Been sneaking in items on my NO-NO list ever since Thursday... A few buns on my cookout meals, a bite or two of cheese here, a cookie there. Ugh, and let me just say my sinuses are kicking up and my throat hurts. :-( time to clean things back up and keep my allergies in check.
I have blood work this week, my doctor is throwing in a food sensitivity panel. I am nervous about that. The 4 biggies I have cut out have been difficult enough, especially where breakfast is concerned.
I am actually just going to throw together a chicken and veggie soup to have for breakfast this week. Prepping some salads for the week as well.
Managed 10k plus steps everyday this week... Plan to keep up the streak and keep a minimum of 11k. Finally cleared for some weights! Still no pushups, but I hate that anyway. Weights and planks are on the agenda today!
Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!

I didn't get back on my bike until yesterday. It's been ugly outside and raining every day since last week and the forecast is still predicting rain over the next several days. I've been cranky almost every day, and decided to ride my bike yesterday anyway and take my chances getting rained on. It looked like a lot of people were sick of the rain and had the same idea I did, because it was walking/jogging/bike city on the trails. It didn't rain on me. There was a couple on the trail with their dog running beside them. I saw them coming toward me, but I didn't realize the dog wasn't on a leash until he ran over in my path and stopped and stared at me. I had to slam on my brakes to not run over him. I was staring at the couple and I'm sure my expression wasn't a friendly one. The guy called the dog over to his side. The lady was giving me an ugly look like I'd done something wrong. Really?! There are signs posted all over saying that dogs must be on a leash, per city ordinance x-x-x. A lot of people walk the trails with their dogs, but this was the first one I've seen that wasn't on a leash. I wasn't afraid he'd bite me, but I don't want to get hurt trying to avoid a dog with stupid owners. I saw them again a while later, the dog was still running along without a leash. Stupid, stupid, stupid. As well trained as my dogs were, I never took them anywhere in public without leashes. I'm suppose to meet my female friend on the trail at 8. There's a 40% chance of rain at 9. I'm not sure what to do. Again. lol

I got a free bike this weekend!! Neighbor gave it away. It needs new gear controls but we have a great local bike shop and it should take about $30 or so to get that fixed. And then we can go on family bike rides!! Now we just need to get a helmet for baby pumpkin head, lol.
I love all the step challenges on here! Keep up the great work!

@patstab, I get that. My whole life I thought I hated skirts. Until I lost 30 lbs. Then I realized I hated hose. Still hate hose but skirts are ok. Now if I could just lose 1"+ in my waist they'd be more comfortable
I'm sure that Marine guideline of 15 calories per pound is for someone more active then me

It's cloudy outside but we rode 13.7 miles. That's the longest she's rode so far. I kept telling her how far we'd gone since her MapMyRide app wasn't working and let her pick the turn around point, so it's not my fault she rode so far lol. She said she usually averages 8mph, so I did push her on speed some. She was appalled when I told her we were riding at 11mph, she'd been so busy talking she hadn't realized she was riding faster until I said something. So I told her I wouldn't tell her the speed anymore. I just kept asking if she was ok so we could slow down if it was too much for her to keep up. I feel great! And I will NOT ruin it by fooling with my yard today. Maybe tomorrow.

Been reading Physical magazine, it was at my Pharmacy.
It explains about body types for the Marine exercises for the various body types. It's for ROTC programs.
It explains that to maintain body weight you eat 15 calories per pound so to lose adjust accordingly.
I can eat 2550 to maintain my 170 and I must be eating more or I would lose, wish I could find my wonderful weight scale for food, its here somewhere. It weighs the quantity then computes the calories for that amount.
So for me to get to maintain 160 would be 2400 per day. And to lose its 3500 calories for a pound, so have to reduce from that over 500 calories per day, that's going to be touch.
It also explained how much protein, etc you needed.
I have about quit using sugar, I'm sweetening my tea with a tablespoon of honey and using honey on my morning oats
I even found some lard that smells sweet and fresh as the grocer and bought a pound.
I have added krill oil for omega 3, vitamin b12, and d3. Trying to help my skin and hair and after a few weeks my skin is not so itchy, I'm wondering about adding collagen formula for joint health. Have to check that out further.
Like it says sometimes weight is not the key factor, its your body fat amount and also the way your clothes fit, my 14's are to big around the waist but some of my 12's are tight around the hips I switch back and forth according to style and fit. I have bought some skorts that I like really well and now I've lost enough even bought a couple of jean skirts I like. They didn't feel comfortable before. 15 calories per pound to maintain?!?! bwahahahaha not a chance in hell I ever even come closed to that. at 202 I'd be eating over 3000 calories a day. I measure and track every thing I eat, and I am generally at 1200-1500 calories. I've seen what you post and unless you are eating HUGE portions or much more than you say you eat, you are not eating more than 2500 calories. Instead of subscribing to these random theories that you read about in a magazine, why don't you just sign up for something like Myfitnesspal and actually track your calories. Get some numbers down so you know what you are eating and then make a plan from there.

