I always shop for myself during the holiday season. Neither DH nor my kids nor I do gifts to adults any longer. But prices are good, and I usually have a few extra $$$ left over from the $1200 Christmas Club account.
This year I bought: - programmable crock pot with a smaller dip size crock pot from Costco ($29.99) I donated the fifteen-year-old dented one that my ex-bf bought and left to the thrift store.
- Shark vacuum again from Costco ($159.99, I think)
- dvd "Sleeping with the Enemy" for $4.50 from Target (free shipping). I like owning stuff since I will watch it again in a few years. My little quirk.
- $49.02 worth of items in Winterberrry, my Pfaltzgraff pattern, on Cyber Monday. $49 got me free shipping. But I didn't buy a single thing looking at the total. Impressive, huh?
- $10 on Ebay (new with tags/no shipping) for the Vera Bradley lanyard that matches my laptop tote and my everyday tote.
I think I've shown real restraint actually, but it is fun shopping for some stuff that I want. I am really restrained most of the year so I feel like I'm the original Big Spender here.
I love, love, love the Shark vacuum, by the way. I had a fifteen-year-old Kenmore that I spent a lot of money for that just wasn't picking up any more. I could perhaps have found a servicer, but I didn't want to. I wanted something shiny and new.
Tell me where to turn in my YM card. Right after you tell me what you bought and get in line with me.

I'm in line with you. I bought 2 pocketbooks and a pair of New Balance sneakers. I needed all of them, and I got great prices!

Nothing yet. I spent a few hundred on vet bills for my old dog on Black Friday, if that counts. I do have my eye on a couple of fountain pens and inks, but I'm resisting because I have far too much as it is. I've also been pondering getting a new leather tote bag, but haven't found one I completely like yet.

Boat parts.
Since so many of you crazy folk live up where it gets cold in the winter, for much of the country there's a boating "season". Since boating season is now over, most of the boating parts and supplies are deeply discounted right now. I keep a running list of parts and gear I'd like to replace or upgrade and during December - February as things go on deep sale or clearance I get that stuff. Just got $600 worth of ratchet blocks, lines and clothes that would have cost over twice that a few months ago.
Works for me especially well since our boating season has really just gotten into full swing down here. It's still in the 70s or 80s and the wind is great.

In the past few weeks, I've bought 2 Ethan Allen couches, 2 Ethan Allen side tables, a Frigidaire "milk" fridge, an Ethan Allen dining room set, an Ethan Allen club chair, and two pairs of jeans. It was all purchased to replace some of the items ruined by the tree. The furniture and fridge were purchased used from the estate of a wife/mother/grandmother who kept a spotless home and who bought quality furnishings and kept them in like-new condition. The jeans are from Talbot's and new. I'm not counting any of those as gifts to myself. Hell, no!

2 pair of shoes and a new coat. I'm not sure about keeping both pair though.

I got a new blazer in from Etsy. I have been looking everywhere for a pink blazer and been really unhappy with what is available in stores. I love my navy blue 1940's blazer so I went in search of a similar one only in pink. To my surprise one popped up and happened to be 50% off on Cyber Monday.

Spent $25 on some stuff at 50% off from Old Navy the other day... gonna need some more new clothes coming up but that's probably all I'll be getting myself anytime soon, and as much of that as possible will be from consignment stores.

Nothing but food so far.
We came close to buying a new fridge for the cabin last week but DH didn't trust that Lowes would actually deliver tomorrow as promised. They only deliver up here 2x per week and we leave Sat to return to the Bay Area.
Looks like we will be buying the N. San Diego County house a new water heater and dish washer. But those can wait until the President's Day sales.

I've been buying a lot of stuff for the condo and maternity(ish) clothes. I feel more guilty that I haven't bought stuff specifically for the baby than I do about not getting x-mas gifts.

Amazon fire stick, drapes for the family room, and drapery rod. I have spent my decorating budget for the month. The family room will never be done.

I’m very careful with my jewelry but occasionally I lose an item. Last week I lost a long gold chain which, unfortunately, had a beautiful Byzantine cross set with a couple of rubies, an emerald and a sapphire. I’d seen it in a jewelry store window in Athens and loved it. So, the cross is pretty much irreplaceable; what makes some of these pieces special to me is where I bought them. It cost about $350, but sentimentally it was worth more than that. Buying a replacement on e-Bay just won’t do it.
So- on our trip to Myrtle Beach I’ll head to Dick’s Pawn Shop to buy a replacement chain since I have plenty of other pendants and want to replace the chain. Good timing; the price of gold is pretty low right now.

New "Tupperware" for the kitchen. Got rid of all the old mis-matched Ziploc crap & got some nicer matching plastic containers. Not officially Tupperware brand, but you know what I mean. Nicer containers than the cheap Ziploc stuff that stains & cracks.

We bought ourselves new Amazon tablets as our current ones are on their last legs. Some assorted clothes that I "needed" . I'm really trying to cut back on my spending right now so that I can spend some when I see my mom a couple times later this month.

I can't even think of anything I want. Well, that's not totally true. I want a puppy.
I will not be getting myself a puppy.

