@pinkcshmere are there any kids in the neighborhood you can pay to do your lawn? It is summer, they have nothing better to do, right? That's what my parents do when they are too busy or when it gets too miserable out.
Be sure and keep hydrated!!!!!
Last year some boys came by a few times and asked if they could cut my grass. I let them a couple of times. I don't know where they are this summer. Most of my neighbors seem to either have small kids or adult children.
I'm drinking plenty of water, but thanks for the reminder. I'm already back inside for another break since my last post lol. I'm finished with the mowing, which is the most important (and easiest imo) part.
I've mowed a couple of times in the past month, Pink. You have my sympathies. We have a teeny tiny yard and it still takes me forever. Thankful for the self-propelled mower to get up those inclines.
I guess all the weeks of eating better have finally paid off. I weighed myself for the first time in a couple weeks. Finally down 2 pounds. Definitely want to lose more but the scale finally budged. Work and trying to keep up with chores at home is taking up all my time so maybe I'll have more time for workouts soon.
It's definitely related to injuries but I'm hoping if I make my goal it might cut down on my back and neck pain.

Thank goodness for my condo. I can't get down with yard work lol
I did that growing up in Houston and I remember my parents getting me up at 7am to get on the lawnmower before "it gets too hot" because at 7am.. it was only 90 degrees, it hadn't hit 98 with 98% humidity. we had a riding lawnmower and multiple acres, it would still take me a couple of hours, I'd be drenched with sweat, 2 shades darker with my tan and covered in dirt and grime.
haven't checked in for a few days, oops... I'm still hovering in that 5lb range, I need to get out on the bike more to get that scale moving again! I did walk all over Oak Bluffs (MV) on Saturday, that definitely helped.
I have cleaned up my eating habits a little bit lately, last night was pretty healthy - grilled swordfish, an ear of corn (w/fresh cracked pepper, no butter - YUM!) and a green salad. tonight's going to be Cobb salads, and I'll prep enough veggies to make it easy to throw together another tomorrow night since I'll be home late from pup training.
I've never actually liked doing it, but I use to not mind yard work so much because I liked the finished product. Then my son got me spoiled by taking over the yard work and now that he's moved to another state, I'm struggling to get back in the groove.
All last summer, I paid to have it done. I didn't expect much when I paid those boys to cut it, but I had some regular guys that I used and I was never quite satisfied with their work. The first time it got cut this year, I paid a guy $100. I thought it was way too much and even he didn't do a satisfactory job. So I decided to just do it myself so it'll be how I want it and spend those hundreds of dollars on something else. Like maybe a bike and gear/accessories!
I had a panicky moment when I remembered I'd loaned my hedge trimmer to my brother and it was broke when I got it back. I didn't remember replacing it. But guess what was in my shed! A shiny new hedge trimmer sitting next to the old one. I guess I did buy another one lol. I wasn't even sure how to operate my blower, I'd never used it either. At least I always had the right tools around when my son was spoiling me lol.
So now I'm on the hedges. I'd forgotten how much easier it is with electric trimmers. But it's making my hands hurt something terrible. So more breaks! LOL!
I have terrible allergies too wvugurl. Motrin, Zyrtec, Mucinex, nasal spray and water are my friends today. I've never planted flowers. I just have grass and these darn bushes.
I wrestled the trimmer into submission and I'm done with the trimming and edging. I must remember to never buy a Ryobi trimmer again. My cheap Weedeater brand trimmer was much easier for me to use. About 700 more bushes to go (seems like it anyway), then clean up the walkways and driveway, and I'll be done.
Please excuse all my rambling about my yard. Let's blame my rambling on the heat, shall we?
We're on a half acre, and I found a kid in the neighborhood who said he would mow and trim for $30. I told him I wouldn't hold him to that dollar amount if he did it and realized he needed more!
I need to get on the bandwagon here. I need to lose 15 - 20 pounds before our next IVF. I wanted to try for September, but am thinking of pushing it off until November.
I am going to start jogging again. I got a Fitbit HR, and am tracking everything I eat. It's so hard to not stress eat, but I have been doing better.
I used to hate diet sodas. But since cutting out sugar, I can actually stand them now. I still don't buy them for home but I will have one when we go out sometimes. I prefer coke zero (splenda) vs diet coke (aspartame). But neither one bother me now like they used to. Seems odd.
I've been good with keeping busy & no snacking today. Drinking my tea, ate my salad, and still have my yogurt for this afternoon when I need a snack. Tonight is nephew's birthday & sis is throwing him a pizza party. I need to decide if I am going to indulge or eat before we go and just let the kiddos have pizza. Baby is sick anyway and will just want me to hold him the whole time, so good excuse not to eat there. I won't really get a chance to anyway.
I didn't do anything else but sit on my butt yesterday and last night. My friend tried to get me to go out to eat with him, but as much as I love to eat, food couldn't even motivate me to move.
I forgot to tell you all something about our ride Monday morning. We had to get off the trail with our bikes for a few minutes because one of the trucks the people that maintain the trails drive was coming through. This guy rode up on a bicycle while we were waiting and started to chit chat. Before he rode off, he told me "I'm a trainer. You look pretty fit. Keep up the good work.". And he went on about his business. I don't know what kind of trainer he's suppose to be, but it was a nice random compliment and it made me smile.
I don't know if I should ride my bike today or not after yesterday. But I only have today and tomorrow before it's suppose to start raining again for a couple days. Decisions, decisions.
Good morning! I weighed in this morning - 222.2 Not great, but after a long weekend vacation, I think it's okay. I am feeling very motivated again and am headed to the gym today. I need to get to the grocery store so I have good meals and snacks on hand, but that won't happen till this weekend.
Today's food plan:
breakfast: small cup iced coffee 2 sausage patties strawberry cereal bar coffee with cream
lunch: peanut butter sandwich salad possible snacks: apple, grapes, carrots with dip, Greek yogurt, crackers with peanut butter
I'm making DD help me pick up all these limbs tomorrow, she is having a fit. I told her Stuff it we will deal with it tomorrow.
I have the big ones up, she just needs to help with the small ones. She needs to be outside and doing something, my fault she
isn't. I said you need to help me weed, she won't last 10 minutes she can't stand a bug getting on her.
I have to take kitty to the vet tomorrow afternoon. Hate to sweat the hair out. Found some firm gel that is doing better.
I lose weight when working outside. I am trying not to hate the yard or I will dread each time I have to mow. It's huge,
but we have good equipment to do it with. 2 Scag mowers, a Stihl weed eater and blower, plus a weed eater with a metal cutting
blade. Also a 55 inch cut Kubota and small wagon to take around the lawn. And a new pull behind fertilizer spreader. The
right equipment makes it easier.
I'm with her on the bugs. I will literally run from a bug. I always wear long pants when I work in my yard and I stuff the bottom of my pants inside my long socks in the hopes that if a bug does crawl up my leg, it'll be outside my pants leg and not under. I don't care if I look like a nut.
And of course there are lots of bugs on the creepy trail because it's in a wooded area. Trying to not give bugs a chance to get on me motivates me to keep moving. I swear, between trying to outrun bugs, flinching and swatting when they get near me and watching out for nonexistent bears, it's a wonder I even manage to stay on my bike.
Actually mosquitoes rarely bite me. I don't know why, but I'm not mad about it. It's just that spiders and most other bugs creep me out. If I can remember I'll mention Buggins' to DD. Mosquitoes love her.
I'm having a vegetable/fruit smoothie. It's not breakfast. Smoothies aren't meal replacements for me. I still want some food after having a smoothie.

