I'm making an appetizer. I'm ordering a cranberry apple pie and rolls. I'm working Monday though Wednesday and moving this weekend. Trying to make a pie is not a good idea.

I'm making roulage. I asked my daughter-in-law if she wanted bourbon or not in the whipped cream, and she acted like I had grown two heads! There are four minors so I'll pick up Publix cupcakes for them.

I have to make some sort of desert. I'm overwhelmed and can't make a decision.

takeout. I'm working in the morning, not really sure what I'm doing the rest of the day.

I am bringing corn (with butter and cream cheese), sweet potatoes with apples, and a salad. I will probably just do the prep work at home and cook them at my sister-in-laws due to the long drive.

I still haven't decided what I'm doing for Thanksgiving (as in where I'm going). Where I end up determines what I'll be making. It will either be ex-MIL's where I will not have to bring anything, or my family dinner where I'll probably bring dairy bake potatoes and maybe the cheesecake Mich posted the recipe for the other day. I'm leaning towards staying with my family this year even though it means not being with either of my kids and getting a ton of griping from MIL. I like going there, but it's an hour and a half away and really crowded now with all the kids having kids and now grandkids. My family one is just next door and also crowded, but I can bail and go home quickly and have the house to myself since neither kid is coming home until Friday evening. That sounds very appealing.

That's the hardest part about divorce...having to share the children!
I'm lucky because my ex isn't exactly father-of-the-year. I put in the custody agreement that I get the kids for every holiday (I list them out so there was no confusion), my birthday and their birthdays. I'm not an ass so I do let him have the kids a few hours on the holidays if he wants them....he will be on a vacation this Thanksgiving so apparently he doesn't care all that much!lol

Having dinner with friends at their home. I was asked to prepare a side dish for dinner with apples. I was told no sugar though in the dish because it was not supposed to be dessert. So I am making bake, sliced, Fuji apples with just a very light sprinkling of cinnamon. The apples supply the sweetness.
And the good thing is I don't have to peel the apples because I am making the dish for 29 people.

I really don't mind the holiday/birthday sharing thing since I don't put a ton of significance on particular days. They are both always home on Christmas Eve and day, but the rest of them? meh. Older son has never been to Thanksgiving with my family and I think that might be how it goes with younger too, Birthdays are just however they fall in the rotation schedule for younger, if he's at his Dad's we have our party the weekend before or after. With the exception of last Summer when I made him skip camp for the cruise, older has celebrated his last 7 birthdays away at scout camp and will be again next year. In fact he'll be gone almost his entire birthday month next year, so I'm not even sure we'll be able to throw a party. Our families are just so far apart that it's tough to "share" the day. Older son will be 1.5 hours west and younger will be 2 hours north. It's all good. I have them 90% of the time anyhow.

I'm going to two gatherings.
Thanksgiving Day- joining a friend and her family- about 8 in total. They don't have a lot of money and she mentioned that she loves shrimp. I bought a big bag at Costco; will boil it and bring it as an appetizer and leave the leftovers with her.
The following Saturday: gathering of people from church for those who don't have family in the area. Bringing spiced carrots and mashed potatoes since the hostess begged someone to bring them because she says she's not good at making them. I don't think I'm all that great either but I've got a hand mixer and it's mostly just the work of peeling potatoes.

I don't know!!!
I usually host, but DH and i are going on vacation on monday after thanksgiving, and we're both working during the weekend, so we don't want all the leftovers.
DH and DS are going to have a guy movie day. DD is going with my brother and his family to my aunt.
I'm just hanging alone. In the quiet. By myself. I can't wait.

I'm doing prime rib for dinner, along with home made rolls, mashed potatoes, gravy, some sort of green.....depends on what looks good at the store. I'm going to do a roasted garlic white bean hummus with veggies and flatbread as munchies, and apple butter cheesecake as dessert.
Oh, and we've got TD's mom coming, plus 2 neighbors. I need to go find some table linens today.

I'm doing a bacon wrapped turkey, roasted brussels sprouts, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, a pecan pie and a praline pumpkin pie. I think that's it. DH wants to grill a ham. Other sides will be provided by guests.

