OMG you guys and your stories of pets, tearing out walls and lifting car engines!
We will have Nikki reminders for a looooong time. Besides all that fine cat hair all over the house, about six months ago on one of his trips back from vet he let go a full bladder on my backseat. Poor guy had been holding it during an hour long vet visit but could hold it no longer. I've tried soaking it with Nature's Miracle and other enzyme cleaners but to no avail.
My 4 Runner is now known as the Pissmobile.
Ugg. Have you priced out getting the seat replaced? Or at least reupholstered?

On the cats and food topic... I adopted the Smooch from a woman in the office - sight unseen. She said she just wasn't home enough to take care of him. When she was dropping him off, I asked again about what kind of cat food he ate... and she was evasive but she did say that he seemed to have gastrointestinal issues. Um. OK. She gave me all his stuff - crate, beds, bowls, brushes, and $20 dollars. Yep, I was PAID to take the cat. I figured I'm an experienced cat 'slave' how bad could it be? It's a good thing the cat was cute. I discover that Smooch probably has NEVER eaten cat food in his two years of life - he's all about people food - he knows and loves the sound of the plastic containers that take out food comes in - he's all about Pizza, Chinese, Italian Beefs, Hotdogs (LOVED the sport peppers!), he'd even eat breakfast cereal. This is the cause of gastro-intestinal issues. Also, in my house - my cats don't help themselves to what's on my plate. They don't really even get 'people food' - unless it's a bit of chicken, Tuna Juice, or a bit of scrambled egg and cheese. Smooch routinely DIVES for my plate anytime he sees me with food. It's annoying - I keep removing him from the table, he gets put in time out in the bathroom, I try making big scary noises (pennies in a can) when he attacks my plate. Nothing works. Finally, after several months, The Queen of All She Surveys (the Alpha Female) has had enough of this food drama. Out of the blue before I sit down to dinner - she positions herself on the chair next to mine at the table. And waits. My plate hits the table, Smooch jumps up on to the table and makes a bee line for the plate, before I can scold/chase/remove him, The Queen of All She Surveys springs up (without getting on the table), smashes her Iron Paw into the top of Smooch's head and POUNDS him so hard I hear his chin hit the table top. The Queen then returns to her seat, composed as if nothing has happened. Smooch is seeing stars (or maybe those little birds I'm not sure). He takes a moment to recover - and then backs off the table like he's seen Satan himself. He NEVER jumped up on the table or attacked my plate after that. After that I was able to strictly enforce his cat food diet... except when my brother visited and brought home Italian Beef. (My brother would bring Smooch his own 'extra bit' of beef and peppers on the side.) We all pretty much did whatever The Queen wanted. It's just safer that way. Then there was the time I was was painting the kitchen - and when I popped open the can of paint - as soon as the lid hit the tarp - Smooch had tongue out and was licking that yummy paint off the lid... There's me. In Horror. My cat trying to figure out what the Hell just happened! That's not FOOD! OMG! As he started drooling, kinda horking, and smacking and started thinking maybe he should hide. I grab him and head for the sink - turn on the faucet, pry his mouth open and get it under the running water. There's 8 pounds of cat (with 8 pounds of long silky fur) whirlwinding like crazy to escape the water and the horribleness in his mouth - kinda howling kinda screaming AND me going "OMG! Don't Die! Don't Die!" It was not pretty but we both survived him eating paint. I loved that cat.

No stories right this moment, but I did want to say that I am very sorry about your cat, Bonny. And to say that it sounds like you did a great job taking care of him and giving him a good life.

My old Siamese, Charlie, adored cantaloupe. He'd fight Godzilla for cantaloupe rights - and, he'd have won! He also liked blueberries. If I had blueberry yogurt, Charlie would pick out the blueberries. He'd also eat them off my cereal! At one time, Charlie had a companion cat, a Somali named Skeeter (Skeeter was a nervous little thing. We rehomed him in Saudi Arabia rather than put him through transport back to the States. He found a home with a lovely young girl. They adored one another.) Charlie and Skeeter would share an order of succotash if we had it. Skeeter ate the lima beans and Charlie ate the corn. The three I have now are the first normal eaters I've had. They will only eat Royal Canin, though. They'll eat both the wet and dry foods, but only that brand. No others will do.

