New York Times Reports On Muslim Proselytizing During Charlie Hebdo Attack, Then Deletes It Here’s the latest example of the New York Times censoring itself to avoid offending Muslims after an act of Islamic terror. This morning, BenK at Ace of Spades quoted an NYT story by Liz Alderman titled “Survivors Retrace a Scene of Horror at Charlie Hebdo.” Take note of these two paragraphs from that story:
Sigolène Vinson, a freelancer who had decided to come in that morning to take part in the meeting, thought she would be killed when one of the men approached her. Instead, she told French news media, the man said, “I’m not going to kill you because you’re a woman, we don’t kill women, but you must convert to Islam, read the Quran and cover yourself,” she recalled I was intrigued by this quote, and it seemed worth exploring, so I went to the NYT story to quote it. But guess what? Here’s what it says now: Instead of pulling the trigger, though, he told her she would not be killed because she was a woman. “Don’t be afraid, calm down, I won’t kill you,” the gunman told her in a steady voice, with a calm look in his eyes, she recalled. “You are a woman. But think about what you’re doing. It’s not right.” Nothing about telling her to convert to Islam. Nothing about telling her to read the Quran. Nothing about telling her to cover her face. dailycaller.com/2015/01/08/new-york-times-reports-on-muslim-proselytizing-during-charlie-hebdo-attack-then-deletes-it/
So I've got a brilliant idea of how we defeat these guys - send platoons of all female soldiers into their hide outs. They may not want to kill women, but I'm fine with killing radical terrorists. Send some of us menopausal broads who are already cranky and will get even more cranky when confronted with blazing hot, sandy desert climates and crazy terrorists. I can see myself, wearing a bikini with some pork sausage wrapped around my neck, riding an ATV into one of their hidey holes with some very powerful weapon that doesn't require a lot of skill to aim.

i don't know if it occurred to anyone that this analysis is overly simplistic, but it is. But no less accurate because of it's simplicity. what does that even mean?

i don't know if it occurred to anyone that this analysis is overly simplistic, but it is. But no less accurate because of it's simplicity. Sure- I could substitute gun ownership rates (actually declining if you look into it) with Big Macs eaten and it would be accurate too.
Doesn't mean a thing- but what it implies is incorrect. Hence the reason it gets used all the time.
France's gun laws are working just fine in answer to the OP.

Well, three down one to go. 1% of the world's one billion muslims are radical jihadists. Lot more than one to go.

I am dead serious about this- why don't we start a military operation to recruit jihadis? Just a simple slogan: die as a martyr for allah killing infidels, see paradise. Arrange a meeting point, and then waste them. They volunteered- fair game.

We attacked iraq, tried to hold territory, and nation-build. Yeah, like you said - "start a military operation to recruit jihadis". CIA? Basically a spec op- consisting of a tent somewhere. Take the recruits in the front door, gas them, and burn the bodies out back. Systematic. Get rid of these guys. Here's the best part-- even better than dead jihadis, because it's no jihadis: after you have a nice smoky pile of dead jihadis, cover their corpses in bacon- get photos and distribute them warning that there are covert ops all over the world being conducted by the CIA posing as recruiters for jihadists, and if you show up, the infidels will kill you, bury you in pork, and you will go to hell. Ought to disrupt and significantly control the recruiting process. The bottom line is that our war has not been focused, it has not been smart. We aren't getting the right people, the operation is big, bloated, expensive, and way off target. We need to get these guys, and we need to deter radicalization with good propaganda- make it utterly pointless- destroy morale; and kill those we can't deter.

You know nothing about Islam. One doesn't go to hell if someone else covers you in bacon post-mortem. You don't even go to hell if someone covers you in bacon while you're alive.

I think France has done remarkably well actually.....Hostage casualties could have been a lot worse.
The guy in the supermarket was starting to kill them, so their special forces had to act....and its looks like no hostages were killed in the fire fight.
If someone has a kalashnikov and is going on a rampage...people are in very serious danger.

For it to be against the Koran (and deny them their entry into heaven), the Muslim has to have done it willingly... whatever "it" happens to be at the time. "cover them in bacon" "shoot them with bullets dipped in bacon fat" "force them to see uncovered women" et cetera, et cetera, et cetera... All a bunch of garbage that just shows how uneducated in the faith people can be.

Seriously? I mean...really? You can't actually support & believe in this. There's bantering and baiting to get your jollies and then there's just crazy & offensive.

www.nydailynews.com/news/world/heroic-deli-clerk-hid-hostages-freezer-paris-siege-article-1.2073073
Lassana Bathily, a Muslim originally from Mali, was working when the 32-year-old gunman took over the store.
Despite the chaos, the 24-year-old grocery clerk said he was able to lead several customers downstairs to the freezer.
“I turned off the light. I turned off the freezer,” he told BFMTV, according to a translated copy of the interview. “I told them to stay calm there, I'm going out.”
Bathily said he kept at least six people safe in the freezer during the hours-long standoff.
So that's one decent Muslim out of a billion terrorists right? Strange- it appears Fox missed this story

There is a Unity rally in Paris later today which includes 42 world leaders.... including Israeli (Netanyahu) and Palestinian (Abbas)
Lets hope it can bring people together.......Not just for France but for other countries that are dealing with terrorism.
Its true that the policeman who was shot in the head execution style....was a Muslim Its true the supermarket worker who saved people by hiding them in a fridge was Muslim. Normal working everyday Muslims are not responsible for this......it is the action of mad men and that needs to be spelled out loud and clear.

Another recent massacre by Islamic terrorists that we haven't heard much about in the shadow of the Paris attacks.
2,000 feared killed in 'deadliest' Boko Haram attack in Nigeria Kano, Nigeria (CNN)—Boko Haram militants opened fire on northern Nigerian villages, leaving bodies scattered everywhere and as many as 2,000 people feared dead, officials said. "The attack on Baga and surrounding towns looks as if it could be Boko Haram's deadliest act," Amnesty International said in a statement. When they arrived, they unloaded motorcycles and pursued residents who fled into the bush, firing indiscriminately, said Baba Abba Hassan, a local district head. Local officials reported death tolls ranging from hundreds to as many as 2,000 people. "Dead bodies litter the bushes in the area and it is still not safe to go and pick them (up) for burial," said Musa Bukar, the chairman of the local government where Baga is located. "Some people who hid in their homes were burned alive." Raid lasted for days. www.cnn.com/2015/01/09/africa/boko-haram-violence/

Well the French Gendarmie took them out. Note that- no survivors. No Boston Marathon type trial, no BS, just dealt with it.
The French Government also explicitly stated not long after 9-11 that any terrorist WMD attacks on French cities would be met with nuclear warheads against whatever state could be tied to the terrorists responsible. Contrary to popular misperception in our country, France does not F around with this.
Unite mes amies, unite. you familiar with the Battle Of Algiers? it is possibly the first terrorist campaign in post WW2 history.
