You guys. I was GOOD for dinner tonight! DH promised DD a cheeseburger while we were out running errands. I passed up fast food and came home to eat 3 eggs and a bowl of strawberries. Instead of making deviled eggs I just cut them in half and topped with some spicy mustard - surprisingly very good.

Good job Sam. Wish I could still eat eggs, it would make for quick and easy dinners. I'm allergic to egg whites now. Damn pediatrician lied when he said I'd outgrow my allergies. Nope!! They got worse in fact.

They got worse in fact. Eggs trigger my allergies too... And they were something I was allergic to as a child as well... Eggs and dairy. I "grew out of them" ha! They make me miserable now. I miss eggs... They were such an Easy Easy thing. ? Sent from my HTC One_M8 using proboards

I pulled out some pants that had been pretty tight and uncomfortable... Fit with no problem! Nice and comfortable! I don't care what the scale says, but when my clothes start fitting better and things get baggy or too big... Now THAT makes me happy!!!

I get ravenous after shakes if I don't have protein in them because all the sugars from the fruit & veggies spike up my blood sugar. Protein helps temper that. So that's why!! Must also be why Greek yogurt satisfies but cottage cheese doesn't. Learn something new everyday!

You need that fat and protein combo to help keep you full. plus, the low fat stuff has less protein/more carbs, because they have removed fat and replaced it with sugar.

I noticed I felt better after switching back to the full fat cottage cheese (the red container, if you're getting Hood ) from the low-fat. it just wasn't filling enough. I didn't realize there was sugar added, though.....that explains even more - I always felt a little off later on, too.

I made it to the gym yesterday! It felt great. I did a round of weight training, then about 15 minutes on the elliptical. Overall, I ate reasonably yesterday, so I feel good about that.
Today's food plan:
Breakfast: iced coffee and 2 sausage patties Snacks : carrots and dip, apples, grapes, crackers and peanut butter Lunch: PBJ and a snack Dinner:Eggs
My main goal was to get under 220 by July 1st. I really hope I can do it!! I've got 5 days.

I don't think they necessarily add sugar in, check the ingredients to see. But milk itself has quite a bit of sugar/lactose. The more skim the milk the higher the overall percentage of sugar in it. So whole milk would be preferable to skim.

You can check the labels of pretty much any Low Fat/fat free item, and they are all higher in sugar/carbs.

Ugh...ate way too much for dinner last night. Went to friends' house. It was great, but the caloric intake effects are lovely this morning. Sigh.

I fit into my blue dress today! The dressy sheath. NEVER thought it would zip up but it did. Now I don't have to buy a new one for the formal night on the ship. I obviously have a stomach but the cruise isn't until 7/12/15

But often they will!! Reading labels is pretty interesting! They've got all kinds of ways to sneak sugar in stuff. I was eating dry roasted peanuts - yep, added sugar in them!! But cocktail peanuts don't have that.

I just blew it. Fit into the dress this morning and 2 weeks to go until I need to wear it. So we went out and bought tops for the cruise. Then went to Veggie Grill for dinner. I only ate some of GD1s nachos (just a few) & fried cauliflower. .... but came home & ate a chocolate pudding.
Tomorrow is another day

Then you can start over next time throw some protein in there to offset the carbs.

I've gone back up in weight. I've really got to commit to tracking calories. The three brownies yesterday were probably not helpful. As of June 25 | Actual | June Goal |

I'm actually beginning to enjoy this new diet. At the buffet luncheon today, I only got cheese, fruit, and veggies. There was a lot of chocolate on the tables and 1 satisfied. Passed up the soda & all but 1 cookie too. Before I would have had the cookies, ice cream, bagels, kugel, blintzes with sour cream. It probably helped that I had a breakfast bar & coffee 3 hrs earlier. But no kugel, blintzes, or anything really heavy Here's my standard: ♤ breakfast: coffee with real cream, breakfast bar ♡ lunch: raw veggies, fresh fruit, something protein (cheese, egg) ◇ dinner: veggie burger or soy or tofu, fruit, veggies, potatoes all in some fashion ♧ snack: whipped yogurt that's been frozen

Today I hopped on the scale and was down to a weight I haven't seen in probably 7 years. It is nice... However, I am certainly not as thin as I was at this weight before. I intended to take measurements this morning but totally forgot. I will set a reminder to do it in the morning. I really want to lose INCHES and gain some muscle. I am still limited in what I can do weight training, wise...
Hoping the chiro will clear me this week or next. Until then, walking, jogging, core work and yoga.
Now that the new place is mostly organized, I feel I actually have some time!

I'd love to encourage you along @patstab, but I am not as far along on this as you. But I remember from my weight watchers leaders days that it's 1 step forward 1/2 step back

I'm starting to think about July goals. There will most be some version of a tracking calories goal.

