I am eating the other half of my half Subway I got for lunch. Hubby and DD are going to help get rid of the luncheon meats. I'm baking chicken breast for tomorrow. Going to make yellow rice and likely fried potatoes for my husband or maybe scalloped. I also have some cauliflower and broccoli to add to the meal.
1 to 2 pounds a week is all that is recommended. If you lose more from what I have read you lose muscle then when you gain weight again that will be replaced by fat.
I started getting sick yesterday morning. I think its the stress from DD. I slept well last night and fixed breakfast early for the family, then went back to bed for several hours after taking a Benadryl.
I bought a vaporizer, Vicks, to help me sleep tonight, it is adding Vicks vapor to the air.
Breakfast 2- 4 inch pancakes?? Couple tablespoons of strawberry syrup, had a bottle of orange juice Lunch got a 6 inch tuna, ate half Dinner I'm eating the other half of the tuna sandwich, I may have some chicken or rice with it when its done. I haven't felt good so not very hungry. But I think I'm getting better, throat isn't as sore as it was, but I'm kind of aching all over too.
for the stress. please make sure you're taking care of you as best you can. question for you - do you marinate the chicken when you bake it? I am not a fan of dry chicken, and it always seems to come out that way when I bake b/s chicken breasts. thanks!

late last week, I retrieved almost everything that was still out at my sister's house - including my scale. it's been tough, with all the snow....but I really couldn't put that off any longer. buying new things to add to the small bag I'd packed when I got back from vacation, even on sale, was getting expensive! I hopped on the scale Friday morning after bringing it to the new house, and discovered that I was the same weight as before vacation - 201.4. that tells me that the week post-vacation, of eating like an idiot while moving, was epic....because I barely ate on the cruise, since the food sucks so bad. oh well. I guess I should look at that as a win, that I didn't gain anything while in transit. Saturday night, I felt like I was getting sick. I had a couple friends over to distract the puppy while I unpacked, and they convinced me to pour a couple fingers of a very strong whiskey I'd bought to celebrate the new house. it took me about an hour to get it all down, that was dinner. when they left, I put the puppy in the pen and slept for about 12h (with breaks to let the pup out overnight) before moving from the bed to the couch. out of sheer curiosity, I got on the scale and saw 199.4. and I felt way better for having slept it off. woot! yesterday afternoon, those same friends came back to distract the puppy while I unpacked some more. while here, we indulged a little in some bacon-wrapped, habanero and cream cheese-stuffed jalapenos, habaneros, and mushrooms. baked on a sheet pan, not fried (trying to justify here.... ) and had a few mimosas over the afternoon. I haven't gotten on the scale yet, probably won't for another couple days. I need to figure out my new routine, and then I'll get back to it more seriously. if I can just maintain right now, I'll be happy. for all of you in the path of Marcus this week, stay warm!

Ok, how the heck does anyone keep a chocolate bunny around for 10 months?!?! 22K steps today. My legs HURT. Good I'm not the only one wondering about that. Where we used to live in Florida we had a Russell Stover candy outlet store. Since we were visiting friends that had never been there before, and we were close, the 4 of us went there. That was in mid-December. The chocolate bunny was leftover from Easter 2014 and was likely $.25, so I bought it. That was the best thing about the outlet. The absolute best time to shop there was after Mothers Day. All the candy not sold during the past 12 months was on clearance.
DH still has a bag of his dark chocolate (yuck) in the fridge. Since I don't like it, and he has unbelievable control about eating sweet things, it's safe from me. However, the bunny lasted from Dec. 18 until yesterday.

No one asked me, but I bake chicken breasts all the time and they don't come out dry. I rarely marinate. I usually bake them in the toaster oven since it is just me and DH. And they are so juicy. If I bake them in the oven, I always sear them first.

interesting. I don't have a toaster oven, though. hmm... I bake b/s chicken thighs all the time, and they come out awesome. but there's more fat in a thigh than a breast. do you cover the baking dish? I don't for thighs. I've tried both covered and uncovered for the breasts.
when I cook b/s breasts, I'll either grill/grill pan after marinating in a garlic peppercorn marinade or saute in a little bit of garlic/olive oil and heavily season with cracked black pepper.

