Baseball.
10 minutes of action pressed into 3 hours.
DH tries to tell me that there is all kinds of strategy going on at all times and it's an exciting game.
No, no it's not.
....
I'm going to Mom Hell for this but when he was 6, my youngest son asked if he could join a team and play baseball after school. I didn't even hesitate or try to soften the blow, the reply was a flat, "No." No further discussion. To be fair, it's really rare for me not to be supportive of whatever weird thing my kids want to try. But I know my limits. First, this is a kid with ZERO hand/eye coordination. You could literally underhand slow pitch a nerf ball at him and it would bounce off his forehead without him even blinking. Plus, this is Florida and the idea of sitting through each 2 hour practice in the blazing sun with nothing interesting to watch and a kid who was destined for the way, way, beyond outfield was more than I could give. I'm going to mom hell too. In our case it's soccer.

Well, I am going to all kinds of Mom-heaven bc I just spent 5.5 hrs on Sat at my kids' chess tournament. The actual total playing time was about 2.5 hrs. The rest of the time....well, I don't know what was happening bc I pretty much tuned it all out.

Salmon (or most fish), jogging, pilates, watching a sporting event, cleaning/organizing, being crafty Pilates surprises me.

you're not drinking enough while doing them... I don't like alcohol either. That's probably the problem.

Winter activities. (I loved sledding & skating when I was a kid. Now I'd just rather stay indoors & read when the sNOw arrives.) Sushi Pregnancy (I love my kids, but I was sicker than a dog. Morning sickness lasted way longer than the 3 month mark for me. Didn't like my legs & ankles & feet swelling up, either.) Mushrooms & olives (keep that fungus OFF my pizza!)

Salmon (or most fish), jogging, pilates, watching a sporting event, cleaning/organizing, being crafty Pilates surprises me. you are supposed to do it to gain core strength, but to do the exercises properly you need core strength. It's a vicious cycle.

Yep- I'm from a family of avid golfers and find it BORING and a lousy cardiac workout, too. (Most courses discourage you from carrying your own clubs.) My Ex loved deep-sea fishing and fishing from the shore for bluefish. Also boring , and deep-sea fishing off NJ was a budget-buster because he refused to go on the big "party boats". He had to charter a private vessel that was up to his standards. And team sports- maybe because I was always so crappy at them myself.

Food: Seafood/fish/shrimp or anything that lives underwater. Mushrooms. Just no.
Activities: I really like just about any activity. Golf is ok (as mentioned) if you drink enough. I'll go fishing but I don't eat what I catch. Not big on basketball but mostly because I'm terrible.
I'm really not a big fan of going to concerts. I still go once a year or so, but they are loud, sweaty, hot, smelly and the music isn't usually as good. I think I'm weird though on this one.

By "tried liking" I'm going to assume that means doing the thing several times over a period of time and hoping the experience becomes "fun" . 1.) pop music 2.) Reality TV 3.) Seinfeld (it wasn't funny and the characters are nasty "toxic" people) 4.) Sex and the City (it wasn't funny and I couldn't figure out if the characters were 13yo girls who got their wish to be "older sophisticated" women OR if the women had lead really really really sheltered lives up until the series takes place? Maybe I should have watched more than 4 episodes). 5.) Beer and whisky/bourbon. ICK! just ICK! now Gin... that's a whole nother story - just put a straw in the bottle and I'm good to go. 6.) Dark Chocolate - nasty bitter awfulness. 7.) anything chocolate, chocolate and some more chocolate smothered on for overkill. 8.) any sort of 'flavored' or adulterated (milk, sugar) coffee. Coffee should be black - not brown or pale and should not be sweetened in any way. 9.) Honey from a Bear Bottle. I have no words for how awful this is. 10.) Maple flavored corn syrup. I have no words for how awful that is. I'd probably list off some sports - but I never really tried to 'like' any of them. I won't watch it on TV (unless it's a party) and while I'll go to a game - I mostly go to eat and people watch and generally not watch the actual sport game going on.

Jazz cross-country skiing loud, crowded places cooking mushrooms and onions I used to really like yoga, but I just don't have the patience for it any more. Balancing my checkbook. Being outside in anything but ideal weather. Cleaning. Being social.
I'm sure there's a lot more.

I couldn't head off the little league thing because DH is such a baseball fan, but I brought a book (no Ipods back in the stone ages) and sat on the bleacher and read. DH poked me if there was ever anything happening on the field.
Almost never was.
And they don't allow beer at those little league games.

What do you guys hate about Jazz? I didn't list it (because I never tried to like it, LOL) but I find it very jarring. It's too random for my taste. I'll be sitting there listening, "bee bop bee bop doot doot doo do do doooo.... BADABADAAAAAAAAA" *Mid jumps out of skin*

I'm not a big fan of most sports, but my son's little league this summer was so rewarding. I had no idea team sports could be like that. My son managed to get himself on an excellent team that won the final tournament. The coach was super into it doing his best along with the team, but didn't push at all. My son was one of the worst on the team (similar to Milee's description of her son)--he really isn't very coordinated at all. But, we learned that we can improve by practicing, and really make a contribution to the team's performance, even if we aren't the star player. I say we, because my own experiences with team sports had always been kind of shitty.

It's like notes in a blender. Really sad to hear it. If it makes you feel any better, I do like jazz elements in other music--like hard rock infused with some jazz.
