Have you noticed that EE has cats everywhere. Really cool photos too! However, after viewing the current Westminster Kennel Club best of show, it strikes me we may be shorting man's best friend...not? How about a spot to display some photos, to present those Fido Facts and Factoids? List your thoughts about dogs, which make the best pets. Anyway, A beagle won best of show yesterday . So in 139 years that has happened twice? (Terriers have won 40 times.) What about your favorite pup?

I have a Doberman mix that I adore. I don't know how to post a picture, but I could send one in to post. He's very handsome.

Miniature Labradoodles are surely man's BFF. We didn't know how much our family needed a dog until we got our pup. I suspect they are tiny people in dog costumes, he is that loving/wise/humorous. Way better than any cat. This isn't my pup, but, on a "good hair day", mine looks like this:

My brother got a apricot Havapoo, half havanese and half poodle named Tonka, the darn best dog right out of the gate. Tonka is a winner, he looks like this and he's so good, a real sweetheart :

We keep him out of bedrooms, just in case, and do all the usual allergy precautions such as having hardwoods, FHW heating, etc.

As a sweet Valentine's gesture, I made DH some of his favorite jasmine rice to go with dinner (I had brown rice). My pup heard me mention the word "rice" and got all excited, LOL. Bacon, I understand his excitement. Rice? I've given it to him when he's had vomiting and/or diarrhea, but never as a regular meal or treat. So, my pup got his own sweet Valentine's gesture. <3

We keep him out of bedrooms, just in case, and do all the usual allergy precautions such as having hardwoods, FHW heating, etc. I've always wanted a dog of my own, but never had one. My Dad's allergies came back with a vengeance when we kids had guinea pigs as pets. He developed recurring asthma, so I want a yard and a basement if I ever get a dog, so I don't have to go through what he did. I've been able to stay at other people home's for a few days with only minor problems if they have dogs. With cats, I rarely last more than a few hours.
The only exception was a good friend who had just bought his home a few weeks or few months prior and had mostly hardwood floors. He cleaned well and banished the cat to the basement during the few days I stayed there. No problems that I remember.

I have 2 rescue dogs and they are the best. DD is now living with us and has a dog, so we have 3 now. . I watched the Westminster show last night and the best in show was a German Shepard. I was rooting for what I call the " real dogs". The poodle just looked so funny. Also the Pekingese in the final had so much hair but looked like it could hardly run. The face was cute under all the hair. I also just love watching the handlers and judges. DH was making fun of me for watching, but it was fun.

I let my dog out of his kennel every night to run around before dinner. He's always chasing rabbits and in the past ten years, he's never caught one. Last night he showed up with a very large opossum in his mouth, he was so proud of himself. I couldn't stop laughing and tried to explain to him that wasn't a rabbit...

You don't want to mess with any opossum around here, as they're MEAN. (If you want, my Bad Boy Puppy could give him pointers on catching rabbits, which I'm not proud of, as he doesn't even hear me when he sees one. He tunes me out when he spots a squirrel, too.)

I sent a picture of Jackson to post for me as I'm challenged. My sweet boy flipped his shit last night. He was laying on the kitchen while I was cooking and heard something. He started barking and growling and trying to get out the back door. He took off and I closed the door. When I heard him near the door again I opened it and he was barking and trying to get under the house. Whatever if anything he had cornered had to be very small as their isn't a big space that he was trying to get into but couldn't. I dragged him inside before he freaked out the neighbors. I still don't know what it was. Maybe a mouse or squirrel or something equally as small. It was a tiny space he was trying to get his big ass into. edited by moon to add andi's pic

Ummmm....apologies....Wyouser blew it yesterday...they were showing the beagle all morning from the Westminster event. I thought he won....well, I was wrong! The final was last night and "Rumor" has it!!! The German Shepherd won.

Our property (40 acres)isn't fenced, so the rabbits run much faster than he ever could. He gets so frustrated with himself, you can see his disgust in his eyes. Opossums can be mean, but they will also "play dead" when frightened. There was no blood on this one as my dog has a soft mouth (he's my main bird dog and is trained to hold, but not bite). I suspect the opossum was just playing and the dog gave him a free ride. I'll know for sure when I get home tonight.

I did see on youtube a beagle doing the agility course who kept getting distracted. We used to have 2 beagles. I know how they are!

edited by moon to add andi's pic Good Lord, he is ALL LEGS!! He is. He's tall and skinny and even at that weighs 70 pounds. He's all muscle. The vet thinks he's done growing up and will start to fill out. She said he'll probably put on another 10-20 pounds before he's done growing. He's a big baby. He gets shots tomorrow, so I'll be interested to see if he's put on more weight yet. He is my baby.