Nothing and I am thrilled.
Last year, DH and older son were in England during Thanksgiving, so younger son and I went to the yacht club to eat. And it was The Bomb. Not that the food was better than what I make, but not having to deal with the leftovers and well, turkey, was great. I don't like turkey so making it and then having to figure out ways to serve it for days is blechy. Even when DH and oldest son are here, it's just the 4 of us usually for Thanksgiving so leftovers last a long time.
This year, youngest son begged if we could go back to the club again. Seemed reasonable to me, so that's what we're doing. Let everybody eat all the turkey they want (I'll stick to the stone crab claws) and then walk away...

We are going to nephew's house as he has the little ones. There will be 15 of us. I am in charge of the gravy and I am making two pumpkin pies, apple crisp, oatmeal/cranberry/white chocolate cookies and cherry turnovers. We love turkey so I bought one to cook over the weekend so we can have leftovers too!
I have my own little tradition, In the morning I do the baking while DH is off watching a 5K race he used to run in. In between different pies, I call and talk to friends and family I won't see and tell them I'm thankful for having them in my life.
I just love Thanksgiving, so much fun! Hope you all have a great one too!

Turkey seasoned w/ adobo, Paula Deen mashed potatoes, whipped sweet potato casserole, roasted veggies (and baby carrots for DS), Gouda mac and cheese, and buttermilk biscuits (from the can lol). I've been invited to a Friendsgiving Saturday and I'm making mac and cheese again.... maybe with smoked Gouda this time.

I've been asked to bring brownies. I will probably also make a couple apple pies, mainly because I love having apple pie for breakfast the day after Thanksgiving.

We're going to SIL's and I'm bringing ham. She specifically asked for it. There will be about 30 people there so we'll eat in shifts. I think I may bring an apple cranberry crisp too. I love it and the ones who bring the dessert always seem to get storebought stuff. Blech!

I'm cooking so I pretty much do it all. I'm make a turkey, sausage stuffing, kielbasa, mashed potatoes, green casserole and croissants (I have the same recipe as jen!lol). I might do roasted veggies, too. Not sure as there are only going to be 6 of us and I don't want too much food.
I'm also making a cheesecake for dessert. My mom is supposed to bring sweet potatoes and a chocolate cake but she normally forgets to bring anything so I'm not counting on it. I always assign her stuff I don't like so I don't care when she forgets!

I'm bringing the entertainment. (Small children.)
My mom also wants me to do the green beans.
Me: "Ok, what kind of green beans?" Mom: "You know, the kind you did before." Me: "Before?" Mom: "The year I had the surgery. Like right after that." Me: "Ummm. Ok. What did they have in them?" Mom: "Well, green beans." Me: "Anything else? Garlic? Butter? Nuts? Vinegar? Anything?" Mom: "Well I think you blanched them. And there was some other stuff."
Helpful.

I just read that a local takeout restaurant is doing thanksgiving dinners. they will deliver to those who can't get out/afford one/will otherwise go without. I think you can buy them too. I will eat my turkey dinner in the quiet of my own house and be deliriously happy.

I am cooking for either 4 people, 6 people, or possibly 8 people (depends on if one is having surgery this week or not). Whatever number it is, this is what I am making:
21 lb turkey, gravy, vegan turkey, stuffing, vegan stuffing, mashed potatoes, vegan mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn, broccoli, cranberry sauce, and rolls. Apple pie, vegan apple pie, coconut cream pie, vegan coconut cream pie, and chocolate cream pie.
If it is only the four of us (me, DH, and 2 teens), it is really a 21lb turkey for DH and me, since the teens are both vegan! And I hate leftovers, lol, but DH loves them and will eat turkey for every meal for the next week.
Oh, and fun fact. The 21 lb turkey was $6. The mini football sized vegan turkey was $15!

A few of the local restaurants do put on a very goidThanksgiving spread that we've hit a few times. TD mentioned last week about hitting one again this year, but it was way too late to get reservations.
