My husband is reluctant to commit to us NOT homeschooling, even though I'd be the one doing most of it. I am quite sure that we will be supplementing our son's education at home, maybe to a high degree. I'm just antisocial/socially anxious enough that I really want him to have a structured environment to interact with other people, because I don't want to make him a hermit like me. I'm content at this point to leave options open and say we'll work with what fits in our lives. Also, I bought Ghirardelli brownie mix and Talenti chocolate brownie gelato, so I think I'm set on chocolate. And, YAY, 10! yummmmm.......Talenti! I love the vanilla bean, topped with strawberries and slivered almonds. <drool> I think I know what I'm having for dinner now lol..... sent from my electronic distraction I avoid Gelato because of the dairy. Talenti has been on sale here, nice price too - under $3.

I at a small container... Ok it wasn't that small, of cashew milk snicker doodle ice cream... Awesome! No gluten, no dairy, no coconut no soy... I'm glad they don't carry it close and it costs 5$ for the 2 cup container! I think that's a bargain oped. I've noticed in my area of CNJ that there is a disturbing trend to regular price the new interesting non dairy desserts around $7, $6.99 to be exact. Who the heck are these people who buy this?
I have been trying some new stuff from DF Mavens, or something like that. I have a feeling I missed the last chance to get it at the non $6.99 price for awhile. Whole Foods already dropped their sale price of 2 for $7 and Kings had it for the not so desireable price of $4.99. But they are so good. I really hope I do not buy one in August at $6.99, just because I am craving it. I have never had Amy's or other non dairy frozen desserts that do not go on sale. (Amy's seems to win lots of taste tests too. )
What was the brand?
It did have a yellow 'on sale' sticker. I'd pay 8$ for another container ... A lot of the flavor a have coconut, but the snicker doodle did not and OMG...

Oooh, I didn't know SO Delicious was getting into other nut milk frozen dairy desserts. I've had their soy and almond milk products, but not the coconut. Here's a link to the brand I got to taste test at a Whole Foods. www.dfmavens.com/
Looks like the web-site is undergoing changes. DF Mavens has flavors with almond milk, coconut, and something else. One of the actual flavors has more pistachio in it than almond milk.
Cashew milk snickerdoodle. I might like that.

Darn you Wisconsin Beth! Now I want tacos. But for us to have tacos, I would have to be the one to make tacos... Here's my taco discovery that has made the preparation of tacos much easier.
One day I looked in my cupboard and discovered a package of crispy taco shells that needed to be eaten. I had tomatoes and cheese. So far so good. I had ground beef, but it was frozen in a big block. Then I noticed I also had a can of chili. Light bulb moment!
Now I make tacos with chili instead of cooking ground beef with taco seasoning. As long as I have tomatoes and cheese and taco shells or tortillas, I can have tacos! Unless I want fish tacos. Fish tacos really need to be made with fish.
Of course, for those who turn up their noses at anything in a can, this is not useful information. I offer it, nevertheless, for any normal people who might want tacos without a lot of effort.
My DH usually picks up our weekly ground meat on Tuesdays. So we usually do tacos on Tues or Wed. nights. But this week has been off for us and the meat was still in the fridge. With fresh/thawed meat, I find tacos are really easy to make, less than 20 minutes and not something I need to hover over. Plus the kids will scarf them down. I start quinoa (for a variation of spanish rice), cut up veggies, put meat on, stick shells in oven and pull out the shredded cheese and the sour cream/greek yogurt.

Today I made pork-turkey meatballs in the crock pot with spaghetti sauce and served them with rotini (spiral pasta) and a side of green beans. Always a hit with DS (and me ).

@hickle: It's not the quantity of posts one gets, it's the quality of the responses. Also, sometimes it takes time for the posters with the advice/opinions/ideas one is seeking to find one's thread and reply. As much as I am on the boards, I also go days without checking them which I am sure is the case for others. Some days these boards are far more active than others and, from what I can see, there is no rhyme or reason to the activity levels. So, please, continue to put your topics out there, keep an eye and respond to posts as you see fit, but don't worry about the length of your threads. And, try and go with the flow for a bit if your threads wander off topic for a while. It's a common occurrence here that can still be informative (and often entertaining). If you need to, you can always hop in and steer everyone back on course. Some of us will require you to hop back in several times -- not out of maliciousness, but because we can be a distractable lot. You seem like a genuinely nice, earnest, guy. Stick around. The world needs more guys like you.

Let's spend a few pages checking in on members who appear to be, or are, missing.
Dark? Anyone heard from him lately? Is he okay?
Toughtimes? Is she still living in Brooklyn?
Dr. Pig? Is he here under a different name?
Has anyone heard from MissRigby lately?
What about Constanz22?
Anyone else?

Or, let's discuss food.
Peanut butter and Fluff sandwiches.
Does organic peanut butter make this an acceptable food or does the Fluff negate any chance of this sandwich ever being deemed healthy?

I'm going with organic peanut butter makes everything healthy. Sort of like calories at a fast food place don't count if you wash it down with a trough of diet soda.

What the hell is FLUFF, please tell me. Fluffernutter. Marshmallow creme. It's a sticky, yummy, sweet spread with absolutely no redeeming nutritional value. It is made with egg whites and sugar and probably some stuff that isn't approved by the FDA. link