Hi Start, nice to have you here! Does your doctor know and approve of your 4-6 pounds a week plan? If there's anyone who can meet a goal like that it's you, but it makes me a tad concerned for your general health and welfare. Go get 'em, Tiger! Savings- yep, the reason I see the doctor weekly is to monitor all my vitals! I get regular blood work, EKGs, BP, measurements, etc so they know physically I'm doing well. I can't really share much about what I'm eating but it's all balance for nutrients, protein, vitamins, etc. So far in 2 weeks I've lost 12 pounds so we'll see after my weigh in today how I'm doing Hoping to hit 18 pounds since I really stepped up the exercise this week.

Hi ladies! Not too much to report....I am not planning on traveling to see BF until Friday this week, so should be a GREAT week to finally start incorporating excercise into my workout plans! And in EXTREMELY EXCITING NEWS......I have been approved to become a Work At Home (WAH) employee! This means I get to move in with BF!! So I am going to be renting my house and moving an hr away to live with BF! I AM SO FLIPPIN EXCITED! This is going to be a lot of changes for me....and as far as weight loss goes the sky is the limit with this change.....we have several coworkers that went to WAH and lost 100s of lbs! You have your own food to eat and don't have to rely on the vending machine or fast food joints for lunch if you forget yours or just don't have time to make something in the morning. Plus part of my job is taking phone calls, so I can do squats, pushups, jumping jacks, planks, etc. while I am on hold or inbetween phone calls! Plus I can have an excercise ball instead of a desk chair when I want, so even more ab work! Seriously so excited, everything seems to be calling together for me! Also I have not told BF yet, as I just found out this morning....he has been doing everything he can (gettting me job applications, finding out what jobs are available, helping me make resumes) for months now trying to get me to move to his town....so he is going to be soooooo HAPPY! I am keeping it a secret till Valentines Day to surprise him!!

After 9 days off from the gym I got up early, got dressed in workout clothes, drove to the gym, scanned my thumbprint... and the door/door lock was jammed. Couldn't get in.

I wrap my chicken in tin foil, like a tin foil tent and put it in the oven, it keeps the moisture in the meat.

Weighed in at the doctor tonight at I've lost 17 lbs in 3 weeks! Staying pretty steady at 5.5 or so per week so I'm going to work out harder and see if I can get it up to 7 lbs/week. It would be great to hit my first goal before I go to Mexico in a month.

THM diet is going really well. Just 1.5lbs to go to hit married weight (aka - pre babies!). What I love the most about it is it runs on 3 hour increments. So if I cheat, it's ok. Just wait 3 hours and start over again. No throwing out the whole day. I got some vanilla protein powder and I've been mixing it in with my coffee for a nice treat in the afternoon. The recipe for skinny chocolate is awesome - you all should try it! This diet has the best recipes. It hardly seems like a diet at all. I am pretty sure I am eating better now than I did when I wasn't tracking anything Now to start jogging again. The charity run we do every spring is coming up on 4/26. I need to be able to run 4 miles with DH. Hopefully it won't take me too long to get back to that.

Have you quit eating entirely? it's complicated but my entire diet is prescribed and overseen by the doctor so I know it's still healthy. They do bloodwork and medical exams twice a month as well. But yeah, it's designed for rapid weight loss and then when you hit your goal there's on-going support and transition time incorporated.

The doctors must be doing a good job keeping the nutrition up because I feel kind of weak just cutting back the amount I did.

I had my fruit smoothie drink for breakfast and a snack was 1 of those round cheese things that are individually wrapped in red wax. Lunch was a veggie wrap with carrots, onions, red pepper & lettuce. I put in 1 thin slice of turkey breast, 1 T of shredded cheese and a couple Ts of medium hot salsa. All this was wrapped in a flour tortilla.
I just got back from my walk around the community and I'm up to 5K steps for the day so far.
Oh, and I've also ordered a new scale from Amazon, it is one that also shows your previous weight from the last time you stepped on it. $36, no shipping, no sales tax...OMG I love that place.