I'll need to get back to healthy food choices when I get home. I've been in Las Vegas and walking ten miles a day in 100+ temperatures so I haven't worried about. We hiked for two hours yesterday through Red Rock Canyon. Definitely do not get 25k steps a day with my desk job back home.

Definitely do not get 25k steps a day with my desk job back home. We are supposed to get desks that stand up by the end of the year. I wonder if they would noticed if I brought in a treadmill? lol! I seriously may get one of those stationary steppers though to keep me moving.

I tried to get one through HR, but they require all kinds of information from my doctor, even after my Dr. sent in a note saying that it would be of great benefit to me. They need to prove medical NEED. I want one so so so badly!

Even though I am management, I am in a "normal" cube so I get upgraded too They are expensive though. For ours it's about $1200 per cube piece (they only have to swap out one piece in the middle). I have seen people DIY it though. Just make a box tall enough and set it on top of your desk. Get a barstool to sit on when needed. I also bring in a yoga ball to sit on. It really helped keep my hips from locking up when I was pregnant. But they never vacuum the floors here and I was getting really grossed out by all the hair and dirt on it all the time. Blech!

Yoga balls are prohibited in my work place. GSA says they are a safety issue. One guy has a standing desk but he's a director. I can adjust my keyboard tray up but then I'm looking down or I have to adjust my monitors. It's always a pain to get them back perfect since I have dual monitors. I try to make up reasons to get up. I'll string out my printing so I have a reason to walk to the printer more. It's a good day if I get 5k steps at work. I'm dreading this week. I have days full of meetings.

Holiday weekend + sister and family visiting...well, I'm definitely eating more calories, but it's not the good kind!! I was off yesterday so I am out of my routine and I didn't meal plan for the week. Trying to get back on track today and make good choices.

Ran out of half and half so I had to put whipping cream in my coffee at lunch. The strange thing is I'd use a 1/4c of Half & half and only 1t whipping cream. So I'm figuring that I actually save calories by using whipping cream instead of half & half? Does that seem right?

I've fallen a little off the wagon this week. Got out of my routine so wasn't as careful about food choices and didn't go to the gym at all. But I'm going grocery shopping Saturday, to the gym Sunday, and will meal plan and cook some this weekend as well. Good steps.
Have a great weekend, all!

Blend some oats in your smoothie, great with some cinnamon!

My favorite overnight oats recipe - scoop protein powder, 1/2c Greek yogurt, 1/2c oats, 4oz almond milk, 1T chia seeds, *whatever flavor I want. Blend well and stick in the fridge up to 5 days. So good! With nearly 50g of protein and under 25g carbs it hold you for a long time and doesn't spike your blood sugar.
The more I read, the more I realize low-glycemic is the way to go. Carbs are OK but in moderation. Too much triggers an insulin , which !means you are storing those carbs as fat in order to protect your brain from a dangerous blood sugar spike. Counting calories is out for me. But I really aim to keep carbs under 45g per meal, even with cheats.

If you put oats in the smoothie, put them in raw. That is my recommendation.

I only rode my bike once last week. I wasn't feeling well. And it's HOT! It was 80 degrees this morning, before the sun even came up. It's suppose to be 98 and 99 degrees every day this week. I don't think riding my bike in those kinds of temps is a good idea. So now what am I suppose to do?

Get a stand to turn your bike into a stationary bike and point it at a window with a fan blowing on you so you can pretend you're riding outside?

I thought about something like that for when the weather doesn't cooperate. But I've put myself on restriction for buying anything else related to cycling for a while. So no stand for me right now. :-(

How my challenge going.
Steps are on pace. As of yesterday I was leading. Need to get ahead since I will be traveling a couple of the days and it might be difficult to get in my steps.
Water consumption up.
Now if I could get the eating under control there would be some weight movement in the right direction. At least weight is not going in the wrong direction.
Keep up the good work everyone and have a great week.

This weekend was full of cheat meals. And the scale shows it - 4lbs up this morning! YIKES! Granted, its probably quite a bit of bloating from salty foods, but still. I feel like crap too. Time to jump back on track. Did a big stock-up at Aldi yesterday to get us through this next week and a half.

Mondays always feel like a clean slate! After a not so great eating weekend, I've packed a healthy lunch and snacks and have dinner planned for the week. I just need to decide when I'm going to work out. Wednesday and Saturday for sure, but I should stick another work out in. If it ever stops raining we can go on walks with the kids again!
I haven't gotten on the scale lately, I probably will on Wednesday.
