No, I got a chuckle every time I had to deal with a customer whose last name was Peed.

Well, maybe not. Given the way Matthew died, Lady Mary might have a bit of an aversion to fast cars (though not to fast men).
No surprise on the Prince and Princess, though I think the countess will have some regrets. And good for Isobel telling Lord Merton to take a hike with his sons.
And all I can say for Mrs. Hughes and Mr. Carson is.....AWWWWW!

Well either way he seemed a much better match. She needs someone to bicker with not just a pretty face. It also seemed like Edith may have a new love interest. She wasn't acting too desperate, so good for her. Also any proposal that involves one person calling the other an "old boobie" is the best!

My OB's former partner was named R. Douglass Stiff. Any guesses as to what the R stands for?

Related to a Lord (second and third cousin), so he's well-connected but not too much to be snobby and not work for a living. Seems down to earth, like Gregson, but enough so to accept Marigold? And I want someone - anyone - to give Spratt a pointy boot up his silly ass. What a nasty person. I realize Denker isn't much to brag about, but at least she's human, for all her failings. Spratt looks like he walks around wearing his clothes still on the hanger.

I don't understand why the Dowager puts up with Spratt.

Not to give anything way for folks who have not yet seen the finale . . . . !
But - am I the only one who thinks they did a lot to tie up some loose ends (several stories are not resolved, but they are left in a satisfactory place, i.e., the Bates', Isobel and Violet resolving to find satisfaction with their memories and in their roles as The Edwardians), so just in case the show had not been renewed this COULD have been a finale of sorts?
Also - am I the only one, or does anyone else think the actor who plays Lord Sinderby looks - and acts - like (the late) Yul Brenner?

So now that you have all seen the finale I can finally post some stuff. It has been renewed for a 6th season. Now if you all remember I posted that I had read at the end of last season both Elizabeth McGovern and Maggie Smith planned to leave after this season but there was no sign of that in the finale. I have read that the next season is going to be the last one so I think they talked both actresses on returning for one more season and they both are. I have also just read that there will be 2 males leaving probably at the beginning of next season. One you can already guess since he has been talking about moving to America for 2 season now, yes Branson (although the actor does not want to leave). Can you guess who the other one is and possibly how they write him off?

We've known that for a while.

Branson is supposedly leaving for America, but so is Atticus (he's taking a job in New York).

Here are a few more thoughts from this season.
I am back to having a really hard time finding anything to like about Mary. She has totally gone back to the complete bitch she was in season 1. She was totally right when she said that Matthew brought out the best in her because he did. I started to actually like her a bit seasons 2-4. I hope this new guy lightens her up a bit.
I think Isobel should have stuck to her guns and told Lord Merton's sons to stuff it! I mean what a couple of total azzhats. Their mother is dead and they cannot get past their social snobbery to allow their father to be happy with the woman he loves. I wouldn't mind her with Dr Clarkson either.
I am so glad they got rid of Miss Bunting!
I am really tired of the whole Anna and Bates in and out of jail for this murder and that murder storylines. I think that a lot of fans are too and that they have made their voices known. I believe they will finally wrap this storyline up permanently at the beginning of next season.

Mary and I have a lot in common so I don't mind her I think it's good she thought it all the way through and decided that no one is worth being made miserable over. She'd feel for Lord Merton and the strained relationship he had with his kids if she stayed. I wasn't a huge fan of Bunting either, like they were trying to undo all that Tom has learned about things not being so black and white. It didn't make sense. Very tired of the Bates' issues, give it a rest already!

I believe they will finally wrap this storyline up permanently at the beginning of next season. Mary got it handed back a couple times during the Christmas special. Even once by her best friend Tom. You could see that one hurt her, so much that he actually said "just kidding", even though he wasn't. I've never been an Isobel fan, so I'll just go with no comment on her storyline. Miss Bunting is the worst, I'm sure Tom will do well in Boston without her and marry some classy lady who says "Pahk the cahh".

I'm thinking the other male actor could be Barrow, running off with the new footman. Or perhaps Mr. Molesley and Miss Baxter (Cora's lady's maid). I think the show should come to an end after next season. Julian Fellowes is contracted to do another TV show for 2015-2016's TV season, and I don't see how he can create for both. And it should end before WW II begins. The show has already been through WW I and one war is enough. With Branson and Rose going to America and who knows what for Edith (will she go to London to oversee Gregson's business or not?) the family is changing. And what about Charles Blake returning to the picture? He's away on business for a time at the moment, but could he come back and get in the way of any new man vying for Mary's hand in marriage? And no, I don't think Isobel could have told Lord Merton's sons where to stuff it. Unfortunately she, like Violet, is more Victorian than Edwardian in manners and morals. And Isobel is a peacemaker at heart, I think. But who knows? Maybe Merton's two awful offspring will be shipped to America somehow next season. Oh, and Lord Sinderby having a mistress...who'd have thunk it?

I did give a small clue in reply# 141 about the other male that may be leaving.
I have read so many different things in the last couple of weeks. One said that Julian Fellows is moving to the US to do a show. Who knows what's true at this point?

So? Plenty of writers do more than one show. Chuck Lorre did 2.5 Men and Big Bang at the same time forever and ever. Big whoop.

I posted that in response to Nancy' post about the rumor that he was doing another show. So many rumors flying around right now. Although it might be hard to do 2 shows in different countries.

One of my UK board members who also loves DA is suppose to keep me updated with all the latest gossip. I will ask her at trivia on Friday if she has heard anything new.
