I am curious to watch the new LA WD. Another poster who is big on WD said he isn't too interested in the spin off. What about you?

I am not really excited about it or anything. DH isn't interested in picking up a new show since we already have so many.
We'll at least DVR the pilot episode.
Not sure if they can give me characters I will be as invested in as I am on the WD.
I think Better Call Saul works b/c you got invested in Saul and Mike long before the spin-off. I am not sure a WD spin-off will be as popular.

I'm a big fan of spin off shows. I'm curious to see how the other side of the country is handling it. But I think you are right about being invested in the characters. I just don't see getting into them like I di these guys.

Well, I finally finished all 16 episodes. Whew... what a finale. I was so glad to see Morgan again. I think it is going to be interesting to see how Rick and Morgan relate to one another next season. They obviously have grown into two very different characters with very different perspectives.
Carole is really the character on the show who blows me away the most. The evolution from who she was at the start of the first season to who she is now is astonishing. Like Rick, she is capable of making hard decisions (e.g. when she killed the little girl in season 4). Since there are no mental institutions and/or prisons you need people like Carole and Rick around. Poor Tyrese really wasn't cut out to live in that world. Most people aren't but he truly wasn't capable of doing a lot of the things that needed to be done. I enjoyed his character because he was a good mix to the group.
I honestly think the show affects more a little more than it should. Last night after watching the finale I thought about it for a while (too long probably).
I have mixed feelings about the spinoff. Like others have said, I am really invested in the characters of the original so not sure I would feel the same about those in the spinoff but because it is going to be a summer show I will watch it. Since the beginning of The Walking Dead I have been wondering how other parts of the country were dealing with it so I am interested in that aspect. If it is different enough then maybe...

I do that too. I watch Talking Dead in order to unwind and be able to sleep. Otherwise I keep thinking about what I just watched.

The actor hinted on The Talking Dead finale that we will get to find out some of Morgan's backstory in the next season.
Anyone else watch Talking Dead and get thrown for a loop when you hear certain actors talk? Surprised me to find out several cast members are British. That's good acting, IMO.

OK I just finished watching the episode.......wow
At least it seems like the people of Alexandria are about to smarten up
I can see Rick posting guards, putting booby traps out front, and other things...especially after Darrel and company war him about the "wolves"
and the added power of Morgan.....although I am not sure about his "all life is precious" thing....he should have killed those 2 "wolves"

I thought Morgan was trying to attract the walkers as well. I liked that they brought Morgan in right as Rick blew Pete's head off. That goes totally against Morgan's philosophy that all life is sacred. It makes perfect sense to Rick b/c the guy was off the handle and you can't leave bad/insane people to live in the apocalypse. I think it's going to be interesting to watch the dictomy between Morgan and Rick. I liked the scene where Morgan handed Daryl the map. It was a great scene, so much was said without either actor actually speaking. Oh the Wolves will be back, Aaron left his pack behind. The guy that tried to kill Morgan was leafing thru the pictures, they now know about Alexandria. So...way late to this thread, just found it! So, that's where the pics came from! I was so confused about how they ended up in the hands of the Wolves.

Yes I was surprised so many were British. I agree good acting. Originally I thought Maggie's southern drawl was not right but considering she is British I gave her a pass. Now she's been on the show so long & I really like her so I don't even notice.

mafia thugs! because Carol did bring a casserole - LOL which I have no doubt he was going to die anyway because he broke her casserole dish and Carol wanted that dish back and cleaned! LOL

but it would be wrong if Ricks group just took over (sarcasm)
and Morgan thinks all life is precious, so I wouldn't be surprised opening of next seasons 1st episode if Morgan doesn't go all ninja on Rick for killing the doc
BTW - the town now needs a new architect and a doctor.......

I loved the scene with Pete and Carol.
I felt it was Carol getting closure. Look at how far she's come since the pilot episode. I felt like that was her showing she can now take care of herself. She's seen real threats and a douchebag like Pete is nothing.
I also disagree that Rick and his group are thugs. I think they are smart and Rick was simply stating a fact. At this stage in the game you can't afford to babysit a bunch of people who have no clue what the new reality is outside their wall (that can easily be knocked over/climbed)
Look at the people who are left on the planet outside of Rick's group. It makes far more sense for them to take control of Alexandria themselves than it would to let it topple and fall into the hands of people like the Terminites or the Wolves.