Throw a scoop of protein powder in there Piping Rock has a great whey isolate that is not flavored. Or add in some greek yogurt or cottage cheese for protein. I get ravenous after shakes if I don't have protein in them because all the sugars from the fruit & veggies spike up my blood sugar. Protein helps temper that.
sarcasticgirl - what about pea protein? I see that as an option in the supplements aisle and I've been curious to try it. Does whey protein trigger your allergies too? For some it does, others seem to be ok with it even though it's a milk product.

When I was working, I generally had a greek yogurt for lunch.
I hate bugs touching me. If they mind their business, I'll mind mine. Literally ten minutes ago, I found a bug on me. While in my house. I took this to prove to my family who wouldn't believe me
I'm the one who gets the bug bites. They last for ever on me--two to three weeks.
PinkCashmere, I think you should ride today. You don't have to go fast-just stretch out.

I actually have a supplemental powder with pea protein that I got from my chiro, i just hate how it tastes. I need to play around with it and come up with a concoction that I can handle. I still have problems with whey.
You need protein to help you feel like you are full. I am lazy especially on work mornings so I just eat a Chobani.
I eat Chobani. I'm lazy on work mornings too and thought if I put some granola in my Chobani that would be a decent quick breakfast. Uh, no. I'd still eat everything in my lunchbag before 10am.
Some mornings I'll cook some spinach and 2 eggs in olive oil, sprinkle it with parmesan cheese and eat it with a couple slices of turkey. I'll still start digging around in my lunch bag an hour or so after I get to work, but at least I won't eat everything in there well before I go to lunch.
I was starving today. I realized I didn't eat enough yesterday. I inhaled my lunch.
I'm finally back into the drinking water groove. I get lax in the winter because I'm always so damn cold. I drank my whole Nalgene bottles yesterday and am on track to do it again today. Between winter and days with too many meetings I haven't been drinking enough.
Knee Deep in Water Chloe, I did ride in my neighborhood. For about 15 minutes lol. My legs, arms and back weren't happy so I decided to let 'em rest some more so they won't make me unhappy. I'm glad I didn't drive to a trail for what turned out to be a really short ride.
Still on track for today! Even though someone brought in fresh baked soft pretzels...I love soft pretzels!!! But WILLPOWER!!!
I'm only tempted by Philly ones. The guy who used to bring them to my office retired though. He used to be here weekly when I first started. They ruined me fit any other ones. Auntie Anne's tastes like garbage now.

I have a great recipe for homemade pretzel bites... they are AMAZING but so much work. Luckily that means they get made about twice a year.