If you haven't tried it yet get Bissel Peeeww, it's a black bottle with a yellow label and a picture of a golden retriever. That stuff WORKS.
Simply Green Pet Odor works really well too.

I am so sorry, my dear online friend. I too have loved and lost and don't regret a minute of the glorious memories of all the furbabies who've shared my home over the years.
Thank you for giving everyone the opportunity to share so many wonderful stories of love and laughter.

One of my cats is 19, and I think her kidneys are starting to go - so I know where you are coming from. I am going to lose her - likely soon. We have had her since she was 4 weeks old. Someone found the litter of 5 pure white cats. The lady who sat near me at work was the foster to get them healthy enough for adoption. All 5 of them were adopted by people at work - like all right in our little area - didn't even have to go to the other side of the building.
After 19 years together, this cat has got my number. The other day I was combing out her hair because she is matting. She hates when I do it, so she wiggled away. When she was a kitten and I was messing with her, she would run and go into another room and find something to hide under (normal kitten behavior.) But now, my old gal, she knows that I am so lazy all she needed to do was sit one inch away from as far as my arm would reach and I wouldn't even lean over to grab her. So, there we sat on the couch - her about 2 feet away from me, and me just looking at her. She looked back. I swear to god she smiled and stuck out her tongue.

I'm so sorry about your loss of your furbaby. They are family.
My 19 yr old kitty that we lost a couple of years ago was with me during the time when DH#1 passed. She grieved with me and protected me and the house from all intruders, including the kitty in the mirror.
We now have another kitty that was a 4 yr old rescue and he is a love. A flat-faced Persian that is a very picky eater. He doesn't like people food at all and will only eat fancy feast with gravy. And no salmon. That's funny....Sushi will eat anything and everything EXCEPT Fancy Feast with Gravy.

So sorry about Nikki, Bonny. It does suck.
There are so many funny cat stories and I am so glad mine aren't the only dipshits. We took my big boy to the vet's yesterday. He's been throwing up a lot and lost more weight, that's his thyroid issue though. While we were waiting for blood work results, he started screaming and we thought he was going to throw up, as that's what he does. Nope. I looked under DH's chair and Zeus was squatting just so. He took a delightfully aromatic crap right on the floor there. -sick-The tech came in and I thought she was going to throw up. I don't know what it is with him but he has the smelliest poops. Cleared out the room and they had to bring in a candle to kill it.
My cats don't eat melon, that I know of, but they will eat corn on the cob. My big boy LOVES it. Gave him his very own ear the other day and he was thrilled. Just have to make sure he doesn't eat the cob itself. Apparently it's poisonous.

Another cat story .
Our home has 2500 sq ft.
500 of that is tile, all the rest is hardwood with maybe 200 sq ft of area rugs here and there.
Ok, so yea - we have maybe 1.5 sq ft of shoes laying around.
I get a text from DH this morning "all hardwood floors and the cat has to throw up in my work shoe!!!"

Question about cats with weird eating habits. Does anybody else have a cat that eats butter?!? please say yes. I have now had/have 2 cats that will jump on the counter, knock the top off the butter dish and eat/lick the damn stick. If it helped with their hairballs I wouldn't mind so much but no such luck. Why?!

LOL! I feel his pain! My cats have always preferred the fringe on Persian rugs; however, a shoe was inevitably second choice.

My aunt had a Great Dane who was a butter fiend, he would actually open the fridge to get at it.

Two out of three of our cats lick soap scum after I shower. Lucy does this. She also licks water out of the soap dish in between showers. I had a black cat named Maggie when I had Benjamin. I was painting my bedroom a light blue color. You know what is coming next. Yep, I turned around and Maggie was sitting in the paint pan. I made the mistake of yelling at her and she swished her tail from side to side, getting paint on everything.
