Jack is just awesome. I wish he'd shave the stache though. hello.....late 70s. I think I remember from the first episode that the triplets are children of '78 like me. I could be wrong, though.

I thought they were born in 1980 as they were celebrating their 36th birthday in real time assuming real time is 2016. I those mustaches were still "in" based on pictures of my dad during the 80s... Granted, my dad was and is no trend setter...

totally valid, and '78 and '80 aren't really that far off either. but still - the 'stache was in back then!

I think he will look really young if he shaves his facial hair (if that's the same guy who was on Gilmore Girls)

For the last season, the main producers were no longer part of the show due to contract issues (I believe) but they are part of the Netflix revival.

I think she can do better than any of them. Logan was really a douche. Most likely but for me, he's easy on the eyes. He was but I was so glad she went out on her own and became her own person at the end. I didn't want her to end up with any of them, though I agree Logan was definitely the cutest. I just hate it when a show's main focus is having a woman with a man so I thought it ended perfectly. Not to mention the fact that she had just graduated college. She needed to focus on herself and her own career. I found Jesse to be downright annoying most of the time, even after he grew up and matured a little something about him rubbed me the wrong way. I liked the show right up until the end. I never watched it when it was on TV. I binge watched it on Netflix about a year ago.

Browsing the comments, this sounds like a new soap opera?

it's a new drama that's on at night. I think the evening time slot excludes it from being called a soap opera, no?

I would not call this a soap opera in the least.
I enjoyed last night's episode, but it also made me sad because I can relate to Rebecca. Raising kids is draining and as they get older, you think you will get back to feeling like yourself, but everything is different by then.

Yeah, not even close to being a soap opera.
I watched last night's episode this morning. I am still not so sure how I feel about Rebecca ending up with Manny, even though we know Jack is dead. I know it happens. My dad and one of mom's friends are actually living together. After mom passed he said he wanted something "familiar." He wasn't into meeting new people but didn't want to be alone. My cousin's husband died in combat and she ended up marrying his best friend. It is kind of strange but I guess it works for some people.

It sounds like a soap opera to me. Just one they've tweaked enough to disguise the fact that it's a soap opera. Clever dogs. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being "the Brady Bunch" and 10 being "morally ambiguous people coping with dysfunctional families and relationships", where would it rate?

It is about pretty normal people. Perhaps you should actually watch it if you wish to discuss the content of the show.

More specifically, I'm trying to figure out if my wife would want to. Don't worry. I'll look up some of the episode summaries on Wiki when I have time.

Not my cup of tea, but I'm also kind of an action/mystery junky.

Prime time dramas use all the same tricks as soap operas, but they only have to fill a very small fraction of air time, so they do it better. They don't have to cycle through the stories as quickly so you don't notice how ridiculous these people's lives are. I generally don't notice the manipulation until the third season or so.

next week's "fall finale" is going to suck. I predict this is when we find out how Jack dies. the teaser I just saw showed young Rebecca saying to the kids "nothing bad ever happens on Christmas Eve!"
ugh....I need to just buy stock in Kleenex.

My first thought was this is when William dies, not Jack. It is definitely going to be I'm sure. But I am LOVING this show though!

ooh, right. he hasn't been doing well, and we've already seen Randall packing up his stuff. actually, now that I think about it, we have seen more 70s Jack and the kids with football in teasers, that I don't remember seeing in episodes. so that still has to come up.

They also showed the doctor that delivered the triplets in a hospital bed too so it could be something with that too.
