... Pence would go with the Evangelicals, but Trump has them already. Gingrich could help do something about that.

Calls for Christie to resign......yep. And he was headed for an indictment and jail too. Never happened. I am not even sure if NJ is a swing state. Is it?

Anyone think Trump will blindside everyone with a different pick than the media has right now? Other than Palin, of course!

Gingrich has the inside track. Probably. I prefer Christie to wrap up New Jersey this fall. What state will Gingrich swing to Trump's favor? the last i heard, Christie was deeply unpopular in NJ. i am not sure what Gingrich brings to the electoral table. NC maybe?

Palin? That would be hysterical! You betcha! I can't think of anybody who fawned harder than Ms. Palin. She was so excited to endorse him she couldn't even construct a coherent sentence. Now you tell me: what kind of people does Mr. Trump like to have around him? I've noticed in the last few months that Trump's highest praise for someone is 'he thinks I'm terrific.'

Trump always uses public opinion to craft his positions and opinions. He's been trotting out the VP candidates publically so that he can see who garners the most excitement and approval. That's the person he'll pick as VP - not the person he thinks is most qualified for the job, the person he thinks his base voters like the most.
He won't run the risk of springing a dark horse on the public.

I like Newt. Always have. He is the single smartest human being in politics today. If the GOP had nominated him, he would have humiliated Obama in a landslide. The problem is that you've got two elderly folks running-- and I'm sorry, but the VP need to have a healthy, active, vibrant 12 years left. Sad, but true. Pence is so plain vanilla it hurts. I don't think he helps Trump- but he'll probably be the pick. The Trump kids like him-- or so I hear. Ann Coulter thinks his VP pick will be his first mistake: www.anncoulter.com/columns/2016-07-06.html

The beauty of Newt & Trump is that this is a national campaign, not an electoral one-- much like Reagan ran. And no, I'm not comparing Trump to Reagan. I am simply pointing out that the Rove tactic of surrendering 200 electoral votes up front and then trying to run the table with what's left- or lose- is not the Trump strategy. Nobody understands that better than Newt.
Theoretically, House races are local- but if you'd ever actually studied the Republican Revolution of 1994, you'd know that Newt nationalized House races with The Contract With America. It was a brilliant strategy-- and one the Democrats are still trying to adapt to, and still contending with to this day. With Newt, I could see a Trump campaign that comes into Chicago and asks: "Haven't you had enough already?".
Trump's is a bold campaign, a national campaign, and a campaign of big ideas and sharp contrasts. He ought to have someone with the intellectual firepower of Newt to run with. Newt is probably the only candidate that can successfully make the case against Hillary and prosecute it while simultaneously making the case FOR Trump and his proposals (most of which- like the wall, and banning muslims from war zones who may pose a threat- are already law).
No doubt Team Trump- the advisers selected to help him run as a more buttoned-down, disciplined, and "safe" candidate- want Pence. We'll see what Mr. Trump does. I'm hoping he stays bold.

Tax breaks will likely be the same as they are now. He'll tweak marginal tax rates- that's about it.

If he does straw poll results, it will be Sessions or Newt. That's pretty much the final two in terms of Trump's base of support.
