Having lived though some big blizzards, including the infamous "Halloween Blizzard" in 1991, I personally have never been trapped inside my house, or my neighborhood, for more than 2 days. Some areas have lost electricity for longer than than, but I imagine a near hit by a hurricane would be a hundred times worse.

To be fair, there will be plenty of idiots running around outside in the storm. I've done it during tropical storms 😋 They rarely have lighting, which is rare to have rain in Florida with little chance of being struck by lightning. Just watch out for flying trees 😉

I didn't read it but hopefully it's just based off the fake Facebook events going on. There's one to turn your fans that way, etc etc. Some are stupid a few are hilarious.

My adult son moved to Orlando 2 months ago. He has never been in a hurricane. He is staying in his apartment and doesn't know anybody down there. If I could have gotten off work I would have flown there to be with him.

If I could have gotten off work I would have flown there to be with him. It keeps moving west, so it shouldn't be too crazy. Worst case scenario, make sure he realizes to take advantage of working for Disney. They will be up asap. So he'll be able to go there for food once they open again. There will be a lot of places with ac (can't tell you how many times I've just sat in the aquarium or spaceship earth). Etc. Disney has their own power plant and a lot of underground wires so they won't be out for long. I honestly can't remember a time they were closed after the storm passed.

I'm off Bayshore in a mandatory evacuation. I may go to Cheval tomorrow. Car is ready. Bag is ready. Isn't tomorrow too late? Maybe if you don't have bridges to go over. My friend left st Pete this morning at 4am heading north. No bridges. I even went back home this am to pick up some stuff.

Yeah, she slowed down a lot. Still just sprinkling, the tougher bands are still a bit further south than me already.
