being re-elected in 2020, I'm making it.
I understand if you're a GOP congressperson you might want to shut up and not rock the boat, but there is no excuse at all to lie in order to cover up yet another one of Trump's divisive, race baiting statements, unless you think your constituents are also racists and will appreciate your efforts. Recent polls suggest that is not the case. thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/368719-poll-trumps-approval-ratings-in-georgia-erode. Sam Nunn's daughter Michelle ran a surprisingly good campaign against Perdue in 2014. I'm sure she's got more balls than he does.

I too am a realist and could understand if they stayed with their comments that they did not hear the Donald say what he said about Haiti, African countries...members of GOP , a GOP President..."hear no evil , see no evil, speak no evil...".....ok , understand...but when they did their about face , well u have my remarks of how it should be handled...Wish he/they was/were my Senators so I could do the same as u...cowards and supporters of this evil man...[sad]

shithole Please post some pictures of the local citizenry enjoying these spots with the tourists. Why in the heck would locals leave these countries if it was all sunny skies and blue water? If Norwegians refuse to migrate from their hellish winters to the US, there must be some legitimate reasons millions of illegals decide to come here, other than escaping their beautiful picturesque landscape, but do carry on with irrelevant related photos.
