Yesterday I walked the dogs 3 miles. There was a bit of snow and ice on the path which was why I did 3 miles instead of 5 like I planned, and when I was about half a mile away from home it started snowing pretty heavily. So the whole thing took nearly as long as 5 miles would have taken in good conditions. Today I am opting out of walking because we got more snow during the night and it keeps snowing off and on this morning. The path will be much worse and my dogs pull on the leash some so I worry about a fall. I have to lift weights though so I'll be good with just that.
I'm going to make some soup today, and I need to stop myself from making grilled cheese sandwiches to dip in the soup!

I am posting here to say that I am starting the 30 day shred today. I leave for vacation in 25 days so I won't complete it. But I am hoping to do some strengthening and toning in the 25 days that I have left. My weight isn't budging and my doc says that it is possible that it won't until i manage to de-stress. Maybe the shred will help me do that.
Some pretty huge changes are coming to the work place soon. A new director just started and she is ready to make some huge changes and really stir things up... but hopefully in a good way. *crosses fingers*

Now, I love them!

Ladies - getting close to the end of January. How is everybody doing? There are 3 full days left in the month, is anybody interested in a mini-3-day-challenge of "getting back to our January 1st habits"? Maybe take the thing you felt the least successful with this month and focus there for the next 3 days. I, for one, need to pay more attention to calorie intake. The exercise has been pretty decent and I need to stay on track with that but moreso, I need to stop jamming food in my mouth. There is an emotional component here as well as a physical one, but the physical should be passed. Now that I'm not boozing, I have the option to dig more into this one. I'm going to take the next 3 days to focus on my food intake. Should also be interesting because I'm going to Whistler on Friday for our annual ski trip. It's me and 7 dudes ( and sometimes ) so as long as I stay away from their chips and cheese sauce, I should be okay. Anybody else interested?

I'm with you scrgrl. Somehow my weight is down to 180.4 this morning, and I really hoped to be in the 170s by the time February came. I know I'm just half a pound away, but I just lost a couple of pounds so I think another half pound will be difficult without a lot of work. Even though I had that long stretch where I wasn't losing anything, my average loss since the beginning of the year is a pound a week. I'm happy with that. But my top things to focus on are 1) getting at least 5 vegetable and 3 fruit servings a day, 2) be consistent with walking and continue doing well with yoga. One thing I wanted to share is that I am back into a solid yoga practice. I started doing it in the evening before bed, and I was feeling so good that I found a 30 day challenge on youtube that I started Yoga with Adrienne start of 30 day challenge. I really notice a difference even in a short amount of time. I'm drinking more water, craving healthier food, not mindlessly snacking so much, and I have had a lot less alcohol without feeling like I am missing anything. Pat- I think exercise will help, but it will just take a lot of time. And you probably think it looks a lot worse than it actually does.

oof. checking in post-cruise. haven't seen a scale yet, but I'm pretty sure my friend and I just burned off everything we drank all weekend because we had to dig the ice out of the end of my new house's driveway for the POD that got delivered today.....in about 30 minutes. I'm on the Cape now for the weekend, going to move in once I get keys. will head back to my sister's place on Monday to pack up hopefully everything that's out there, including my scale. :-P sent from my electronic distraction

I am up for the challenge. I have had a frustrating January. I have been much more successful in eating better. Especially with getting more veggies in. Lots of salads. I have been more active, but no movement on the scale. Stress. Crappy sleep. Last night my chargeHR registered my best sleep yet. 5 hours and 15 minutes. Still a lot of restlessness. Note that I went to bed a little after 10pm and got up at 6:40.
I am focusing on food again, specifically fruit and veggie intake.
30 day shred again tonight, hoping the soreness from Tuesday night's workout subsides.
PMSing like crazy- trying to keep it in check.

Today is my last day on my dietbet on dietbetter.com BF and I are both doing it together. He is right at his goal (down 10 ish lbs). According to the scale this morning...I need to lose .7 more lbs. I have till tomorrow night at midnight, so I am hoping tomorrow morning I will be there. Will be a very low calorie day for me today. My scale has been very questionable as I can get on it and then right back on and fluctuates 2-3 lbs either way and I could way 10 times in a row and get 10 different numbers, so I am going to buy a new battery and hope that helps fix that as it is frustrating. My 10lb goal for the month seems out of reach as I am down 7 right now, hoping to be down 8 tomorrow...but Friday night we are going out to dinner and Saturday morning pancakes, Saturday dinner Chinese.....ugh! Will just have to try to be very good inbetween the treats and not pig out. I am going to try to clean my kitchen tonight, so that will be some "working out".

