I am a female . I voted for Trump because I want a man who isn't a shriveling wussy and who will actually deal with issues rather than pretend and hide from them. Thanks sooo much Michelle! Sorry your husband was unable to fill that bill! You have no clue. So you want a man who would grab your (rhymes with wussy) instead of a man who respects his wife and daughters. Very sad. Obama dealt with and handled many issues. Trump has proven he can't handle the job or his party.

There was that sworn deposition (you know, under oath) that he raped Ivana. How inconvenient.
And that 13 year old....too bad after years of recovering from Trump's sadomasochistic ministrations, that the death threats scared her off just when she was ready to testify and had a witness.

I don't see it as "finger wagging" or "lecturing" either. She is a female, she has an opinion, a strong one, she is voicing it...no one is required to listen to it or learn from even though many probably should learn from it. Oh, and she is black so that makes it even worse.
Hey Swamp, I've been called a 'bitch' too, why?...cause I made the venders delivering to the store where I worked follow the rules, they thought with a woman they could try to slide stuff past me, didn't work! It's part of being a woman in a position of responsibility/power...many men don't like it!

Sorry your husband was unable to fill that bill! I feel like I could make a pretty long post on this, but here's just a couple.
Shriveling wussy or man who deals with issues? You decide!
- Uses golf cart while other world leaders walk
- Begs Mexican President not to tell the truth, because he made campaign
statements they both know he can't keep

I "get" what Ms. Obama was trying to say. You shouldn't vote against your own best interest. A union worker shouldn't vote for an anti-union candidate. Women shouldn't vote for a candidate who has shown himself to be anti-woman. (Hint: if a candidate shows he is unable to treat women as an equal before an election, don't expect him to suddenly change after the election.)

If that's not a man respecting his daughter, I don't know what is! Oh, and speculating on the "size of her tits" while she was a baby. Charming.

Oh kiss off lady, you don't speak for me. Geez. Did you tell your idol, Lady Gaga, to "kiss off, you don't speak for me", when she was campaigning for Hillary? Or are you just attacking Michelle because you hate her so much? Rather hypocritical, no?

www.cnn.com/2017/09/27/politics/michelle-obama-women-voters
"In candid remarks Wednesday, former first lady Michelle Obama said women who voted for Republican nominee Donald Trump over Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton went against their "authentic voice" in the 2016 presidential election.
"Any woman who voted against Hillary Clinton voted against her own voice. She said at the Inbound 2017 conference in Boston, according to video from inside the event.
"What does it mean for us women that we look at those two candidates, as women, and many of us said, that guy, he's better for me, his voice is more true to me." Obama said. "Well, to me that just says you don't like your voice. You don't like the thing you're told to like."
Can you imagine the shit storm that would be playing in the media right now, and on these message boards, if a white, male, republican had lectured women over voting for someone? Or, God forbid, if Trump had lectured women about voting for Hillary?
But I've not heard a peep from anyone about this.
Why do people think it's okay for Michelle Obama to lecture women like this? Maybe I don't understand feminism, but I thought the whole point was to empower women to make their own choices. But Michelle Obama is basically wagging her finger and lecturing women who didn't agree with her and it's just no big deal?
I would just as soon let women make up their own minds about who's the right person to vote for, about who represents them best, but apparently Michelle disagrees. To put the comment in a little more context regarding why she was talking about women and their voice, the remarks you quoted above followed this:
Obama took a moment to encourage women to make their voices heard.
“We think 12 times before we open our mouths—‘Well maybe I’m wrong’” she began. “We argue with ourselves in our head and we think that ‘Before I speak up, it has to be perfect,’ while the guy is like blah blah blah … Not thinking about perfect, right, or anything—he’s just like ‘I’m used to hearing my voice.’ That’s what happens to a lot of people. And if you’ve been socialized to think your voice doesn’t matter—and it’s done in very subtle ways: maybe it happened at your dinner table with the father you adored who would talk right over you, or the brothers who just took up too much space and you learned to be quiet, or the mother who told you that being ladylike meant that you watched your words and you didn’t interrupt … There’s so much that goes on that shushes us.”
Do I believe that ALL women who voted fro Trump did so because they had been raised to think that women should be ladylike and demure, and that as such Clinton did not sit well with them? Of course not. Do I think that is true for some women (and men)? Yes, I do. Is there really anyone here who doesn't acknowledge that an outspoken woman is perceived differently, and much less favorably, than an outspoken man?
It's subconscious. If she had 5 kids with 3 different women and cheated and said shit like he did.... I heard people blame her for her husbands cheating. But not blame trump for his own behavior... that stuff is systemic, not necessarily conscious.

