that sounds amazing, @donethat. almost worth the trip to the ER for the crawfish! we also had sprouts, but ours were roasted with garlic and onion.

My cream pies did not set properly. I think I messed up on their cook times, what I thought was thick enough was not thick enough to actually set. I tried holding them in my lap but when DH started driving I ended up wearing them. We had to stop at a gas station so we could clean the car seat and my dress. I had to wash my coat when we got home.

Poor DS. The surf was hard to eat with nothing to use to get the shell off but scissors so that’s on my list for him for Christmas. Then the filets turned the place smoky and when we were halfway through dinner he mentioned he forgot the asparagus and dessert!! I’m glad it was just the two of us and we had plenty of champagne and wine!!😂

Just the 4 of us. I made a turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, steamed green beans, salad, apple and egg-free-pumpkin pies. We also had those squishy white dinner rolls that I bought at Whole Foods as an attempt to pretend that the Whole Foods' version is healthier than Pepperidge Farms'. Everything came out really yummy and DH and the boys praised my cooking (as they should, LOL) and thanked me for a wonderful Thanksgiving Day. They did help, but I did the bulk of the work because I like to cook (when I can do so in a relaxed manner).

SORRY!! Warning! Zaire is about to brag!!! (1) I am stuffed! as I am cutting the meat off the Turkey bone. I keep missing putting the turkey in the container, and it goes in my mouth! It's so dang delicious! (2) I am so FN lazy and full. I just could not turn around and take the two steps over to get a proper cutting knife! As I was standing right next to the silverware drawer. so what I did was open the drawer and used a butter knife to cut the meat off the bone to put in the container! LOL! YES! meaning that my Turkey came out so tender and juicy. I was able to cut it with a butter knife!

First time I ever cooked a Thanksgiving meal was 30 years ago, and it was for over 30 people. I spent a year volunteering at a Catholic Worker house where we had two locations: one in "town" and a 15 acre farmhouse 25 miles away. I was the staff person at the farm (since I was the only staff person with any farming experience). That Thanksgiving all the residents from in town came out to the farm for Thanksgiving meal. 2 twenty pound turkeys and made six pumpkin pies from scratch. Turned out great. I don't think I've made a pumpkin pie from scratch since then, just have used the canned pumpkin mix.

20 years ago, I got a recipe for stuffing off the internet. It had sausage in it. My sister has made it 100 times since then, meanwhile, I didn't even save the recipe. I still get credit for it. They call it "Aunt Thyme's stuffing." Lol.

Everything came out great. Just enjoyed a huge plate of leftovers for lunch.
Haven't even cracked open the pie yet. was just not in the mood last night and neither was anyone else.
There were so many "must have" dishes, that for most things it was just a heaped tablespoon on the plate.....and there were a few we planned that didn't get made.....

Thanksgiving is over, but today I'm cooking at least 2 gallons of beef broth (16 pounds of beef bones), and hopefully will do another 12-16 pounds of bones later. Tomorrow I get to can it all...

Our food came out pretty bland this year. I don't think DH brined the turkey as much as usual. I finally got the gravy figured out this year, but should have added salt and pepper, since the broth that went into it was lacking flavor. Maybe I'll attempt to make an additional pie next year.
