I am so loving this show. I'm not sure about Toby though. I can't tell if he is genuine. I love Shakespeare now too. Randall's is definitely the best story IMO. Randall is definitely the most interesting of all the characters. Is Toby the one dating Kate? If so I kind of like him...at least so far. Yes he is the one dating Kate. He seems so pushy but does seem to be doing it from a good place. But his whole pushing for sex so soon is a little off putting. I know it is supposed to indicate he finds her attractive even when she thinks she isn't but if a guy was pushing me for sex after just a few dates I'd kick his ass to the curb if I wasn't into it yet. But I guess she is into it now so no harm I guess.

I didn't find him all that pushy . He seems genuine to me. I could be completely wrong though. Perhaps there is something off about him that I am just not seeing.

This show is amazing with it's little teases & slow releases. It keeps me coming back for more like no show has done in a long time.

exactly! I don't really watch tv other than sports or having it on for background noise (cooking shows, etc). I can't tell you the last time I was so looking forward to a new show and actually tuned in to watch it. I am absolutely hooked.
I'm shocked that Mom already knew Randall's bio dad. crazy.

Randall will find out she kept it from him all these years & it will not be pretty! That might be a next season plot but you know it's coming.

I have thought about saving up episodes to binge watch because I hate seeing the show end. I want more! But I can't make myself NOT watch it every week.

LOL, I DVR it & there was conflict with other shows I was recording. I almost had a heart attack when I thought this week's episode didn't record. So much relief when I found it.

it's available on demand as well. that's what I had been doing, but I guess they moved the air time to 9pm now, so I can watch it when it airs.

two things. 1) I think I'll still watch this on demand a few days later. I'm kind of toast from work, and I am going to have to watch this one again whether I keep it live or watch it later.
2) I really like Jack as a dad. he was perfect for both Kevin and Kate at the pool.

I watched this week's episode last night. Hulu had some kind of glitch and the show cut-off about 2 minutes in and wouldn't reload. I was yelling NOOOOOO at the TV and scared the crap out of my cat. It was about 40 minutes before Hulu started working again. I was so afraid I wasn't going to be able to watch it. If I hadn't been able to watch it last night I probably would not have had time until Sunday and it would suck to wait that long .

I felt so bad for young Kate when the mean girls hurt her. She was so happy in her new bathing suit & had no body image problems.
Daddy Jack was so sweet with his kids. Great dad. And I liked that Rebecca went back to talk to the other mother about Randall. I think I like the flash backs better than the real life story line.

I was annoyed with Toby this week. I am sure you all will find it hilarious that I wasn't annoyed with him pushing for sex but was extremely annoyed with the fact he kept pushing for her to watch the game with him. Seriously, back off dude...she said she likes watching the game alone and it is "her thing."
I was actually glad to find out dad passed away because mom being with dad's best friend while he is alive - no, just no...

I just caught a spoiler in the preview window of the app, so I guess I definitely need to make time to watch this week's episode when I get home from running errands. sounds like I missed a ton....

I'm watching it now, and scrolled all the way past whatever comments have been made (I'll come back and catch up once I'm done) but can I just say that I Randall and his wife? I just bust a gut laughing at the smile on his face as he said he was going to pack. bahahaha

Just finished watching it....
So not only Jack died but also that guy's wife? And does that mean we will be seeing that guy's children?

I didn't think I could Jack anymore than I already do but this most current episode proved me wrong. I am actually kind of surprised the writers allowed us to know he passed away so soon. Maybe they realized that the entire audience was going to fall in love with him in just a few weeks they decided to soften the blow by letting us in on it early. Little Randall was so darn cute wearing that tie toward the end too! I am also interested to see how the dynamics continue to change between Kate and her mom.

One thing I really like about Toby is that he is human, with good traits and bad. Sometimes insensitive, sometimes great.
I hate when shows make a love interest a perfect soul with super human qualities. Makes me want to barf. My best example is Matthew in his last season of Downton Abbey. He was a real, likeable character, and then they turned him into this piece of perfection. Never saying the wrong thing, or having a moment of bad judgement. So stupid. I knew they were going to kill him off, because they were hyping us up to be so in love with him ( and how changed Mary was because of the magic power of his kisses) they wanted us to have maximum heartbreak. It doesn't work for me. I was so relieved when he finally died so we could get back to telling a story about 3 dimensional people. And then they did the same thing with Tom. Barf, barf, barf.

That's what I really like about This Is Us. All the characters have flaws. Even Jack, who is so darn likeable, had a drinking problem for a bit and makes mistakes along the way. All the characters are pretty normal, leading normal lives but the show has a way of making normal really interesting.

Now keep in mind I have not seen this weeks episode yet. But are we watching the same show? At the end of last weeks show Randall was in the bedroom that William was staying in packing up his stuff and crying which to me means that William died. Also I never hear anybody say that Miguel's wife had died. What am I missing?

They have not addressed where Miguel's original wife is.
Last week's packing scene was a flash forward. William as of now is still with us.
