Meeting financial goals? I can perform miracles. This? Eh. Bit more of a challenge. Yup, me too. But I am happy to say that earlier this school year I decided that I was done being embarrassed and ashamed of how fluffy I had become so I re-joined Weight Watchers, made a commitment to an exercise plan and now I'm back down to the point on the scale that I'm content with.

It is? Hmmmm, that's not what I'm looking for in a "Let's Get Fit" thread. Sure I don't mind people bitching but I don't want to hear gals whining if they've got a donut in one hand, the remote in the other and they're lying on the couch saying it's just not fair that they... don't have a good metabolism, don't have time to workout, don't have their husband's support, don't have clean clothes...
Am I just cold hearted?

Does anyone use protein shakes for a meal. I thought it sounded like a great idea for breakfast. Only 160 calories and nearly my entire days protein requirement, but it's only 9am and I'm starving. It's above zero out, so I'm going to go for a walk today at lunch. It will probably only be about 20 minutes since I still need time to eat as well, but better than the nothing I've been doing the past 7 months. I've decided I want to get to 145 pounds by DS's birthday party mid-July. 23 weeks for 23 pounds. I can do this. I will be so happy if I do this.

MPL - maybe also have a carb with fiber with your breakfast shake?

I'm better now that I cracked open a Diet Pepsi. My one addiction. I thought I could skip my morning one with a drink for a breakfast, but apparently my body still missed it.
Monday I will try adding a carb. Weekends I normally have time to make eggs or I skip breakfast entirely.

Even if it has hundreds of calories, I still feel hungry. I also find that I need to combine carbs and protein to keep me full from breakfast to lunch. It was a lot of trial and error to get to that point though. My go to breakfast is peanut butter on a toasted bagel or English muffin (whole wheat of course ), milk, and coffee. Most days it keeps going until I eat lunch sometime between 12 and 1.
*******
My exercise is down this week. Between my mom being in town and my DH being depressed over his physical issues, I just don't have the energy to exercise. I'm using all my energy on others. It's frustrating, but next week is a new week, and hopefully I'll feel more like exercising again. 15 days until I leave for a week at the beach!!! CAN.NOT.WAIT!

Hey! Peanut butter. I should try that. I have boat loads of it after stocking up at Sam's Club a while back and now both my kids decided they don't really care for it. Years ago I used to do PB&J for lunch all the time but I haven't touched it myself for a long time either. I've gotten into having more hearty hot lunches and that might be part of my problem.

I've decided I need to approach this the same way that is successful for me with money....SPREADSHEETS! I just did a simple one with the 23 weeks and I'm already way more motivated.

I would be starving, too, if that's all I ate for breakfast! I've found that I do best if I have a breakfast that is high fiber, and has a nice amount of protein. So what's worked well for me is a cup of Original Fiber One with some unsweetened vanilla Almond Breeze, then I make a diabetic-specific protein shake in the blender with some ice and a small banana mixed in. All of that protein and fiber keep me feeling full until lunch, and with the addition of the banana, I'm nicely fueled, too. This has been my go-to standard breakfast for more than 8 months and it works for me. (And the fiber helps keep my blood sugars from spiking and falling ~ triggering hunger)

Granny muscles her way into this thread too. I did have 40# to lose this past Monday, but it's only 37 #s now. My breakfast is 1/4c strawberries, 1/2 cottage cheese, enough Crystal Lite to make a smoothie, and I turn on my Ninja. I usually have a morning snack around 10AM and another in the afternoon about 3PM.
I have my pedometer, and I've managed to walk my 10,000 steps per day for the last 3 days but my leg muscles aren't to happy with me right now, but I'll keep going anyway.