My weight this morning was 179.4, so I am very pleased. However, I know that weight fluctuates so I can't put too much stock into numbers especially since I've been showing losses each day for the last few days. So I am taking this as victory to reaching the 170s by February, but with the full knowledge that I could hover around this weight even going back up over 180 at some point in the next week or so. I won't let fluctuations up get me discouraged as long as I continue to trend downward over time. I've taken a break from weight lifting right now while I do the yoga challenge so I am very aware that this sudden loss in a few pounds could be related to water weight. When I first started lifting again a few months ago I gained several pounds. Once I finish the challenge I will go back to weight lifting. So I might see another gain or a lack of loss. Hopefully by that time I will have lost several more pounds and I won't ever see the 180s again!!

I stepped on the scale this morning 3 times and got 3 different weights... All about 1 pound differences Honestly I'd rather see inches go than numbers change. I am doing weights, so hopefully that will happen! Sent from my HTC One_M8 using proboards

Well, I hit my first goal weight this week. I was shocked, I really thought it would take longer. I started the THM diet and feel so much better, and apparently the "junk" weight came off quickly. It's basically a low-fat OR low-carb diet. You can have either one, just keep 3 hours between them. I've not counted any calories at all, just didn't mix fats and carbs in the same meal. There's the 600 page book boiled down into a couple sentences It's pretty low-glycemic and I've made an effort to cut out sugar. Since I can still have pretty much anything else I want it doesn't seem like a diet at all. @patstab - just an idea, but maybe adding in some more good fats would help with the skin issue?

I use coconut oil on my face twice a day it is amazing for your skin.
Though I think she means things like olive oil, nuts, avocado, etc. heart healthy fats. they are great for your skin too.

Do you use the coconut oil under your makeup in the morning?
Yes... I use it as a moisturizer in the morning before I put on make up and at night after I take it off... As for where you lose it first, that depends on your body composition. I always lose in my bottom half first... Which sucks , because I love my body from the waist down! My face seems to be the last place to thin out. I know my pear shaped sister is the opposite, she has hips for days that never seem to shrink. But her top will disappear! Sent from my HTC One_M8 using proboards

BF and I both made our diet bets! I am down 7.8lbs and he is down about 11lbs! I haven't weighed since Thursday as I was at BFs and his scale is never on point with mine. I am sure I am up a little with being out of town and then superbowl (though we just stayed home together, so not the usual shmoregesborge). I am making a workout plan for February. Exercising for me was basically non-existent for January. I am lucky I made my diet bet.....but I missed my monthly goal by 2.3lbs. I need to stop using other things (driving to see BF, working OT, cleaning, sleeping, etc.) as excuses for not exercising. I have no kids, no pets, and only 1 job (though I do a lot of OT)....so there is no reason why I can't find time to get my butt moving. Still doing good on no pop and extremely limited sweets. Banker Gurl 185.0lbs (192.8lbs 1/1/15) = Down 7.8lbs Goal Weight = 140lbs

DH and I ate pretty well over the weekend. We had a flank steak that we ate with lightly sauteed spinach and a tomato salad. We haven't had flank steak in a long time, and DH grilled it even though it was cold and snowy out. I also made a recipe I saw on the chew the episode called Take Out Fake Out where they did healthier versions of take out. It was shrimp with lobster sauce, and it tasted great for about 200 cals per serving (plus cals for rice).
I've stuck with my yoga, just a few weeks to go in the challenge. I've also been drinking my smoothies each morning, but I changed the ratios to cut down on the plain yogurt and up the fruit. Today I will make squash and leek soup for lunch and dinner. Then I'll need to get to the store again. I'm heading out for a walk with DH and the dogs too even though it is very cold and I didn't feel like going outside.

The shingles is nearly gone. I'll see my doctor tomorrow and get treatment & weighed. Then on Friday I'm starting my dance routine. Goodbye extra pounds, hello lean mean me.
I've been eating salads with every dinner, so that's a start in the eating better routine.

Welcome MPL!!!
Don't be ashamed. I've struggled with my weight, but I have to get healthy and weight loss is going to be the by product of that. I'm exercising regularly and eating better, but I still have a long way to go!!! I'm learning more every day too.
Today we are grilling bone in chicken thighs marinated in lemon and thyme. I'll make a roasted broccoli to go with it. For lunch I will have some brown rice and leek and squash soup. Not sure about breakfast yet. I've been up for 2 hours and haven't eaten yet. It is cold so I think oatmeal with a banana and peanut butter mixed in and maybe some chia seeds too.
I didn't do a walk this morning because the real feel temperature was 11 degrees. I will be doing my yoga after I eat though.

I probably need to lose 20 pounds. It doesn't seem horrible, but I just don't know what to do. Well, I guess I do. Eat less and exercise. Seems simple enough, not sure what my issue is.
