We're at 10 pages! OP, your welcome. I told you all you needed to do was stick with me. And now I can mark the thread as "read forever"

Can someone explain to me how you keep all the details straight enough to actually catch people in the crap you guys do? (Hopes that is vague and specific enough all at once) I don't care enough to remember the details that well, it's just entertainment for me. I remember the darndest things whether I want to or not. I can pick up a book, looking for something I've read and have a pretty good idea of where I read it, down to what part of the page to look for it on, especially if I read it fairly recently. I have a ton of useless information stored in my head. I can look at a string of numbers and memorize it (think SS numbers, cc numbers ) and commit it to memory after seeing it only once. But that takes a bit of work. Knowing I can do that (and I'm not a criminal) made me more cautious about what I allow people to see. And uhhhh, I can also read upside down almost as easily as I can right side up and memorize that too. Think about the things people leave on their desk, thinking you can't read it because it's facing them. But don't ask me what I did yesterday. I can't remember things like that. I guess all the useless information uses up the capacity. Now I've contributed to the thread. Remember a book well? check. The previews you get at the end of books of the next in the series really mess me up sometimes. I'll read a couple paragraphs, know I've read it and want to put it down and move on to something I haven't. With all the previews being around now, I have to stop and think, do I remember the WHOLE thing or just this part? I know my library card number by heart. It's 14 digits or so. That's also a have to want to do it kind of thing. Reading upside down? Also check. Remembering the details of stuff I've read here from random people? Not so much. Some of you I might know a little too much about but the random, newish kind of folks? Nope.

ArchietheDragon - luckily, you weren't the "previous poster" I was talking about when I typed my comment. So you did not make me feel sad and annoyed. I read about you and your house full of girls and mostly I am amused. But at the same time, I truly cannot remember participating in a thread you started. Of course, I also can't remember a thread you started.

This usually happens at home, not at school or dcp. What I think is going on is that he's having fun playing and he doesn't want to stop playing to go to the bathroom. So when he finally DOES go to the bathroom, there's poop in his underwear. Sometimes a lot, sometimes just a skid mark. But 99.98% of the time, I'm the one cleaning the underwear, the washcloth and checking his butt. And this is damn near daily. He's 5.5 and I'm out of ways to talk to him about this. The only thing that seems to work is to consistently ask him how his underwear is and to remind make him go sit on the toilet and try to push every 30-45 minutes or so. He's not bad at wiping, for the most part. We used flushable wipes with our daughter, while we didn't clog the toilet, they were used enthusiastically. We'd rather not go back there again. My 5 yo is similar. He doesn't want to stop playing to go sit on the toilet, so he'll sit there, tugging at his underwear, and it gets streaks usually. He hasn't had a complete accident for a couple months now. He still doesn't even hardly try to wipe his butt himself. . But, when I do it for him, he always seems to still end up with streaks later. This is after using a ton to + flushable wipes. It is incredibly frustrating. It really is. I'm not going to offer advice because I do think we made damn near every mistake possible with Cabe on this.

Yes, I'm serious. I saw somewhere, not long ago, you and someone talking about it and thought how awesome but forgot the details. And where to find it. And what thread. :/ <<wanders off muttering ACTIONS button, don't forget>>

My husband is reluctant to commit to us NOT homeschooling, even though I'd be the one doing most of it.
I am quite sure that we will be supplementing our son's education at home, maybe to a high degree. I'm just antisocial/socially anxious enough that I really want him to have a structured environment to interact with other people, because I don't want to make him a hermit like me.
I'm content at this point to leave options open and say we'll work with what fits in our lives.
Also, I bought Ghirardelli brownie mix and Talenti chocolate brownie gelato, so I think I'm set on chocolate.
And, YAY, 10!

Quince, is your sons personality like yours? No, my son is awesome. He's a ham and loves having his picture taken, and while he will be shy when there are new adults in the room, that lasts like 60 seconds before he starts testing the waters with them. He's also 2, so who knows where his personality will go? I'm just trying to avoid teaching him that people are something to be anxious around.

I hate you all. <<digs in desk drawer for munchies>> While I'd like chocolate, I'm actually ok right now. I've got some carrots if I get desperate. I had mock crab salad for lunch and surprisingly, I'm still feeling full.

You guys remember those old screen doors? They didn't have a handle on them....just a wood frame. It had a hook and eye type of latch on the top? Not sure why. A toddler could have broken it open if they wanted to. I think it was to keep all of us grandkids outside in the summer. I totally remember those. there was one at the beach house where I spent most of my summers as a kid. the latch at the top was a piece of metal that would catch between two little roller wheels. that is one sound that immediately brings me back to that time and place - the sound of a door like that closing. and sorry I haven't been around much lately......i just started a new job and my monitor faces the open hallway. hope y'all are doing well! oh, and CL - for the last damn time, it's TONIC! sent from my electronic distraction
