Yes some are saying they will vote for Clinton, but those who do get flak. If possible politically, I think the right tack is what H.W. Bush is doing. Stay out of it and say nothing.

Trump is insane. That's all I can think of when he goes lower with his comments. All he needed to say was "Thank you for your service." He should have said the same thing to the Gold Star family instead of insulting them. As a veteran I am appalled at his actions.

The more Trump talks the more I keep thinking we must have slipped into some alternate universe or something. It is almost like he wants to demonstrate how stupid his followers are. It's like he is saying to himself "lets see how outrageous I can get before these fools abandon me." I mean, he is who he is...but the fact that people have actually chosen this nut job to represent the party is completely baffling. I just don't get it...I will never get it...

A clear majority of Americans share Trump's opinions on the state of the union. A tiny minority of people think we're headed in the right direction / right track. A majority believe that Trump is the candidate most likely to affect change. They're just waiting to pull the lever in November and be counted. You may not wish to believe all this, but the data are there.

I need to check the house next door. They had a big old Trump sign up on their porch but they also have a POW-MIA flag and a Stars and Stripes flying 24 hours (with a spotlight). I would be curious to see if he still supports him after this. He is a vet himself.
I just can't fathom it myself.

You may not wish to believe all this, but the data are there. I think you are wrong. I believe there are many intelligent Americans who, although they want change, see Trump is totally unqualified and is a threat to our country. Unlike the people who follow Trump's nasty campaign and seem to become more like him, the calm society is waiting to be heard in the polls.

Frustration in the Trump camp, with Trump ........ Trump's behavior frustrates his backers and aides..... CNN by Dana Bash, Jim Acosta & Theodore Schleifer Donald Trump aides and people close to his campaign are increasingly frustrated by his insistence on waging various fights that steer him off message. The problem is even as nutty as Trump he's more sane that the rest of the candidates were. Now that we've moved into "The General Election"... it's a question of Nutty Trump, or Crooked Hillary. Both of which are HORRENDOUS choices. If there is life after death... I can don't even want to imagine the conversation going on amongst the Founding Fathers...

The thing that got me about this was how he phrased his comments about them.
About Paul Ryan, for example - Ryan didn't immediately come out with support for Trump, when Trump became the GOP front runner. Ryan said something like 'I'm not there yet' when questioned by the media about whether he supported Trump.
Now Trump, in a tit for tat, is using the exact same words about Ryan.
The only thing that seems to matter to Trump is retaliation. Like a third grader who calls you a poopy head, and you have to call him a poopy head back.
Retaliation and winning - those seem to be the two driving forces behind Trump. Even when someone with even a modicum of political savvy would know that keeping your mouth shut and taking the higher ground is the best thing for Trump's campaign, and for the GOP as a whole, Trump must retaliate.

No, Trump has to hit back harder, so he would call you a super-poopy head. And yes, that is just about the level of discourse he is comfortable with.

Kasich IMHO was the sane one of the bunch but couldn't get anywhere. While I don't agree with all of his policies, he at least seems to be a halfway logical person. The fact that Cruz and Trump were the front runners demonstrates to me just how crazy the party has actually become. I do agree with you that as nutty as Trump is I would take him over Cruz. While I am not crazy over Hilary, she seems like the best and most logical choice to me. Kasich could have given her a run for her money but he obviously was way too normal.

Kansas just replaced hard right conservatives with moderates... A step back to sanity? From what I have read, the far right conservatives pretty much killed the Kansas economy with their insane tax cuts.

I hope to find an article on Trump I thought was especially insightful regarding how his mind works. I accidently closed the window and haven't found it again yet. I did find something not as good, but summarizes well.
talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/understanding-the-trump-khan-war
As I've noted in so many contexts, the need to assert dominance is at the root of all of Trump's actions. His whole way of understanding the world is one made up of dominators and the dominated. There's no infinite grey middle ground, where most of us live the vast majority of our human relationships. Trump simply had no choice but to lash out, to rebalance the equation of dominance in his favor.
I really like the other article because it explains how he became this way over time due to exchanges with his father, etc.

You will fall for anything the fraudulent media puts out. I think you probably know the truth intuitively, don't you? It was a JOKE.
