Could it be possible that some people are fed up with politics as usual, are listening because Trump is stating the brutal truth? i agree with the brutal part, but what he says is not always true. i am not even sure it is usually true. so, this admiration for bluntness ALONE is pretty weird, imo.

Right - this was said as a joke when Al Franken was a comedian. Whether people find it funny is certainly up to them. But it is important to understand the difference between saying something as a joke, and saying something as the truth. And while some would say they are the same, it is important to understand the difference between a comedian and a politician. Ah, now I understand all of this. If a democrat says something in poor taste that he thinks is funny," it's perfectly alright. If a republican had said it, there couldn't be enough news coverage so satisfy people. So, if my friend is at the house and another guy stops by I can introduce him as my favorite N word and that's funny because I laugh when I say it?
The lengths people will go to in order to excuse their favorites.
So you are saying you don't understand the difference in the job definition of "comedian" vs "senator"? How about president vs. actor?

By the way - you can call your friends whatever you want in your own home, and even out in the street for that matter. If you like using the N word, it's certainly your prerogative. Not a choice I would personally make of course.
ETA: darn it, my picture didn't work. It was Ronald Reagan and his chimp costar from Bedtime for Bonzo. LOL. I know some here may think that was his vice president, but no! It was a movie....different from real life.

Nice try at spinning it vis-à-vis the difference between comedian vs. senator - the point, which you obviously miss in its entirety, is that bad behavior by anyone is bad behavior regardless of how they try to hide it behind "comedy."
As far as my using the N word is concerned, another nice try at attempting to discredit. I don't use that word and never will and your implication that I find it acceptable under any circumstance is both false and insulting to say the very least. Go find someone else to harass with that kind of BS.

And it was not me implying anything about you and the N word. You asked about using it. Wait.....were you using sarcasm, or saying something in a way that was not to be taken as something you seriously wanted to say? hmmmmmmmmmm. I heard comedians do that sometimes.

"So, if my friend is at the house and another guy stops by I can introduce him as my favorite N word and that's funny because I laugh when I say it?"
It certainly appears you asked if you could use the word and got super angry and defensive that the question was answered. If you didn't want an answer, you probably shouldn't have asked the question.

Ah, and the nonsense continues - you might take the time to find out what a rhetorical question is before proceeding with your disingenuous agenda aimed at excusing people like Franken.

Mass media attack over McCain. Yes, a world renowned figure running for POTUS should only get a small box on page A-6 of the Fern Valley Gazette...because he's a Repo. Last week when the coroner was announcing the coroners results on the black woman's suicide attempt in Texas, MSNBC, CNN, and Fox News all cut away for a major news alert, to cover Trump on the Texas/Mexico border, live. If you watched MSNBC today, you can see they are worried America is taking him serious

If you watched MSNBC today, you can see they are worried America is taking him serious then they are stupid. which is, of course, entirely possible. i think they are INTERESTED in candidate trump, much like i am INTERESTED in Sarah Palin and Orly Taitz and Ben Carson. but i am INTERESTED in them because they are bizarre and fascinating, not because they are serious candidates. speaking of Orly, she is going after Cruz, now- which is, of course, what she SHOULD do: blogs.ocweekly.com/navelgazing/2015/04/ted_cruz_orly_taitz_citizen_president.php

I also think there those who are in it for the lulz. Trump ... brutal truth ... are we talking about the same person who is running for the Republican nomination?

They may not have the time or inclination to do research on the issues and perhaps in RL as well, they rely on believing people who are blunt are also truthful.
I know this is not a correct assumption. I've read at least two Trump books, in addition to watching The Apprentice the first few years it was out. He might be a serious candidate in his opinion, or he may be hanging on for as long as he can, as last time I had read he had done this to bolster the ratings of The Apprentice or Celebrity Apprentice and had it worked beautifully.

Isn't it funny now that NBC, MSNBC and CNN have Trump to deal with, we no longer here anything about the evil Koch conspiracy of controlling the Republican nomination process.

I saw some footage of a focus group this morning that was talking about how much they liked Trump because he was 'just like them.'
WTF? He was born into a wealthy family, has wheeled and dealed his way (including using the bankruptcy laws to his own advantage MANY times) to his fortune, has been married and three times and likes nothing more than to bray about himself in any public forum that will give him access - including, now, the presidential race. What about this guy strikes anyone as being 'one with the common man?'
One guy did say something that I think is closer to the truth, though - he said he admired Trump because he was a billionaire and he (the voter) would also like to be a billionaire.
Maybe the 'common' man looks at Trump and thinks that with a little bit of luck, they could also be a loud mouthed rich guy with a flashy babe on his arm.
One of them said she thought Trump would put 'dignity' back into the presidency, which was sorely lacking - I nearly choked on my coffee over that one.
I'm not sure those folks actually know anything about Trump at all - he has about as much dignity as a carnival clown.

So now I see that Trump had a temper tantrum and screamed "You're disgusting" at a lawyer at a deposition who wanted to take a break so she could go pump breast milk.
So much for the working mom vote.

