Wasabi should be renamed to Swifter. And Wasabi looks like E.T. but with hair.

Mutts would have to be a special category as they are judged on breed characteristics. However, there is a huge bias towards the hairy flowing coat dogs when it comes to Best in Show and even winning a category. A Bulldog did very well (last year?), but I think it was partially because French Bulldogs are so popular. I think it shows bias, and if you agree, write them and say so. Since I have allergies, I prefer dogs like Labs and short coated dogs. I did enjoy the agility trials the day before. Watched part of the judging, but I tuned out before they worked through all the classes.

A video of Sherpa the Husky getting tired of opening mail. I like the way the owner has trained him to do the high five as a way to thank people for what they send them.

We used to have to spell car and ride instead of saying them in front of our dog. Could not say the words and if we did she went nuts.

I imagine the homeowners had a drink or twenty before they finally decide when and where they would begin cleaning up the mess.

www.msn.com/en-us/lifestyle/pets-animals/camera-shows-dog-comforting-crying-baby-sister-with-his-favorite-toy/ar-AAMLoWO?ocid=msedgntpMore pics in the article. Nice to have a happy story to post. “We have had him around family and friends, toddlers and children in the past, and his whole character changes. He gets down to their level and just lies with them, letting them stroke him,” Elliott told The Dodo. “He is so gentle and careful — it must be a natural instinct.”
What the new parents didn’t anticipate was that Tommy wanted to take care of Macie, too. The dog is sensitive to his new sister’s emotions and tries to cheer her up whenever possible.
“He used to do a little sad whine when she cried for the first few days, but has now become used to all the new sounds and smells, so doesn't bat an eyelid,” Elliott said. “He regularly wanders past and checks on her in her cot and, each time, gives a little tail wag if she’s OK.”
Recently, Macie was crying for her bottle when Tommy decided to take things into his own hands. When Macie’s mom went into the kitchen to make a new bottle, Tommy comforted Macie the best way he knew how — by bringing her his favorite toy teddy.

Our boards do not have an 'E E Needs A SPIDER BLOG' so I will just have to post this here. Lady Spruces Up The Home Of The Giant Spider Who Lives On Her Porch"Any less would be just kinda rude and unneighborly.” Fiona Grayson hasn’t always appreciated spiders. Whenever she came across someone with eight legs, her impulse was to “kill on sight.” But by the time she met Cordelia, her thoughts on arachnids had changed. Grayson first realized that she had company in July. “I noticed our cat, Scout, staring intently at something in the gap between where the wall meets the decking on our side porch,” Grayson told The Dodo. “Closer inspection revealed my first glimpse of the large spider who I've come to name Cordelia.” The giant house spider was about the size of Grayson’s palm and had spun sheets of webbing up the side of the house. “I crouched down to get a closer look, and she stayed put, and that's when I noticed her eyes,” Grayson said. “She seemed to be looking up at me, and I fancifully wondered if maybe she was observing me with the same level of curiosity as I was her.” To let her new neighbor know that she was welcome, Grayson decided to spruce up the spider's entryway. First, Grayson created two adorable flower pots, filling them with fennel blossoms to help attract some dinner for Cordelia. That is a big spider. I'd have to know its not poisonous to me to even contemplate that. I think Welts is spider friendly.

anyone ever have to deal with their dog biting someone? LD just tagged the stone delivery guy, who wanted to meet them and who reached over the deck gate to hand me a clipboard to sign off on the delivery. LD jumped up on the gate and punctured his arm in a couple places. I gave the guy his vax info and current town license, and he declined a band-aid b/c there wasn't any need. what happens next? hopefully nothing, but it's better to be realistic about things.

It depends on if he files a complaint and your local rules. Our dog just bruised when she bit but she had previous complaints against her because of charging the fence (often), charging another dog and a previous bruising bite. As an aggressive dog, our City charges a much higher licensing fee. Plus she would have to wear a muzzle when out of our yard. Plus she had to be either tethered or kennelled when out of the house. She was a multiple offender though. I would hope LD would get no more then a warning because it’s a first offense. It could be considered defensive since the stranger reached over to you but that may just be my opinion

I hope he doesn't make a report. Has LD done anything like this before?

legit, I've never had to worry about him defending against contractors before. if I did, neither of my dogs would have been outside while the contractor was here. I was horrified this morning. 😳
my question this morning was a lot procedural. what should I expect if the delivery guy files a complaint against LD's town license. what is the acceptable complaint period?
I just want to make sure I have my shit lined up, just in case😒

I just want to make sure I have my shit lined up, just in case😒 The only help I can give you is what happens here. Your own city/town/state laws/ordinances may be different. You might be able to find something more specific in your area by checking animal/dog bite laws online.
Anyway, here all delivery people are required to report bites to their employer. This is especially true for postal employees, ups drivers, fed-ex. Smaller, privately owned delivery services are also supposed to report them, but that has been hit and miss here depending on type of bite and whether employer wanted to bother with the paperwork involved.
Then, ALL bites reported to employers and any bite seen by a doctor, hospital, clinic, vet, etc. MUST BY LAW, be reported to the local Health Dept., who in turn get the local Humane Society/Pet Control Agency involved. Here, the licensing people do not get involved.
Depending on the severity of the bite, dictates the timeline for investigating what happened. Severe bites are looked at the same day, while something like what happened with LD could take weeks because of staffing and paperwork.
Health Dept. gets involved because of the possibility of Rabies and Animal Control checks into prior complaints, etc. if any. Since LD is current on his shots and is a "first time offender", I doubt anything other than maybe a warning will happen if a report is actually turned in.
What I do worry about for you is you said there were a couple puncture wounds that didn't bleed (didn't need Band-Aid). The mouths of all animals are full of nasty germs. Doesn't matter if it is a dog, cat, squirrel, or whatever. A puncture wound can turn into a full blown dangerous infection in a short period of time and require medical attention. Not saying this WILL happen in your case, just that it can happen.
Please know I'm not trying to scare you by the above, just want to make you aware of what "could" go wrong, which of course I hope doesn't happen!
Hope this helps a little

thanks, it does help. we've had another eventful morning here at LD and Punk's house. I was on the phone, had to go outside to be able to hear. the pups were losing their minds b/c there was a loose pup sniffing around the front yard. well, while I was on the deck, LD climbed onto my barrel chair and pushed out the window screen. he punctured the top of his paw on something, bled a little on the mostly white chair, and jumped out the window to chase the loose pup out of the yard and down the street. he's home now, paw has been cleaned out, chair has been cleaned up, and I cracked open a spiked seltzer. I think I earned it today.

Do you think more obedience training could help LD chill more?

I gave him a CBD dose about an hour ago, he's taking a nap now.
