I have been pretty miserable lately, I haven't stepped on the scale because I feel huge! I feel so puffy and inflamed. I am so upset that I have let myself gain all this weight back. In the course of a little over a year I have gained almost 20 pounds. All my clothes are too small... I feel crappy. My allergies suck, my body hurts and I am miserable. I am back to seeing my chiropractor weekly. We are swamped at work and I have been putting so more overtime, so that just makes it all worse. January was the cloudiest jan. On record for chicago... it has been so freaking depressing. Really fighting the S.A.D. plus the state of the world in general... I am seriously losing my sanity.
But! I am heading to texas on Friday for a few days to visit family. Hoping for sunshine and 70s. That will help!
I have to get out of funk... I just have to!

sarcasticgirl Sorry about your funk. I have been in a funk for several months. I am finally feeling like I am coming out of the funk. For the last week I have really been forcing myself to get in 10000 steps. I am rally not feeling it today. I am only at 2800 for the day. Need to get in steps. Hope your trip to Texas is what you need to get out of the funk.

My weight isn't budging. Not necessarily a bad thing as it's not going up either. Fitness challenge is going on at work. I'm just doing my thing and logging my daily runs, not bothering with adding steps as well. That will give me more than enough points for the month.
It's amusing watching the others participate. One person says she's getting over 30K steps per day. Not possible. She doesn't even bother standing up and walking 4 feet to the printer, she rolls over to it in her office chair!

Checking in:
Gym twice (pathetic, I know), but I did take a couple good walks since the weather was really nice. only managed 140 flights of stairs since I had Friday off weight 103.2
I'm quitting the low carb challenge. I'm not building muscle fast enough to keep the weight steady. I am happy though that I'm starting to see more definition in my arms and shoulders and maybe a hint of more muscle in my legs. As much as I've enjoyed eating bacon seven days a week , that's enough.

Lizard Queen, butterfly is not a simple stroke; don't feel guilty about not learning it.
plugginaway22, congratulations!
sarcasticgirl, I take a Vitamin D pill to combat the lack of sunshine in the winter months. It seems to help.
msventoux, what a crock about the 30,000 steps!

From my January 1 weight, I want to lose 14 pounds. From my January 1 weight to my February 1 weight, I am up two pounds. My only consolation is that at a few points in January my weight was up four pounds.

sarcasticgirl , I take a Vitamin D pill to combat the lack of sunshine in the winter months. It seems to help.
I have 50,000 iu supplements from my dr. I was deficient for so long and it took 3 different supplements and almost 2 years before my D levels were up where they should be. Once I got there, I switched to only 1 pill a week. Recently, I have started taking it more often. I am so accustomed to taking it only once a week that I often forget, so I am setting a reminder to take it more. When the vitamin D is down in the dumps, EVERYTHING SUCKS! The sun is out today! and it isn't miserably cold! I got out and walked to trader Joe's this morning. Just worked for a few hours, and am ready to head back outside. I'll take the furbeast outside to play ball in the back courtyard. and I think I'll walk to my afternoon meeting in my neighborhood. BRING ON THE SUNSHINE!

They have a polar plunge fundraiser in my town every winter where they cut a hole in the ice for people to jump in. I think it may have happened yesterday. I think the temp was in the 20's maybe? My niece did it last year. I have a cousin who was planning to this year. I would never. I freeze in 70 degree weather.
My BIL has a tracker he wears for work credits. He can get 30k steps now that he discovered he can rest his arm on his knee, and bounce his leg to trigger steps. He's pretty active anyway, but yeah, he's cheating.

Well I got it done, but so annoyed at people who do not know or follow pool etiquette. Almost smashed an old dude in the face with my kickboard as he just hopped in my lane and started circle swimming without my permission or even letting me know what he was doing. (I didn't realize what he was doing and was swimming kick laps with my head down. I legit could have hurt him.) ETA: I was already cranky because there was a guy there who was actually swimming. And he was faster than me. The AUDACITY. Usually I'm the only one in the gym who can actually swim, everyone else is just farting around in the water. Messing with my self-esteem to swim next to someone better than me. Harrumph. (Yes I realize I'm a ridiculous asshole.)

