I so wish we all lived closer together. I could drag your asses to the gym and you all could stop me from shoveling chocolate into my face.

Welp already failed. Forgot to weigh myself again this morning. Weighing yourself daily isn't going to do anything but make you discouraged. Don't worry about the number on the scale! That bitch lies! If you start working out and building muscle mass, your weight may not even change, but your dress size can be getting way smaller. Screw the scale! Just focus on the other stuff. I know that's how it works for some people, but not for me. Weighing myself every day helps remind me, daily, to keep myself on track and accountable.

I'm in the weigh myself daily camp, too. It's easier for me to make small adjustments as I go, than to let my weight creep up over a week/month/year and feel so behind I just give up completely. To each their own on that, though. I understand why it doesn't work for everyone.

I don't really care what the scale says. I just care about whether or not my clothes fit. I weigh a lot for my size, so the scale does me no good.

I count on clothing sizes/fit and how I look over weight, especially since muscle weighs more than fat. If I gained 10 lbs but went down a size, that would be just fine with me.
Right now I'm at the beach surrounded by all these awesome bodied young adult women. I mean I know I put zero work into getting a great beach body, but still.... I think if I had boobs it would be alright.

Try putting all kinds of work in and still not having one. It bites.

Some of it has to be genetics though. All the women in my family are built like pears. Large pears. I'm still getting back into the swing of MFP again (and still messing up), but at least I'm getting a better grasp on portion control and making better choices. Except just now when I got a frozen custard... But I worked out this morning, had a decent breakfast and ate a sparse lunch. I'll have fat thighs forever, unless I get Lipo. That's just the way it is. And I'll always have small boobs unless I get implants. The only things I seem to have a decent control over are my butt, shoulders and stomach.

I'm blaming my children. It's their fault I need a tummy tuck.

Daily weigh-ins before my shower keep me accountable. Can't lie to myself that way! Went on a bike ride tonight instead of last night. Forgot to stop my tracker for a few minutes when we stopped, but it said 12.3 miles in 70 minutes. I'll take it. Not bad for my first ride in over a year.

I think maybe I need to keep a food diary. I'm sure I eat way too much crap. Surely there's an app for that. Anyone know of a good one? I tried to use the food tracker that comes with the wellness plan I'm on at work, but there's a lot of stuff that's just not on there. Anyone got a good one I can download?

The one I've been trying to use either doesn't have what I ate or a weird version of it from brands or stores that I didn't get it from.

My legs hurt. I'm beat. I did a half hour of weights and floor exercises, heavier on the weights. Then I did 20 minutes of spin and then stretched for 10 minutes then an hour of zumba. My quads hate me right now.
Tomorrow is 10 minutes on the treadmill which is about all I can stand right now. I want to eventually be able to run for the whole 10 minutes. I'll then do 40 minutes of weights and floor exercises. More weights than anything else. Then stretch for 10 minutes before doing the hour of zumba. My arms are finally starting to take shape.

On MFP, there’s a variety of entries already there, but you can also scan the bar code of whatever product you’re using. You can also import recipes.

I also use My Fitness Pal. I've been using it since 2012 when I originally started my weight loss. Lost 37 pounds by July 2013 when my seamstress told me I couldn't lose anymore weight. What every bride wants to hear! 💪😁
MFP has helped me stay accountable with eating and meal planning.

So I don't know about this fitness app. Everything is in metric and I can't find where to change it. It makes me put in my weight lifting and then doesn't give me sny calories burned. Tracking food is a bit easier, but I wonder how accurate it is. It left me with something like 800 calories left for the day. And how am I supposed to track my activity at my PT job? I'm on my feet all day. What do I enter as my speed?

Cardio is the only thing that's going to get you calorie credits. Strength doesn't really add to that count. IIRC, there is an exercise in the cardio list for that. ETA: it's literally called strength training under the cardio exercises. It has weight lifting, some other stuff in parenthesis. I'll have to look to see where to change from metric is... ETA: units of measurement is in your user profile.

It may also connect to your phone's internal tracker, but that only works if you keep your phone on you all the time. I downloaded an app called Pacer because I'm too cheap broke to buy a tracker. It will connect to that app.

You can change the measurements on the serving size drop-down menu.
If you go back to using your FitBit, you can have your steps transferred into MFP. You can also link your steps tracked on your phone (so keeping your phone in your back pocket). You can also increase your activity level in MFP. Have you seen that part of the settings yet?
At some point, nothing is completely accurate. WW, MFP, hand-written diary, etc. all have flaws because there's human error.

For me it's just so easy to out eat my exercise that while exercise is a huge motivator for me to get my eating in line, I have to weigh myself and unfortunately either track what I'm eating or stick to a specific meal plan in order to lose or honestly just maintain my weight.
I'm coming to terms with the fact that this is never going to be over for me. Every time I get even remotely confident that I *am* going to continue losing weight I completely stall out and more often than not start gaining. I'm up a total of 8 pounds this summer, and I should be grateful it's only 8 pounds. That's with increasing jiu jitsu to 3 hour long classes a week, a daily walk every morning, and lots of biking, swimming, and some kettle bell work outs thrown in here and there. I'm never going to be able to not think about this stuff and not gain. And it's so freaking hard I just hate it. It's like budgeting. I look at how much money we make and think my god--we should be rich and able to afford all kinds of things. Instead we're grateful to have hand me down furniture, tent camping vacations, and you tube for home repairs.
Chloe--Over the last week and half I've had more days than I want to admit of 2700+ calorie days. I consider it a win that I still tracked them. I could never be brave enough to post them here, but you are not alone.

Not alone at all. All I've done is track and mostly maintain for years while whining that I need to do better. I have no motivation (at all, ever, about anything...except living indoors) and sometimes I feel like mostly maintaining is a victory. One day I will get sick enough of it to act differently but today doesn't seem to be that day.

I think "mostly maintaining" is totally a win. At least I'd take it over the wild swings that seem to be my norm over the last few years.

Thanks Rae. I don't often feel all that bad about not moving down but I realize I should and soon because it's not going to get any easier and I'm not getting any younger.

Thanks, raeoflyte. I can be in such denial about how much I'm eating. Putting it out there forces me to acknowledge it.
