I think he felt my pain of a missed connection thanks to the delayed Delta flight. I was stuck in Utah overnight. Do you know how many strange rules they have regarding alcohol?? Here's two I learned this week: In a bar, we are only allowed to have 1.5 oz alcohol in front of us at a time. That means there are no shots with a beer back. Oh, and one cannot take their adult beverage up to their hotel room. I live in KC which sits on the line between KS and MO. KS has really weird alcohol laws and a lot of us just cross the state line to avoid them. Some live in suburbs which are too far to just jump over the line, but I only live about a half mile from the border so I don't even mess with KS and alcohol. I grew up in WA State. Back then Idaho's drinking age was 19 (not sure if it still is), ours was 21. Soooo convenient.

Apparently. Another rule: They have state owned liquor stores with no refrigerated beer. The thought behind this is you buy it, and, while it's chilling at home, you can think about what you are about to do. They never watched Mythbusters then. I learned you can ice down anything in salted ice water in about 5 minutes. What Could Possibly Go Wrong did a segment on something similar.

Speaking of alcohol. I was at a bar with my cousins last weekend. A few of us were going to do a shot and one cousin didn't know what she wanted. The conversation went a little something like this:
Cuz: I don't know what I want. I don't really do shots.
Me: I'm having SoCo.
Cuz: What's that? I don't think I've had it before?
Me: Southern Comfort. It's good. It's sweet and it goes down easy.
Cuz: Like me?
Me: (Points to the corner) I can't with you. Go over there and think about what you just said.

Has this happened to you? I'm a bachelor tonight. There is plenty of good food in the house. A great chicken pot pie we made last night. But I have a taste for something, anything we don't have. Not even sure what I want.

Not even sure what I want. It does to me, too, ken a.k.a OMK . I usually make a list of bachelor food I want to splurge on. Think cheap Totino's pizza and popcorn. No carbs, of course. Added: Hope you had fun last night.

We had our community dinner last night. It was catered by a local restaurant and the food was delicious. Our HOA president went table to table and asked everyone if it was their choice to continue having the dinners catered each month.....it was an overwhelming YES!!!!
Next dinner is March 11. I've responsible for doing the set up and the decorations will be for St. Patricks Day.

Yesterday: Chicken breasts filled with ham/cheese, broccolini, butternut squash. The breasts were large so we shared one and have leftovers for another day.
Today: Ham with scalloped potatoes and green beans.

I was crazy tired after work. I threw a lasagna in the oven. Cost I don't remember what I bought it for. Probably in the $7 range.

Tonight is something. Probably grilled cheese and tomato soup.
I need to start working on the freezer so maybe tomorrow I will do a piece of halibut with roasted veggies and rice.

Last night we ended up grilling a ribeye and eating it with a lobster tail, sharing both. Let's just say the grocery store is very good at marketing Valentine's Day. It was really good, though, and the beef was on sale. Total cost $16.23. It's my bd, so hopefully DH doesn't expect me to cook tonight. Tomorrow night is most likely breakfast for supper. Friday is the usual take out, and IDK about this weekend yet.

For my birthday dinner tonight, we're doing steak, sauteeing mushrooms with butter and garlic, baked potatoes and... something. Haven't decided yet on the last side. No clue on the cost, then again, I never do mention it do I?

I'm enjoying a small cup of the minestrone soup I made for this week's office dinners. it's pretty tasty.
dinner tonight later on will be a veggie loaded chicken stir fry. I have one BSCB left from the package I'd bought for chicken corn chowder over the weekend, and a ton of veggies that either need to be used or tossed before trash pickup on Wednesday. easy peasy!