All feminists disagree with women's choices when they don't match the feminist agenda. That's not limited to Michelle Obama. My favorite feminist outcry against women is when they attack married women that CHOOSE to take care of the house because they DON'T WANT TO "WORK" (housework is work, but you know what I mean).

I was surprised women voted for Trump after he reminded us during the campaign how he treats women. Going back to the 60's avoiding the draft and not getting a STD to trying to get a married woman into bed while he was also married to getting his next wife pregnant while he was still married..... How the Evangelists supported such an immoral man also shocks me. He got a conservative into the Supreme Court so it's time to get rid of him before he does anymore damage to our reputation as a nation. I don't give a rip for anyone's rationale for voting FOR a serial sexual assaulter. And evangelicals who voted for him because they call themselves "pro-life" demonstrated that they are neither pro-life nor do they care about moral values.

I don't know why it's become a bad thing to want an intelligent, logical, and well-spoken leader. I DON'T want my President to be just like me or to represent the people around me because most people are morons. He/She should be more learned than the majority population about world events, foreign policy/relations, finances.... if not, s/he should be surrounded by advisors who can pick up where s/he lacks. Would you want to learn from a teacher who has a teaching degree and experience in pedagogy and the subject matter, or a person off the street whose only credentials are being able to Google the "lesson" the night before actually teaching it?
IMO the Presidents should be held to a higher standard because THEY ARE LEADERS OF A FREAKING COUNTRY! Yes, anyone could be President, but that is not to say that anyone should be President.

How the heck did a thread about Mrs. Obama turn into a Trump thread. Is there a complete inability to focus going on here lately?
I enjoy listening to Mrs. Obama speak and I don't think she meant that women should have voted for Mrs. Clinton because she was female. I have no doubt in my mind that if a male and female candidate ran for office and Mrs. Obama truly felt the male was the better choice - she would vote for the male. I imagine she did it in the primaries 8 or 9 years ago.
But? I can see how some heard that.

Oh please. You want to talk about double standards, could you imagine the media shitstorm if a white male had said stuff like that? The only reason we're even discussing it now is because I brought it up. So I don't want to hear how poor Michelle is a victim for expressing an opinion and everyone is just so mean because she's black/female. So I take it your view is that being black/female exempts one from critique and engagement of their ideas? That seems patronizing in and of itself. I'm sure Michelle's a big girl a can handle whatever critique I and others can lobby towards her opinions.

I'm sure Michelle's a big girl a can handle whatever critique I and others can lobby towards her opinions. No one said Michelle was a victim. Most of us said that you are interpreting what she said a certain way, and we didn't interpret it that way. Just a difference of opinion. That's kind of a common thing that happens, actually - people not agreeing.
And stating that being black/female exempts you from critique and engagement of their ideas isn't remotely what anyone on this board said - at all.
The reason Michelle didn't get attacked in the media for yelling at women for not voting for Hillary because all women who didn't vote for Hillary were anti-women is because that is not what she said - that's just what you translated her words to mean, when you read it with your biased eyes.
Sorry I can't get excited about your imaginary insult by Michelle. Sorry no one else is that excited by it, either. Sorry this seems to have become a burr under your saddle. Just sorry in general that you're tilting at windmills that no one else gives a shit about.

If a white man had said what exactly? if a white man had said to other white men that they should vote for a white man?!?! Because that has NEVER happened in the history of the universe, my stars!!! White men tell us all the time which white men to vote for because that particular white man will serve our interest. Should I get some examples? Paul Ryan endorses Trump because they want to reverse the ACA (among other things.) Jeff Sessions endorsed Trump to "protect Americans from the ills of immigration" I could go on and on, with examples all the way back to Adams and Jefferson. She said that Trump's policies would not benefit women. Just as many said that Hillary's policies would not benefit the coal minors. And that Hillary's policies were anti-Christian. No one got all panties -in-a-wad about those statements.

That is interesting. Why did Obama get it away from Hillary ? I was so busy concentrating on the Pubs not coming up with a decent candidate AGAIN that I missed that. I figured she got paid off with SOS for backing down but how did this guy come out of Illinois, one of the most corrupt states as far as politics goes but basically out of nowhere to beat her out of the nomination?