Finally! I haven't been able to get in since the forum changed names... Finally fixed my app and now I am here.
So protein shakes? I don't buy any premade shakes... I try and steer clear of packaged/ processed foods. I used to put together a morning smoothie with fage Greek yogurt. 2% has a great amount of protein. 20ish grams. Some honey and frozen fruit with a dash of almond milk to thin and some chia seeds. I am sensitive to dairy and it causes sinus issues, so I steer clear of it (SADNESS!!!) My Dr. Gave me a powder called SP complete... It only has 10g of protein, but it has lots of vitamins and other great stuff. I don't love the way it tastes so I am still experimenting with what fruits and such to mix in. I do recommend making your own so that you can control what goes in and avoid all this nasty preservatives and other random crap.
I am currently out of commission for working out. I have been having stomach pains in the middle of my abdomen very much like the pains from food poisoning, but no other gastro issues. Bending and even sitting in certain positions can bring on the pain. It seems a bit better today... I am eager for it to go away so I can get back to it. 2 weeks until vacation and I need to keep my core strong!

So, I friended my Mom, Aunts and a cousin on my Fitbit. Holy cow! They are animals! They all have an average step rate of at least 14K/day and one is over 24K! I look very inadequate down there at the bottom of the list. BUT, I am determined to beat them! I have no idea how I'm going to do it. They're all freaking retired and/or live in Hawaii. Little easier to walk all the time when it's 75 and sunny. I have to be careful to not get too crazy and start slow. I just got back into walking yesterday and my shins are killing me from just a short walk. I can see myself trying to pile the miles on right away and being too sore to move for a week. This morning I had toast with peanut butter and a banana.

What i often end up doing at the end of the day is walking while I watch tv. 3-4 steps forward, 3-4 steps backwards, swinging my arms at a brisk pace. It gets steps in and is better than nothing. I often get into the tv show i am watching and forget I am even walking. Next thing I know... half an hour has passed and I am up 4000 steps! Also, don't forget to take some time to stretch after your walks. It keeps the muscles from getting so tight and sore and is great for your back.

I get my 10K steps by breaking them down into 500 step segments. I have a pattern in this house that goes from the master bedroom, around the great room, into the guest room and pass by the windows, back out to the great room, around the kitchen, turn left around the dining room table, make a left into the master bedroom (need to land on a particular tile) and it's 100 steps for each route. I do 500 steps each time.
The last 2 days I've walked around our little community and that add another 2000K steps. I try to have them all done by dinner if I can. I'm at 2611 right now, but we were out trimming a big oak tree and I was responsible for carrying the smaller limbs to the construction dumpster. Will have lunch and start in again.
I also make a break for the inside walking when commercials come on TV. I can normally get 400 steps in, sometimes 500 if I'm lucky.
Sorry you're not feeling up to par these days sarcasticgirl, hope it doesn't last much longer.

Excited to be down a lil bit more! Since I am always out of town or at work, I haven't bought groceries in forever. I only spent $17 this year on groceries for my own home. Planning to go Monday and buy some fresh fruits, veggies, milk, cottage cheese, yogurt etc. Having those around to snack on will def help!
I realized I have plans every single weekend in Feb, so I am going to be need to be diligent with drinking water and moving when I can, even if it is only a little bit. I really crave the pop when I am driving (road triping) so need to plan ahead and make sure I always have my water and maybe some protein/fiber bars in the car.
BF and I are going on a trip 3/8 and I wanted to be at 170 by then. Will be super tough, but it is doable if I actually put my mind to it and worked hard. Today I am doing weigh-ins and brackets for an arm wrestling tournament so will be at the bar all day, but planning on water all day until the finals, then maybe 1-2 beers.
Very happy to be under 185, now on to under 180!
Banker Gurl 184.6lbs (192.8lbs 1/1/15) = Down 8.2lbs Goal Weight = 140lbs

had a bad day with food today. DH brought home 5 boxes of girl scout cookies and I ate a sleeve of thin mints over the course of about 5 hours. I have to get them out of the house, and everywhere I go the girl scouts are selling them. They don't stop until they sell all the boxes. I managed to avoid them at the store today, but I get tired of saying no.
Tomorrow we are going snowshoeing. I don't know how far, but I imagine we will be out 2-3 hours. I have to do my yoga early before we go, but it should be easy. I peeked at the day 12 video and it is a shorter one.

snowshoeing was tough! DH didn't know we were climbing a mountain. I thought it was just going to be cross country flat. I worked up quite a sweat, and unfortunately will be skipping today's yoga session as I am very tired. Tomorrow I will do both sessions to catch up. It was snowing while we were out. Pretty heavy at times, and because of the fresh snowfall we had a few tumbles. Snowshoes take some getting used to, and my legs got a great work out.

