LOL. I am evil - but not because of this! If you and the dog could both be happy, I say absolutely go for it. All dogs should have happy homes. But if it doesn't work for you right now, then don't. There will be a good time. I just love animals so much I'm always encouraging everyone to get one - or more! It's mostly because I want another dog but I already have a Lab and 3 cats, so adding another critter would be less than ideal. But I want one! My dog needs a buddy.
I am thinking of getting older son a kitten for Christmas, but not sure. He ADORES cats and is stressing out about ours dying someday (cat is 16). I'm not sure if he'd do well with another adult cat though (our cat, not my son!) Kittens are equally adorable and amazing. Take 2, they're small!!!!

It's still in the 70s or 80s and the wind is great. I have never liked you.

I started a little before black Friday but I've got a few things. 5 pairs of pants for work, 4 pairs of boots, a new purse, books, car cell phone charger, pajama pants, sweater, under armour hoodie, case for my flat iron, a DVD, and 4 new bathing suits. I leave for Punta Cana Saturday and I still have hand sized bruises on my stomach from surgery last week. So no way in hell am I wearing a bikini. Sorry about the surgery but glad to hear it isn't slowing you down. I say go with the bikini and give the other resort guests something to talk about.

But kittens are cute

I am a long way from retirement. My brother says I just need a husband who works midnight shift. Pretty sure doggie daycare would be cheaper!!!
And on the spending train while not a gift to me I just ordered tires and my bank account will be $760 poorer.

Kitties! DH and I both have wicked kitten/cat fever... however we decided we'll wait until our cat has settled into both the baby and a new place to live before thinking about getting her a friend. I do think she'll miss my mom's cat though, so we'll probably get one eventually. Kittens are such a pain in the ass but so damn cute!!

Our neighbors just went to the shelter and got an older dog. He's probably 8 and so sweet! Already house broken too. Maybe I could deal with that better than a puppy I am still working on house-training the kids, so I would need a dog that could set a good example for them

Let's see, We were back east in early November (all the way to eastern South Dakota) I got myself some of my favorite cheeses from a dairy in Dimock SD. It's to die for! I've picked up some wine for Christmas and New Year. I got myself a cold (not really, that was a gift from the Grandkids) Did you know colds are not returnable even if you have a receipt? It doesn't work to wrap them up and try to give them to someone else either.....I found a couple DVD's that have been unavailable for years. We have some popcorn. If I get an open moment during the season between Christmas and New Year...I'm good to go!!

I bought a couple of B & D cordless screwdrivers for gifts, on black Friday. I also bought one for me. Yay! Get a puppy! Get a kitten! Get both, they're small and can keep each other company.

We just got back from the Dominican Republic last night, so I guess that was our gift to ourselves! But, this trip was booked back in May as sort of a "reward" for hitting our marathon/triathlon goals for the year. So that means I have to go to DSW today and buy some boots!

I bought some cold weather running gear. But it was with some birthday money my Grandma and Great Aunt gave me, so I don't think it counts.

I got myself some new running gear (socks, tights and gloves) when I got DH a tech shirt he wanted from the local Under Armour store. It was a good sale on everything. And it does get cold enough here to wear the tights and gloves; neither is a thick, heavy weight item. I will get running shoes for myself, but I usually wait until February, when the new models come in. And I learned a new term this season: boomerang gift. It's when you buy a gift for someone, but it's really for the recipient and the giver. I'd never heard of this term. Turns out DH and I each bought the other a boomerang gift this year - I got him a wet-dry vac (which helps me keep the house/patio/garage clean) and he bought me a new kitchen faucet (which ensures he will be getting his meals prepared).

But kittens are cute Yup, we have a 15-year-old cat and a 4-year-old cat. I'm definitely happy we rescued the little one, but it took some work to get them used to each other (the old lady was an only cat most of her life) and they have to eat separate because of different dietary needs. No more filling a bowl of food and water and going away for a weekend. Now we have a cat sitter to supervise their eating.

I ordered a couple books off Amazon along with DH's birthday gift. I paid with the gift card I got for a present last Christmas. DS1 is suddenly outgrowing all his clothes. Now, whenever I get him something new that fits, it feels like a gift to myself. (He's only 5 and still wants me to pick out all of his outfits for the day.) ETA: I also got myself a student planner for $1.19 on clearance. Now I can schedule 2016 appointments and not carry around 2 calendars for a month. *cheap date*