I bought myself a new purse! I am a YM sinner. In my defense it was only $25 and my old one was getting really ratty looking. DH bought himself a Channel Master which is like a DVR. Now we can record two shows at once. minnesotapaintlady I would love a used dog (no puppies for me thanks) but DH is allergic.

Well, I impulse bought 2 space heaters, b/c they were steeply discounted at home depot. One was for my DH's office and the other I intended for my own office or for my office at home. It is a very nice space heater, but too big for my use, so one will be returned. (On-line purchase).
I also bought a shark with an old fashioned cord. I did not do as well as bamafan, I think I paid $179. I also purchased a cordless dyson DC6 from Kohls for 249 and got $75 in Kohl's cash. I think I will return that one and keep the shark, b/c I don't trust the cordless battery to stay charged long enough for me to pick up the mess my 1 year old dog makes shredding stuff every day.
I got a long sweater for $17 and a low turtleneck for $12.99 at Boston Store, and I did buy a new Calvin Klein Jacket for about $100 and a new Cashmink Scarf for $17.99. I also bought a few things for myself from Black House White Market. Pants and shirts and a jacket. I ordered a winter white jacket that I really like then I ordered the pants, the color is slightly off but they told me that that is the same collection and meant to go together. DD hates color on color and I think I agree with her that I don't like that much white. Pants are going back and I have to decide if I want to keep the jacket and wear with black pants. I also have the pants in a black cherry color in a reglar size and a size larger that I normally wear in petite. The petite ones need a few nips in the waist to make them fit me, and they don't have belt loops. I will keep one pair, both need a little alteration, I just have to decide which look better.
I actually did a lot of shopping so my house is stuffed to the gills with gifts. AE had 40% off. Eddie Bauer had 50% off on BF.
Oh, and I didn't add this b/c it really wasn't on sale and it is not for us. DH is redoing the plumbing in our rental property. Unit is vacant while he works on it. He is knocking out the whole bathroom and replacing the pipes. We bought a shower stall and surround to replace the tub, new shower fixture, new toilet, pipes and lumber and (two new faucets for our own house so about $300 is for us) and spent over $2,000. DH still has to buy a sink base/sink and prolly drywall+labor.

And yet, part of me still wants to bring her home....

Since September I've bought: a Thermapen - on sale it's totally AWESOME! - I've recycled the 4 traditional meat thermometers I had (and that I HATE). I wanted it so I could use it for the odds and ends of "holiday" type cooking I'd be doing from October thru January. So far, it's been worth every penny. a 23andme Kit - going to send it in this week. Not sure really why I'm bothering... there's so much obvious 'family resemblance" between the 15 or so remaining relatives (and obvious from photos of the Dead Relatives) that I'm not expecting any sort of "surprise". and we've got a pretty good idea of where all my grandparents all came from in the late 1890's... and judging from the prevalence of "last names" in the "old country" and the era/centuries they lived there's probably not going to be much surprise of what my long time ago roots are... but still, it's a curiousity/entertainment kind of thing. Don't have anything else on the radar for upcoming purchases - unless I come across an America's Test Kitchen approved large roasting pan at a reasonable price - the 18 pound plus Christmas Turkey is a challenge to handle in the 2000 year old not so good roasting pan I use. Although it is tradition for one of the men folk to pull the Turkey out of the oven while the rest of the family holds their breathe hoping the Turkey WON"T hit the floor and that no one gets hurt. We usually have a pre-assigned 'first aide' team and someone with a phone to dial 911... (I imaging the burns from the splattering liquid in the pan will require some care - maybe even professional).

eeeeks. I just realized I'm spending like a drunk sailor on myself this season. So far I bought a French door fridge, a laptop, a sweater and a couple items of workout clothes. And a new car battery, but that wasn't exactly a "want". What's worrisome is I don't feel done yet. wheeeeeeee!!!!

A pair of boots, a pair of shoes, a raincoat, some loungewear and pj's, and stuff for my new hobby. I think that's it for the last couple of weeks. I usually "binge" a little this time of year. My birthday is in December and with the holiday sales, I buy stuff and think "this is my birthday present to me". But then I keep finding "birthday presents" to buy.

You are evil. We are not home enough for a dog, let alone a puppy, but I sure miss having a dog. Someone had a litter of 14 Lab/Shepherd cross puppies on Facebook for sale and my first thought was to be pissed off, because it appeared to be an intentional cross. Then I was like "oooooh I want one of those little buggers" LOL It's a really bad time of the year to do puppy. Maybe next Summer I'll get one for the kid's birthday's.

There will be a good time. I just love animals so much I'm always encouraging everyone to get one - or more! It's mostly because I want another dog but I already have a Lab and 3 cats, so adding another critter would be less than ideal. But I want one! My dog needs a buddy.

I am thinking of getting older son a kitten for Christmas, but not sure. He ADORES cats and is stressing out about ours dying someday (cat is 16). I'm not sure if he'd do well with another adult cat though (our cat, not my son!)

I started a little before black Friday but I've got a few things. 5 pairs of pants for work, 4 pairs of boots, a new purse, books, car cell phone charger, pajama pants, sweater, under armour hoodie, case for my flat iron, a DVD, and 4 new bathing suits.
I leave for Punta Cana Saturday and I still have hand sized bruises on my stomach from surgery last week. So no way in hell am I wearing a bikini.