I agree. Carol has evolved so much from the first season and is stronger than she ever thought possible. While I agree with all the points you made regarding Rick, I do think the way he approached the main lady in charge (can't remember her name) was a bit on the crazy side. He knows she and her group haven't experienced the same ordeals he has and stating that he wanted to "take Pete out" (for lack of better words) was probably not the smartest approach. Rick and Carole both are capable of making the hard decisions though. They are the types I would want by my side. That preacher needs to go. Talk about annoying... but perhaps we will see his character make a transformation as well in the coming seasons.

Deanna.
I agree with you that Rick came off as seriously cray cray and then further exacerbated things when he snapped and started waving the gun around.
He was much more articulate in the finale and that's how he should have come out of the gate.
I think part of the problem is the group was dealing with a major case of PTSD. You're not going to be able to go from what happened to them for most of this season to being a charming cocktail party guest and friendly neighborhood cop overnight. Deanna seemed interesting in forcing them to be "normal" and integrate as fast as possible. She didn't want to hear about the idea of Alexandria adapting to be more like them. She wanted their skills/experience when it suited her and wanted it turned off when she didn't find it acceptable.
The only person I felt who handled things right was Aaron in regards to Daryl.
I'm hoping the preacher has a transformation. I was like "FINALLY!" during the finale when he finally embraced what he did. They've all done terrible/unforgivable things during the apocalypse.
Tyrese was right you don't have the luxury of sitting around holding a grudge anymore, you need to move on and accept what happened otherwise you won't survive.

That's funny cause it's true!
when Ricks crew shows up it's bad news for most or someone dies!
Look at Deanna!
she HAD a family! Now her son and husband are DEAD!!

Someone had better start growing some crops in Alexandria, which Ric's crew knows how to do. Resources are eventually going to run out. Going farther out each time to acquire things is going to get too risky. They better start thinking about how to maintain themselves inside of those walls.

They had better do something real quick about how flimsy those walls really are. What they have now may have been ok as a quick solution to the immediate walker threat, but walkers are just one part of their world now. Noah's town was taken out quickly and I believe they had better walls than Alexandria. (I believe it was the Wolves who took out his town.) I and the kids watch this show faithfully and we love it. We are actually looking forward to the summer series. I think it will be very interesting to see how it all started before Rick woke up. DS is going away to college next year, so he won't be wathcing it w/ us anymore. I thought he could pull a sheldon and join us via his laptop, but he doesn't think so.

I think it's a sure thing that Noah's town was taken out by the Wolves. Remember the semi they ran into and all those zombie torsos fell out? Every single one had a "W" carved into it's forehead.

I am not so sure and recently started to question Rick and the death penalty. We have this guy that was challenged by two guys that were going to rob and kill him. he chose to fight back, instead of killing the two guys.
but Rick (and gang) would disagree and would have killed the two guys. because they would eventually try and come back and make a second attempt to kill and rob. not thinking anything about their lives were spared.
therefore Rick is right? kill them now and don't have to be concerned about retaliation.

right!
another example is the husband that was killed! his life was spared during the fight with Rick! and what does this jackass do. he comes back threatening people and killed another person (by accident or not - doesn't matter) and now Rick shots him!
which I am sure this guy is not going to agree with Rick and he shouldn't have killed him. I am sure he is going to say / advise / tell rick there is another way! there is always another way! Life

Fear The Walking Dead - Sunday night! I'm excited. Anyone else going to tune in? I will be watching it. I was hoping it was going to start earlier this summer so that it doesn't overlap with the original. I wonder how many episodes they are planning to show? I am interested to see what they do with it. I am so invested in the characters of The Walking Dead (probably too much) that I am not sure my mind can handle another one

We're going to watch it. I've seen a few of the previews and I am intrigued. I am not sure I am going to be able to get as invested in it as I am the Walking Dead. It's going to depend on the actors.
I am hoping they give hints as to what caused the zombie outbreak. That's the main reason i plan on tuning in.
Also hope the CDC makes an appearance so we can know more about what was going on there before it got blew up.

I've seen two trailers & it looks pretty interesting. The Walkers are just newly infected so they don't look like walkers yet. I am probably overly invested in the original characters too!

Anyone else watch Fear the Walking Dead? DH and I are going to keep watching we're intrigued enough for now. DH kept telling me to shut up b/c I was yelling at the TV. I know what's going to happen b/c I watch the Walking Dead. I have to remind myself these people don't have those bits of information yet.
