She said Barron was going to finish out his school year in NY right after the election. Not sure what was so unclear about that? But, i guess Liberals gotta lib, lib, lib and create drama.

A certain poster (who shall remain nameless) should be very happy. The Secret Service cost should drop for NYC to a normal level of Presidential protection protocol and the NYC police can go to stand by, except for the fifty or so police that NYC decides to leave there in their politically connected plum positions that the Mayor claims are necessary to leave on duty there until Trump sells his mansion and the entire complex. No mention when the Mayor demands the U.N. and Embassies start paying their fair share of the police protection provided, as will as all outstanding parking tickets.

I hope all goes well for the little guy. It's probably pretty tough leaving your friends and familiar surroundings.

Not sure why this was EVER a big deal. It was the plan from the beginning.

Not sure why this was EVER a big deal. It was the plan from the beginning. Every little thing that can be spun into a negative, is a big deal when you lose an election, with a Electoral margin that Hillary did to Trump. A lot of unbelieving bruised ego's out there. They are still reaching for anything to assuage the pain.

She said she would move into the WH at the end of the school year, and there was no reason to doubt that.

And yet, so many did doubt it. Made a huge deal from it that there was trouble in paradise, she'd never move, blah, blah, blah. The news media, gossips and rumor mills went crazy with all sorts of speculations.

Then perhaps everyone should stop thinking of her as a trophy wife. Perhaps people should stop labeling others to fit their needs rather than what they truly are.

Then I guess the Clintons are just a marriage of political convenience......I don't think anyone thinks there is real love there either
But as Hillary so eloquently said "At this point, what difference does it make?"

I really don't understand people not being able to self examine and positively receive criticism. I had quite a few coworkers and boss's tell me "wow, you really take criticism well and can admit when you are wrong"......I was like, what else can I do but that?
I don't understand the posters here that were up in arms spouting off how Melania would "probably" never move into the white house, blah blah blah.....but now they are no where to be found........just like the posters on election night screaming how the markets would crash, they were selling everything, blah blah blah.....now they vanished or even deny it (except for one of them)

I didn't think she'd move. I can admit that. I don't think that's hard.
I will also admit that I find it odd that in 2 months, she's only been to visit him once and I don't believe he's been to visit her at all. I have some issues with my dh but I like to think that both of us would have wanted to hang out together in person. But there's a lot about their relationship I'm not privy to. It's not really my business.

I'm surprised she is moving. From their body language, I don't think they like each other very much.

IDK if she'll be as comfortable in the WH and DC as she would be in her home in Trump towers and NYC. Got to be a big change.

Then perhaps everyone should stop thinking of her as a trophy wife. Perhaps people should stop labeling others to fit their needs rather than what they truly are. Why? That is what she is. Perhaps they both do truly love each other too. Of that I have no idea. Most of us will never truly know what a couple's relationship is as so much of it happens in private. And frankly I'm not sure how much of our business it is whether a President is married for love or has a trophy type relationship. Maybe it's time for the US to move on from the antiquated idea that the country gets a free built-in hostess AKA "First Lady". Melania didn't run for office and it seems unfair for people to assume that she should give up her life and serve an unpaid (yet very open to public comment and criticism) role. If the country really needs a host or similar position, maybe that should be an employee that serves in that role instead of assuming a wife will do it as a volunteer. I'm not a Trump supporter, nor was I a Clinton supporter, so this is not coming from any desire to defend any certain person. I said the same thing when Bill Clinton was running for President and criticism was leveled at how nontraditional (code for works outside the home, has her own opinions and doesn't stay home baking cookies) Hillary was and how she wouldn't be a good First Lady. Years ago, this was how the church minister system in the south often worked. The minister or pastor was of course a man and when he was hired, the church got a free extra employee because his wife would serve as an unpaid full time volunteer doing anything from volunteer coordination to tending to sick people to being the music or youth program director. Heck, in the last few decades even churches have moved into the modern era and realized how unfair to women this system is so now you see minister's wives working outside the church or often being hired as a church employee. Churches aren't known for their progressive approach, so if churches have figured out it's sexist and passe to expect a wife to be a full time, unpaid volunteer for whatever organization her husband serves, it's pretty sad that this country hasn't realized this yet.

He went to a private school where there were other kids his own age who have rich parents too. Do you think he will now have more play dates in D.C.? In Washington, the boy will be going to a private school with other students his own age and whose parents can afford to send their children to private schools. The kid will have as many play dates in Washington as he did in NYC. That is if his parents allow him to have play dates.

I wonder how she feels about his treatment of women. Saying he was trying to get a married woman into bed when he was married to her (I think, 2005). His divorces, cheating, saying he can get any woman. He gives men a bad name.

Sasha Obama was even younger than Barron when her father was first elected, so it can't be that. why is this kid so special that he can't adapt like the others?

And I agree with another poster they don't look to me like they are very close, he walks off from her, doesn't even bother to stand with her. Of course, maybe I'm reading to much into it. I hope she does as this is costing the country a lot of money. All the other presidential young kids moved when the parents did.

I wouldn'care if 45 would pay for the added, unnecessary security. But, this family is leeching off the taxpayers like no one else ever thought of.

Yep. Trumps big get rich plan is to "leach" off the tax payers for that one semester for Baron to finish a school year and pay for trips to Florida.
It's not like Trump is rich and would have done stuff like this whether or not he was president.
I think he specifically set up his Mara-lago estate in anticipation of being POTUS to milk the tax payers

I have read he increased rates for that and trump tower once the stuff is billed to the taxpayers, whether its true or not, can't say.
By the way they were wiretapping 2 floors below trump because of a Russian gambling operation being run there. They put some of them in jail but the kingpin got away. Strange all this activity around the guy, to much smoke to not be fires.

Security, paid for by U.S. citizens, will still be needed at Trump Plaza whether anyone is at the residence or not. As it has been at every President's home residence. There is a different security level when they are not home. At least in Chicago, it is not as physically evident, although normal citizens are not allowed to just wander by the residence on a whim whether they are there or not. When I get back this spring, i will have to check it out now, and see if it has eased up, since D.C. is their new permanent residence. Since it is, I imagine the Secret Service has moved on from the Chicago residence already. I wonder if Chicago P.D. is still on the scene there wasting city taxes........

I guess the poster did not know the Russian mobs are all over NYC, filling the Italian mob collapse.

Melanie not moving into the White House for her sons sake never bothered me. Yes, Obama's children moved but I mean I don't think it's fair on children to be forced to move into a White House, away from what they know, I know it happens all the time but if they felt it was in Barron's best interest... I don't mind. I never did mind with this. Maybe, because I have a soft heart for children and I even have a soft heart for Barron because it's got to be difficult having your dad be that hated, or him just being President in general. Barron is not his father. Maybe, he'll be like him someday but as of now all he is... is a sweet kid... I can honestly say I believe he's a good kid just by the way he presents himself. He has a lot handed to him but that's not fair on him to be crude because of it.
What I have an issue with is Donald Trump going to a golf resort when he complained about Obama who went to a golf resort as well. What I have an issue with is how Americans have to pay for his kids business trips overseas where he's making money off of these business trips while Americans are getting their money taken away. That's what I have an issue with. I have no issue protecting the little boy that wanted to stay in New York for school with friends... and his mother who is taking care of him. What I have an issue with is spending money to send his kids across sea to do business not for America but for his company.