I admit it, I failed today. We had a friend here and the 3 of us worked to significantly trim a large oak tree that overhangs the fence between us and a neighbor. It was so close to the house that the raccoons were using it to jump onto our roof and leave their poop. We hauled and dragged the branches to the builders dumpster for 3 hours.
We came in the house, heated a WMT pizza and I ate 2 pieces. Then, I knew where the solid chocolate bunny was left from Easter of last year. I opened the package and ate the bunnys ears. I then attacked his feet and won that battle. Next was his head (ym yum oh so good). Sadly to say, there is no more bunny, only fond memories of how good a big bunny of solid chocolate tastes.
In defense, I have now walked 8000 steps and will get to my 10K steps in before the sun sets tonight.

Oh it's confession time, lol. Sometimes we just got to eat that chocolate bunny. I'm surprised you still had it from last Easter.
Okay my confession, I had a bag of solid Lindt Chocolate balls from Christmas time, yeah I ate the whole 150g bag for dinner last Thursday night.

Oops forgot to add, the scale finally budged for the first time in nearly a month. Down 2 pounds today. No idea what the rhyme or reason for that is... I have been sleeping and laying around for 3 days with this crazy virus. I did go out to dinner last night, plans we had on the books for a month or so. Sushi and wine. It was fantastic. I went to brunch with a friend this morning and ate half of an order of eggs Benedict. Came home and slept for two hours. I clearly need to take things easy because the virus still isn't gone and I am wiped of all energy. I am just so bummed that I cannot workout. As soon as I am over this...I am back to major core work. 13 days until vacation!
I am making some chicken and veggie soup right now. It will serve as dinner and a couple of lunches this week.
As for splurges, I don't need to confess... As confessions mean that I did something wrong. I have chocolates a few times a week a piece or two here and there. I work it into my calorie intake. If I deprive myself, then I will end up eating way more than I should. So I keep some of my favorite dark chocolate on hand and have some on a regular basis. I go through a bar a week... A bar is roughly 500 calories. Spread over a week, not so bad at all.

Hey Ladies, I'd love to join you! I started a program in January and then added on to it last week so I'm doing really well so far in 2015 but always looking for extra ideas and support.
I see the doctor tomorrow and will find out how much I'm down in 3 weeks.
My Stage 1 goal is 34 pounds lost and I want to reach that by the end of the month by losing 4-6 pounds a week.
My biggest challenges are probably going to be traveling - I go to Mexico in March and then Seattle in April and Canada in June. I'm planning to focus and do this hard core through June to get as close to my goal weight as possible and then keep working with my coach for maintaining the weight.
One thing I've definitely noticed is how much the scale fluctuates so I'm only going to report in what the weight is on Mondays after I see the doctor.
For exercise today I did a full circuit at the gym for weight lifting and then did somewhere between 1-2 miles jogging. I hate cardio inside so I went out and did 5 laps in the country, I think it's about a quarter mile per lap. It was POURING rain so I was pretty well soaked by the time I was done. Running in the mud and trying to dodge puddles, sticks and such was a challenge.

Hi Start, nice to have you here! Does your doctor know and approve of your 4-6 pounds a week plan? If there's anyone who can meet a goal like that it's you, but it makes me a tad concerned for your general health and welfare. Go get 'em, Tiger!

After winning the 2 challenges for January I've taken a week off from the gym. I made myself get up at the same early time and spent my extra time at work. It was nice to get things there a little better under control. Tomorrow I plan to start up back at the gym again. I'm a little apprehensive but I don't know why... Wish me luck!

Went for a walk with DH and the dogs. We only did about 2.5 miles because it was icy. DH fell down, and I told him if he couldn't get up I'd have to leave him there to die. We got home and let the dogs off leash to run in the yard. They always get frisky no matter how far we've gone. But our big dog was a little rough nipping at DH, so brilliant DH decided to pick him up and pin him to the ground and he got bit. It wasn't horrible, but it broke the skin. DH deserved it because he is always bothering the dog.
I still have to do my double session of yoga. Don't feel like it yet though.