Less than 1000 steps from hitting 10k today. Always an accomplishment on a weekend when I am not really out and about. Prepping salads for lunch this week. Might make a little minestrone too since I crave soup during the winter.

Love it. I have a minestrone that is my go to, a splash of balsamic added just before devouring it. I make it so often, I keep a bottle at balsamic at my desk at work.

I'm back to taking Vitamin D3 again, I think the SAD is coming in. We had so much good weather here for January that I was able to get out almost every day for getting sun. Since February has come it, it's been dull, gray and overcast most the week.

Since February has come it, it's been dull, gray and overcast most the week. It's pretty much been overcast/gray here since November. So lots of darkness and even when it's been daylight there's been precious little sunshine to see. I've been taking supplements but they haven't been keeping up with my need to see actual sunshine. My SAD light was just annoying me so I stopped using it. It was a gorgeous day today and I did manage to take a long walk in the sunshine even though it's freezing here.

Weekly check in.
Hit step goal. Weight stayed steady.
This weeks step goal will remain at 72500.
My doctor wants me to lose 30 pounds this year.
I told her my first goal was to quit gaining. Let's see if I can begin the process.
Have a fit week everyone.

I had a good weekend, exercise wise. Food wise it was so-so. Today is off to a rough start due to being up so late watching the Super Bowl last night. I hope to have enough energy after work to get some treadmill time in. I'm feeling slightly better about my schedule/routine, so I'm hoping I can stay motivated!

Yesterday was awful food wise I'm sure. This was the first week I hit 70,000 steps in some time though so I'll take that. Progress in the right direction. And besides Sunday my food's been fairly decent.

Checking in - I definitely cheated a lot over the weekend. Friday I had a delicious whipped cream and strawberry pazcki for lunch, which was probably about a million calories, Saturday I had pizza and a few too many cookies, and yesterday we went out to breakfast but I got a veggie omelet to be good, then had a big snack of popcorn/goldfish at night when I was hungry. I definitely reigned myself in even though I was cheating... weighed myself this morning and I was 1lb down from last week, so back to the strict good diet this week and hopefully I'll stay on the right track!
Going to the gym to go on the treadmill after work before my rehearsal tonight.. might just do a brisk walk, if I'm feeling energetic I'll try a pathetic jog lol.

Well, I just signed up for Master's swim. I feel like I'm at a standstill with swimming - I'm going to need some coaching to help me get to the next level. Masters should help. It's an hour and a half on saturday mornings, we will see how it goes. I'm not a group activity person, so just the thing makes me nervous.

So I have completely sucked at exercise but two tiny victories today: I'm under both calories and sugar goal with my food tracking AND I can finally spin the angry ankle in a full circle.

Took a brisk/inclined 2 mile walk yesterday at the gym, and added in a few 2-minute jog intervals. Holy fuck. I acutely felt all the extra weight - in my stomach/middle and my legs/hips, like bouncing as I ran. I was a little sore pretty immediately after. I was talking with a coworker and I think I'm going to do the couch to 5k program, to get me back in shape for running. They work you up slowly with short intervals that gradually increase I guess, which is what I need. I got 10k steps in yesterday! The fitbit had a little party on my wrist.

Is that part of WW, or is that something you guys are doing at work? I've thought about doing it but never knew where to start.

They have an app. I have it on my phone. I used it before. I should get back to it but I have to work on my leg muscles first or I'll have the same knee issues that took me away from running in the first place.

My coworker said it's an app, c25k or something, she said she thinks it's free too! You can find the plans online written out I'm sure, it would just allow me to be lazy if I had an app directing me when to run/when to walk.

I liked the app told you when to do what and it marked it off as you did each day in the program.

Sweet! I think I could probably do some running as I have gotten stamina built up, but it would be kinda struggly at first. I'm going to look for it.
