I am not ready for a fall finale! I don't have cable and didn't know one was coming. I don't want to go several weeks without this show

Anybody watch the fall finale last night?
I thought it was good. My DH, who doesn't watch the show, looked up from playing on his phone and goes "What show is this? It's depressing."
And that was only halfway through!

And that was only halfway through! I did! Actually it was my DH who recommended the show to me. He watched it from the start (he loves TV and I don't) and I was hooked first time watching. OMG Did they kill him off?! (not mentioning who in case people peek).

... I don't know if they kill him off. It seems to go against the whole "nothing bad happens on Christmas Eve" thing that was played up the entire episode.
I wonder if Kate will be for or against gastric bypass once we see the outcome of this.
The William thing was a shocker, but he looked so happy at the end of the episode. The way the kids explained it to Randall was hilarious.

Also Randall's expression as he got it was hilarious too!

I watched it last night. It threw me for a loop because what ended up happening was not what I expected.

I am still a week behind but do know what happened this week and was really surprised. I really thought we would find out how Jack died in this episode.

This is why I typically like to binge watch stuff. I don't want to wait a month (stomps feet)! I am going to say Toby will be okay though. They absolutely can't let him die after he flew out there and gave that whole heart felt speech.

I don't know how to put the spoiler thing on from my phone.
But, has anyone watched the aftershows? They are on our cable's 'on demand' thing. Some of the actors sit around and discuss the episode. I don't find it that interesting, but I am considering something that I saw there in light of the end of the show.

I know things like that happen in real life all the time, but it bugs me.

I am guessing the opposite - and that it will send Kate into overdrive to loose weight and be healthy and live her life! I read it somewhere that the actress modified her contract or something so the weight loss would be happening on the show as well as in real life.

I don't find it that interesting, but I am considering something that I saw there in light of the end of the show. I watch this show on demand a few days later when I have time to watch and then recover from the ugly cry. I caught an interview with Sterling K Brown (Randall) online yesterday where he had a lot to say about the end of the show. I read and re-read it from all kinds of angles, and there's definitely no hints about how it will all go for that one character. but that said, I read another interview with the director that gave some insight to the "magic mushroom" storyline. they have this amazing cast of actors, but the only one that is in both timelines is Mandy Moore. Milo Ventimiglia's character is dead in the current time, and everyone else had kids/younger actors playing them. the magic mushroom thing came about when the writer's were trying to come up with ways to fulfill the wishes of the adult children - they all want to act with Milo. how can the adult kids act with Dad if Dad's dead?

BTW - I wouldn't b e surprised if we don't know the details of Dad's death any time soon. They have been seriously unspecific about it. If they don't tell us for an entire year, it wouldn't phase me. So far, we have seen absolutely zero about the big 3 as teenagers. The writers might not even be sure how / when they want to kill him off. That could even be the final season - Dad's death, and the new marriage. They have hinted at trouble in the marriage. We have a TON to learn about the situation. Giving that away now would be a huge mistake. Seriously - it will be years until we find out.

Somehow I think Jack didn't die until a "few" years ago based on what Kate said to Toby about football games.
Also, will they ever bring Manny's kids into the picture since we do know that he and his ex-wife had kids??
Oh and am I the only one who is glad that Olivia is gone?

It also took me a bit to recognize William as he looks different in real life.

There was one show with them as teenagers so we know for certain Jack doesn't pass away at least until they are almost grown. I agree, we probably won't find out for a long time.

In the 'aftershow' he had that saggy face that people who have lost a lot of weight often have, so I thought he had just lost a bunch since filming. Maybe that is just his face.

I'm guessing the kids were teenagers because when Kevin & Olivia crashed that wake the boy said he was 15 & Kevin said that's a tough age to lose your dad. So I assume he was somewhere in that neighborhood when Jack died.

So I finally caught up watching on demand, and came back to read this thread. Are you all saying Jack was on the Good Wife? Who did he play? I also can't wait for Jan 10! Edit-nevermind! I see you're talking about an actor on Gilmore Girls, which I've never watched.

I'm guessing they were between 23 and 28. That was still 8-13 years before "today".
