I am a female . I voted for Trump because I want a man who isn't a shriveling wussy and who will actually deal with issues rather than pretend and hide from them. Thanks sooo much Michelle! Sorry your husband was unable to fill that bill! You have no clue. So you want a man who would grab your (rhymes with wussy) instead of a man who respects his wife and daughters. Very sad. Obama dealt with and handled many issues. Trump has proven he can't handle the job or his party. I would never date Trump, let alone marry him. But there have been a few men that I worked for over the years that were fantastic at what they did but horrific husbands. I have the ability to separate the two so I voted for Trump. I take that back, I voted against Hillary because I did not want to continue down the path we have been going and I certainly didn't want her hand in the Supreme Court. I'm a conservative and my political views do not align with Hillary's. Nothing more, nothing less. But I can separate a candidate's personal life from his/her ability to do the job.
Now, whether Trump can ultimately do what he promised is another story. I would much rather Trump not get anything accomplished than Hillary to get in and get her agenda accomplished. At a minimum, she didn't get her hand in the SC pick and that means a lot to em.

sending out taunting tweets is the perfect way to deal with complex foreign policy issues!!! No. And as for someone who voted for him, I really wish someone would disable his freaking twitter account! I can't tell if he is doing it to distract everyone or if he forgets that he is now the President, but it needs to stop.

Oh please. You want to talk about double standards, could you imagine the media shitstorm if a white male had said stuff like that? The only reason we're even discussing it now is because I brought it up. So I don't want to hear how poor Michelle is a victim for expressing an opinion and everyone is just so mean because she's black/female. So I take it your view is that being black/female exempts one from critique and engagement of their ideas? That seems patronizing in and of itself. I'm sure Michelle's a big girl a can handle whatever critique I and others can lobby towards her opinions. No one said Michelle was a victim. Most of us said that you are interpreting what she said a certain way, and we didn't interpret it that way. Just a difference of opinion. That's kind of a common thing that happens, actually - people not agreeing.
And stating that being black/female exempts you from critique and engagement of their ideas isn't remotely what anyone on this board said - at all.
The reason Michelle didn't get attacked in the media for yelling at women for not voting for Hillary because all women who didn't vote for Hillary were anti-women is because that is not what she said - that's just what you translated her words to mean, when you read it with your biased eyes.
Sorry I can't get excited about your imaginary insult by Michelle. Sorry no one else is that excited by it, either. Sorry this seems to have become a burr under your saddle. Just sorry in general that you're tilting at windmills that no one else gives a shit about.
Alright then, fair enough. Next time people on this message board get all bent out of shape when Trump says one thing or another, I'll say that's not what he really said, you're reading into it with biased eyes and it's not really a big deal. It's all in your head.
I wonder what you'll say then?

Trumps people are constantly tell us what he really meant. That's why I stopped watching the daily WH briefings. The lies are too much. When left alone to tweet or talk off the teleprompter he makes a fool of himself. He wants to run the country like a business that he owns and isn't.

www.cnn.com/2017/09/27/politics/michelle-obama-women-voters
"In candid remarks Wednesday, former first lady Michelle Obama said women who voted for Republican nominee Donald Trump over Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton went against their "authentic voice" in the 2016 presidential election.
"Any woman who voted against Hillary Clinton voted against her own voice. She said at the Inbound 2017 conference in Boston, according to video from inside the event.
"What does it mean for us women that we look at those two candidates, as women, and many of us said, that guy, he's better for me, his voice is more true to me." Obama said. "Well, to me that just says you don't like your voice. You don't like the thing you're told to like."
Can you imagine the shit storm that would be playing in the media right now, and on these message boards, if a white, male, republican had lectured women over voting for someone? Or, God forbid, if Trump had lectured women about voting for Hillary?
But I've not heard a peep from anyone about this.
Why do people think it's okay for Michelle Obama to lecture women like this? Maybe I don't understand feminism, but I thought the whole point was to empower women to make their own choices. But Michelle Obama is basically wagging her finger and lecturing women who didn't agree with her and it's just no big deal?
I would just as soon let women make up their own minds about who's the right person to vote for, about who represents them best, but apparently Michelle disagrees. A double standard is OK, as long it's your double standard.

That is interesting. Why did Obama get it away from Hillary ? I was so busy concentrating on the Pubs not coming up with a decent candidate AGAIN that I missed that. I figured she got paid off with SOS for backing down but how did this guy come out of Illinois, one of the most corrupt states as far as politics goes but basically out of nowhere to beat her out of the nomination? Because "anyone is better than Hillary" applied back then, too?

All the time. People often perceive themselves as being way more devastating than they actually are. Outrage, posturing, buzzwords, outrageous adjectives, questions loaded with unproven premise, pfft. On topic is the easy way to go.

Yeah, i don't like the "vote for a woman because you're a woman" I voted for Hillary because Trump is, well, Trump. No need to go into that. But did she say, "vote for a woman because you're a woman", or did she say, "vote for a woman because Trump is terrible for women"? (I'm really asking this--because I'm too lazy to see if there was more to what she said in the link.) I don't know how to take it other than that we should have voted for Hillary because she was a woman...
"Quite frankly, we saw this in this election. As far as I'm concerned, any woman who voted against Hillary Clinton voted against their own voice,"
not sure how else to take that other than to mean that because I'm a woman I should agree with Hillary. I saw many women on my FB (and honestly, a few of them I consider to be super intelligent, even if they are liberals ) say they were voting with their vagina. So perhaps I'm biased because of that...

So it is lack of charisma that made Hillary lose versus everyone thinking a woman couldn't do the job? It's not a simple answer. Some people won't vote for a woman. Some just wanted a change from the usual Washington faces. There are as many answers as there are voters, but I do think her policy wonky personality turns people off

I have no problem voting for a woman that aligns with what I believe in. but I will never vote for someone just because they have a vagina.
Truth be told, I don't even care all that much about personality. Obama has an amazing stage presence, very energizing and uplifting. I think that alone drew a lot of people to him. But I will vote for the boring guy he stammers through a speech over someone like that if they more align with my beliefs.

I saw a report about a study years ago. People can pick out the winner in an election with remarkable accuracy--just by looking at their pictures. Or a video on mute. No voice, no stances on issues. Just the charisma they have.

I'm not sure how you can take comments like "any women who voted against Hillary Clinton voted against her own voice" as anything but a rebuke for voting for Trump, but whatever. It seems pretty crystal clear to me. She's stating it as an absolute. If you are a woman and you voted for Trump you voted against your own self interest is exactly what she's saying.
You're obviously reading with biased eyes.

I've often wondered what the pay-off was between the bama camp and the hillary camp in 2008. She dropped out of the race too quickly and easily.
My guess is the bama camp promised her the nomination in 2016 .... which they fulfilled.
Glad the American people saw things a little differently.

And you got a toddler who just discovered Puerto Rico was an island. Whose idea of "dealing" with issues is to tweet stupid things in the middle of the night. Who bragged about sexually assaulting women. Congratulations.