My scale sucks. I would love a digital one but I'm too cheap to just toss one that "works". Mine I get on and watch the indicator fling back and forth and back and forth before it finally settles on a weight and if I get off and get on again it might be a different reading so I think it sticks. I'll usually weigh myself 4 or 5 times to make sure I'm getting a consistent reading.
Tomorrow morning is weigh in day for week 1 of my 23 pounds in 23 weeks challenge!

I leave the skin on most of the time to grill, but to bake I take it off mine and have the option to leave it for DH. Much more moist and no dealing with gigantic breasts. I haven't been able to eat a whole chicken breast myself for years now because they are grossly oversized.

Well I got myself to the gym to do some cardio this morning. It was hard to get out the door and I was making lots of excuses for why I didn't need to go, but I feel much better now. I also got my car washed and picked up some stuff to make indian food. The weather will start to warm up this week and the icy patches on the trail I usually walk will hopefully be melted.

WoooHoooo!!!! I've lost another pound, that makes a total of 4# off!!!
That scale just sat there for a couple of days and it would have been easy to say "nothing is working, screw it". This time I didn't do that, I just kept doing what I knew was the right thing to do.

I'm only weighing myself on Wednesdays. Daily fluctuations will drive me nuts.
Week #1 of my 23 pounds in 23 weeks challenge. Down 2 pounds. I’ll admit I was hoping for more since I thought my initial weight was a little inflated (weighed myself at night), but whatever…still ahead of schedule. 21 to go!

I have to go out to eat at Perkins tonight. I checked out their menu online and this is not going to be good for the diet. I just wanted to get some boxes from my BIL so I can get box up some kids clothes and of course he can't just meet me and give me boxes! It has to be a "lets go out to eat" deal.

MPL - the only Perkins I have been to was in Omaha. I remember seeing salads on the menu. could you do that? have the dressing on the side, and ask for grilled chicken instead of fried if that's what's listed for the salad. good luck! I hopped on the scale last night (I never do that at night, only in the morning) in order to then pick up the pup and get a weight on her. she's now up to 27lbs! but I was equally surprised to see myself at 199.8 at the end of the day. oh, and my pants are pretty much falling off my ass today. I wish I knew where my belt was....I might have to go buy one at lunch. I'm going to walmart with a list anyway, I'll just add that to it.

They have a nutrition calculator on their website and so far (I haven't gone through all of them) the salads are coming in at 900-1100 calories!
The best I've found so far is the Honey Mustard Chicken 'n' Bacon Sandwich, Grilled at 770 calories.
eta: Never mind. Garden salad with chicken noodle soup is 400!

yup, that's your fried chicken, shredded cheese, even fried tortilla shells that are driving up the calorie counts. also, a typical dousing of dressing is included in that calc. sides of dressing are almost always smaller than whatever's going onto the dish in the kitchen, and nobody's forcing you to use all of it from the side cup too.
I know you're set to meet up there, but for future reference (and for everyone else in this thread!) you can go nuts at Panera with a few of the options. my favorite pairing is the "classic cafe salad" with black bean soup. doing full portions of each, with a baguette for dipping in the soup comes to about 580 calories. I always get the balsamic on the side, which lowers that number a little. full portions of each ends up being an only meal that day, because it's all such filling stuff. but you can always do the you pick two and do halves of each.

It's the chicken and cheese that makes salads so good! It kind of seems a waste to go out to eat and get a garden salad. Bleh..I'd rather eat a turkey sandwich at home. We don't have a Panera anywhere near us. Not a lot of options in this town.

If you were on the THM diet you could have a salad with grilled chicken and cheese, and even dressing (as long as it didn't have sugar). Just no croutons or tortilla strips. That would be a good S meal (low-carb). Calorie counts don't really matter. Just fuel source. Carbs or fat but not both together.
My favorite is Chipotle. I get a salad (no dressing) with beef, fajita veggies, pico, green salsa, cheese & sour cream (S- low-carb). Or get a salad with chicken, beans, pico, green salsa & corn salsa for an E - low-fat meal.