Giant pot of minestrone on the stove right now... Dinner tonight and a few lunches this week. Picked up some great snacks for the week, some different kinds of hummus and veggies.
Trying to get back to successful menu planning... Now that we are all settled.
In the last few weeks I have noticed that I really can't eat much anymore. Not that I really put away a lot before, but I get full really fast now, especially if it is a splurge day and I have any bread. I feel STUFFED with just. A small portion. I was bummed this morning when I had my once a week splurge and allowed those off the table items (eggs, dairy, flour sugar) at brunch. I had one bite of a cinnamon roll that was ordered for the table, oh so sweet!!! I had Chicken and a biscuit, and had about half of a large biscuit, a small piece of chicken and a little sausage gravy. I had, maybe 1/3 of my meal. It made a friend very very happy because he took the rest home with him for dinner lol
Hope everyone had a good weekend! Let's get ready for another week!!!!

love that, sarcasticgirl. I thought about making a big pot of tortellini soup today, it was cold on the overnight while I was awake (long story), but I knew I still had Cobb fixins and a potentially tumultuous week at work ahead of me.....and my roommate seems to hate leftovers that he doesn't produce, either by his own cooking or via takeout/restaurant leftovers. this week is still supposed to be shitty, I may end up making soup anyway in a couple days. it's pretty much just various veggies, chicken if I have some (I do right now) and some tortellini in a homemade chicken broth, so yah.....not awful, not pricey, and totally comfort food.

I cooked some salmon in my oven tonight because I didn't feel like fooling with my grill. Well, the truth is that when I was trimming the grass around my patio last week about a hundred (more like 4 or 5) spiders ran up on my patio when I hit a particular spot and I'm skeert to go out there until I spray my yard, which I haven't gotten around to. The worst part was my patio is pebbled and I couldn't see the spiders unless they moved. And they weren't tiny. Do spiders nest? Ugh! Anyway, I should stick to grilling salmon. It tastes much better.
I finally rode my bike again yesterday. My friend agreed to try 12 miles then he kept going to 13. I guess those few days not riding made a difference, it took a minute for my legs to get together yesterday. I had some things on my mind all day yesterday and I felt so much better after my ride. It really does seem to help me relieve some stress and relax.
I'm planning on going early in the morning tomorrow. I really wish there was somewhere peaceful to ride closer to my house.
Keep plugging along y'all. This healthier lifestyle thing isn't always easy, but we can do it!

I did my grocery shopping yesterday and have a few new foods to try. This morning was my first try of overnight oats! I followed your guidelines Sam_2.0 and they were pretty good! Oats, milk, Greek yogurt, protein powder and unsweetened cocoa powder. The best news is that I am still full! Usually I am already hungry by the time I get to work and need a little snack. I wonder how long it will last - I will keep you guys updated! Today's meal plan: Breakfast: overnight oats, coffee and cream Lunch: turkey sandwich and apple Available snacks: carrots with sour cream dip, babybel cheese, 1/2 peanut butter sandwich Dinner: leftover spaghetti and meat sauce I am feeling a little disheartened - I popped on the scale this morning and after a week of reasonable (not perfect, but reasonable!) eating and two days of exercise - I was up almost a pound. I didn't even eat horribly this weekend...I hope the scale shows something better by Wednesday...

There was no rain in the forecast today, but my female friend (the one with the new bike) texted me at 6 something this morning and said it was raining out her way. She lives closer to the trail than I do, and she wanted to go. She hasn't been going to the trails much, but she's been riding on the streets near her house almost every day. She said people honk their car horns at her and give her a thumbs up sometimes. Awesome! She's braver than i am, but we also live in different parts of the city. I'm glad she's still riding regularly and enjoying it.
Now it's cloudy by my house and the forecast says there's a chance it will rain some more today.
Our weather forecasts have really been hit or miss these last couple of months, mostly miss. They say it's going to rain cats and dogs and the sun shines all day. They say it's not going to rain and it pours.
I really want to ride today, but I'm not thrilled about the possibility of getting rained on.

I will get the basement and yard sprayed for spiders, they spray 20 feet out from the house. So far the stuff must still be helping from last year as I have seen hardly any. Year before it was big spider heaven. But with all this rain I know they are growing out there somewhere. Last week when dog went to groomer I bombed the basement. Killed lady bugs, flies, and a few spiders, one large. But where there is 1 there are many more, I hate those things. I will do that ever couple weeks till I can get it sprayed. It rained again yesterday and I couldn't get the whole lawn mowed again.
Anyway at 170 this morning, that equates to 26 BMI which is still in the overweight category. Below 25 is in the normal range but just barely. That shows at 168, but I still want to get to 160 at least, a tough row for me to hoe. Going to have to amp up my physical activity. I can work out but just being outside working helps me much easier.
To be in the middle of normal at 22 BMI I would have to weigh 148, I don't see that ever happening unless I got sick.
Have you had your BMI calculated by your doctor or are you just going by that standard chart that is supposed to be a 1 size fits all? If you are basing your "goal" on that chart, I'd be sure to check it with a doctor. My number on the chart is very different than the number my doctor has because I have quite a bit of muscle, which makes me heavier and smaller in size than most people my weight. the generic BMI calculator doesn't take your build into consideration whatsoever. Though I think we're all smart enough to know, you can have two people that are the same height and same weight and look completely different, be totally different sizes and have completely different fitness levels. and of course, they actually have two completely different BMIs.
