My local PBS station ran a Season Six marathon yesterday. It started at noon and ended at 11:30 pm (8 episodes plus the "More Manners of Downton Abbey" special). It was great! I got a TON of knitting done while I sat and watched. DH even got off the couch (during one of the pledge breaks) and made dinner for me (he's a Downton fan too). THEN - he gives me my early birthday present - the boxed, 3-CD set of Season Six (we already have 1-5). THEN - he tells me No Fair Opening It To Watch The Finale - we have to wait and watch it together when it airs next Sunday. I might have to be a disobedient wife

I had the marathon too, but didn't get to start at the beginning, had family to visit with. I did watch all the way to the end and Mercy Street again too.

I don't know if we had the marathon but I fell asleep while watching the "More Manners of DA", so I guess that was not very exciting.

The manners shows always fascinate me because I get to see them all looking "normal".

Who picked that outfit for her? :/

I wonder if she just wants all the stuff with ties? Hopefully, so she can leave the good ones for me .
How is the goon search going, btw?

By that outfit you will be safely running away with all her clothes some time in the future. I never knew goons were so hard to find. I need to make a lower class of friends apparently.

We watched some of the marathon yesterday. And the manners show ~ it was interesting to hear why some people put their milk in first, then their tea!
For those of you tempted to peak at the Finale ... I say "go for it!" When I see it Sunday it will be my 3rd time and I'm STILL excited.

I'm trying not to think about it. At the rate it gets rewatched at my house, I won't really get it until there's nothing new to watch next January.

I want to know how Mary is going to get along in her marriage with the possibility of no servants. She is basically helpless in the home care areas.
Our finale is coming up Sunday. The Heritage Center is offering an afternoon showing followed by high tea. What to wear? I am so excited. The showing/tea trumps all the icky stuff in my life right now.
I can then rewatch at home in the evening.

Why wouldn't she have servants? She'll still be living at Downton.

Nope, her son is heir so she'll want to stay put there. Think she made that clear during their argument on the staircase. ETA: or current part owner, I forget how it was left.

Downton Abbey belongs to Mary and George, after the Earl of Grantham. She's not just the Agent, she's the heiress along with George thanks to Matthew's will. So, she'll have plenty of servants. And she'll keep on happily living there with a nanny and everything ... and George still gets to play with Sybbie, etc.

I like how Mary instituted work site daycare, how modern! I was very relieved Anna didn't bust mid-wedding. The Dowager really wouldn't have liked that!

I enjoyed the final episode, but I am kind of hoping for a sequel. I want to know if Tom Branson finds love again - he's the one person who needs and deserves it as much as any character does. And the new business - how exciting! And what of Daisy and Andy - they are so cute, but where will it go? Ditto Mr. Mason and Mrs. Patmore. And what of Miss Baxter and Mr. Moseley - two people with a fair share of pain in their pasts, who could make a go of things. I think there's a lot of material there for a Round II, and I hope if Julian Fellowes cannot get to it, given that he is working on a new series for U.S. television, then his team will.

Now what do I do with my Sunday nights?! I think they wrapped it up well, and gave good broad hints to what's coming of the "young" relationships. Tom and that editor girl will end up a very adorable couple at some point.

Talk about happy endings all around. Holy Moly. I guess that is what the audience wanted, though.

I don't know, I said "that's it?" when it ended and DH said "What did you want?". I don't know really but everything did end up a little too perfect. I suppose I need to just wait for the movie!

I fully expected things to be all happy for everyone, that's how they usually do these kinds of things. It would have been fun to have a little more drama, but they did exactly what I expected. (not sure if that's good or bad)

Why couldn't we have had a Talking Downton like they have Talking Dead? I heard all of the season are going to be rebroadcast on our public TV station.