However, I don't think this one is quite stron enough to generally turn off most women like his hispanic immigrant one did with hispanics.
I am SURE Trump will eventually say something to turn off a LOT/most women. IMHO it is a basic mindset of his.

Well, Bringing up the ex-wife's rape charge did not hold water, so they have to use the milk pumping attorney to try and bring him down. Saw her on CNN the other night. A pompous ass, and the way she handled her argument about Trump was atrocious. She was loud and obnoxious. Sort of like Trump

Honestly, I think so many people were at least following politics (depending on which side you fell on) in 08' (Obama) and 10' (Tea party). I think they were, more or less, following politics like they follow a sports team...except that politics is not really that exciting when it comes to implementation. So now, the "casual fan" is just throwing caution to the wind because they don't think it matters who gets elected. they are like "What the h*ll, throw trump in there"
This is especially true for the tea party crowd. They voted all these clowns in there in 10' and they didn't accomplish jack.

I saw the Donald in an interview over the weekend and he was asked what he thought his biggest failure was.
In a mush mouth response he ended up saying, essentially, that he was a huge success. Although he didn't state he had never had any failures, it was implied.
Personally, I would never hire anyone who claimed never to have failed at anything. Either 1) your ego is so titanic you're blinded to the fact you've made mistakes, or 2) you always blame your failures on other people or circumstances, never yourself, or 3) your personal philosophy idolizes success so much, to admit to a failure is the equivalent of admitting you're a loser.
Wouldn't want this kind of person working for me, whether it's in my office or as my POTUS. Most of the best things I've learned came from something I screwed up, either in my personal life or work.

It's rampant unfortunately.
I do think the right has more, louder, examples though. I'm trying to think why and if I can back it up. Maybe because I just dismiss it when I see it on the left, and assume others will mostly too? But I see people embracing it on the right?
I am currently having a Facebook argument about whether we are in fact more racially and ethnically divided today in this country then we have ever been. The statement was made. I challenged it's veracity and asked for proof and the fallacy, name calling, and call to 'prove it's untrue' are hysterical ... By which I mean she is having hysterics. It's true as long as I can yell loud enough, throw in enough misdirection and disparage who I think you must be... Truth? What's that...

I really hope to see the debate on Thur. I do not have cable or dish so my only way is if Fox broadcasts it. Maybe we will get some Trump/Christe (if he makes the cut) fireworks. However, anything Trump & how the others respond or don't will be....interesting.

I like to listen to him, he's refreshingly un-PC. Should be an interesting debate. They also had a couple clips of Trump proclaiming himself to be 'loved by the hispanics' and 'loved by the Mexicans.' This despite the fact that his approval rating with Hispanics is somewhere in the teens. So apparently in the Trump school of success you just say what you wish to be true, even if it isn't true, and maybe, magically, it becomes true. The bad part is, for the GOP, that many of the other GOP candidates seem to be copying Trumps anti-immigration language, which will drive the Hispanic vote away not just from Trump but from the whole GOP party - The GOP seems intent on remaining the Angry White Guy party, rather than figuring out how to be more welcoming to minorities and women.

IMHO this is the 3rd presidential election where the GOP seems more interested in having their own way/ideas than actually getting elected. i do not remember (and I am OLD) any candidate on the fringes, left or right, EVER being elected. I go back to remembering about the time of Eisenhower.

There are many in the GOP who understand this, and are frustrated by it. However the candidates must pander to "the base" in order to gain the advantage in the primaries and the nominating process. The make up of this "base" is such that they force the contenders to focus on these divisive and often fringe position issues in order to try to appease them. The Democrats do have the same problem; it is part of party dynamics. However in the last couple of decades the GOP right has been more damaging to their party than the Dem left has been to theirs.
I agree, the candidates in the middle have the best chance of winning in general- that is where most of the people are. I blame the polls. GOP candidates see that Trump appears to have hit a nerve on immigration with the party base, and, hoping to also get a bump in polling numbers, they all climb on. They're focusing on approval numbers, though - yes a certain segment of the GOP wants to kick every immigrant out and build a giant wall, but a larger segment of society doesn't want such a heavy handed approach, and while Trumps numbers saw an increase within the GOP, overall, his "dislike" numbers are higher than any other GOP candidate. It would be nice to have some candidates who didn't mold themselves to whatever they think will gain them traction in the polls. I think so far maybe Bernie Sanders and Trump are the two who come closest to that.

Hmmmm. Do you suppose Trump is actually a democrat?
He surfaces will all kinds of nonsense, it fractures the already fractured republican party (think Perot) and Hillary walks away with the prize - not too far fetched or is it? OMG! Is there a chance I have some sort of extraterrestrial insight or what?
Listened to Charlie Gasparino pontificating on Cavuto's show this morning. His position is that Trump could very well be a "plant" in the republican party and that there's some sort of "agreement" between him and the democrats (Clinton). Hmmmm. I'm NOT a conspiracy theory type person but it was more than a little interesting to actually hear somebody pretty much say what I said in this post.
