I'm putting together a piece of exercise equipment that I bought, getting it together is an exercise just by itself.

Made overnight oats for my breakfasts this week. I have to leave early to be downtown for testing at work. So i mixed up: 1/2c old fashioned oats, 1/2c greek yogurt, 1 scoop chocolate protein powder, 1T chia seeds, 4oz almond milk, and 4oz coffee. Its delicious! I just drink it on the way to work. Has nearly 50g protein, 26 net carbs, and 6g fat. Fits perfectly into one of my low-fat healthy carb meals and keeps me full for 3+ hours, which I need for my work schedule.

I've been MIA a bit. About 2 weeks ago my little dog got hurt while we were out hiking. She got away from DH, jumped into a pin with horses, and chased them around and around. DH had to climb the fence to go in and get her, but before he could one of the horses stepped on her. She broke her hip, and we had to have in implant and screws put in. She got her stitches out today, but we have 3 weeks left where she can't run, jump, or use the stairs. Now that the stitches are out I can get back to a somewhat regular routine, but we are down to one car and so far it has been difficult for me to do everything I want because DH's schedule is erratic right now.

had a little surprise this morning when running up the stairs to my desk at the office - I either need a belt for my skinny jeans, or I need to start throwing them in the dryer when I wash them. at the very least, I can't clip my key carabiner to a belt loop today, or my pants are coming down. I know, this is a good problem to have.....but it's still a PITA. lol.... maybe this week, I'll head in to Old Navy and try on the next size down. on the way up, I didn't buy much in that size b/c I was in denial that I was getting heavier. I'll need some stuff to wear until I get down one more to where I should be.

chiver78: YAY for having to shop for a size smaller! I've been stuck at my current size for awhile so I really hope you enjoy picking out new, smaller pants!!
Sam_2.0: That smoothie/breakfast drink sounds awesome. Especially if it keeps you full for 3 hours! I've never had much luck with smoothies keeping me full. I'll have to try your recipe!
Well, the sunshine has fooled me into thinking it's going to be warm soon, which then gave me the bright idea that I should sign up for a race this summer. A half marathon-EEK! It's been over a year since I've raced that distance, and I definitely slacked on anything resembling training this winter. And, we are going out for pizza tonight. Good thing I have 4 months to prepare! I hope that having paid money (LOTS OF MONEY) will help me stick with the training plan. Because after taking it easy all winter, using the weather as an excuse, I'm a bit nervous about what training actually entails!

Cheated and had pizza today since they brought in lunch at work. Now bloated and i look 6m pregnant. It hurts so bad. So not worth having pizza. Ever. I should have stuck with just the salad or at least scraped the toppings off and pitched the crusts. Damn clean eating diet. Problem is i cant even occasionally enjoy junk i guess. I will just have to drink more wine to make up for it

Mmmmmmmmm.....pizza.... Week #8 Down 1 pound. 13/23 pounds lost 8/23 weeks. I'm down to about where I was last July when I decided it was too hot and I was too stressed to keep going. Hopefully this year I keep it up.

I'm just hanging at the same weight and likely will till I can add exercise. Need to drink more water too. I tried on the shorts, they are 10's, I can wear them but I don't want to be that bulgy on the thighs, I see gals doing that but I want my clothes to fit smoothly and not show the bulges from clothes being to tight. I can't believe I could wear them though. I don't ever remember getting a 10 on. Awesome non-scale victory, Pat!! This is why measurements are so important too. As muscle builds, it is more condensed than fat. So the scale may stall but you are still losing inches. Once those new muscles ramp up your metabolism the fat can start to go again. Eat more food!!

My ultimate goal is to get back into all the shorts I used to wear pre-second kid. I don't know if it's possible or if my hips and butt are permanently altered, but that would be huge if it happened.
I think I'd need to lose more weight than my 23 pounds in 23 weeks though, but that's what I'm starting with. If (I mean WHEN) I reach that, I'm treating myself to a White Russian made with real whipping cream (maybe two or three!) and then reassessing the situation which will probably mean a new goal.

It was 82 degrees out today when I got home and I couldn't bring myself to put on any of the shorts I was wearing last year (don't ask). BUT..I got into a pair of my old shorts! I was shocked. They're still a little too tight, but wearable. I couldn't get them up past thigh level this winter. There IS hope I can wear them comfortably this summer!

This sounds sooooo good. I desperately miss Greek yogurt. It made mornings so easy! Sent from my HTC One_M8 using proboards Why did you stop eating greek yogurt? Dairy allergies. During the spring when my allergies are horrible I have to cut out dairy pretty much completely to try and keep things under control. I cut out grains for gut health to help with the allergies too. It blows because I am a hardcore cheese lover. Cheese and wine = my favorite dinner! Sent from my HTC One_M8 using proboards

Makes sense. I have noticed this spring hasn't been as bad since i strictly cut out all sugars (incl the natural ones too). And most grains. I would die if i had to cut dairy too! I live on greek yogurt. I have 2-3 cups per day!

Sorry to hear about your dog. That sounds painful...and expensive. So far it has cost about 1650, and there will be at least one more visit for a final set of xrays in 3 months and the possibility of physical therapy if she doesn't stop hopping all the time. She only got 5 days of pain meds even though the surgeon said she thought she would be in more pain. When I went back to our regular vet to get her stitches out I told her she is in pain, but they wouldn't give more meds. Germans are very different than Americans in this aspect, both for humans and animals. So since the pain meds stopped she's started hopping instead of walking normally, but she is staying still a bit more which is easier for me. She is a hardy little dog- even though she's half chihuahua she's 20 pounds so she is normally a sturdy little thing. I got to the gym to do cardio yesterday and today I will do some weights. The cardio made me really tired so I am trying to ease back into things.

Had it daily, baked with it, etc. Don't even get me started on my cheese drawer. I'd give my arm for giant wedge of an 18 month manchego. Seriously. I cut out sugar too... I eat a lot of greek yogurt too. I don't know if that's good or bad because I get the 2% milkfat Yoplait ones...maybe not the most healthy, but I like them. I usually have 2 cups a day, but sometimes 3. I buy it by the case from Sam's Club.

I don't like regular yogurt anymore now that I got used to the greek stuff. Regular just seems runny and too sweet.

The scale moved...
UP
And not in that "building healthy muscle" type of way.
Time for real action. I have been slacking seriously. Exhausted and stressed and not planning and being organized for my meals. That is done. I must take the time because I feel miserable and even more stressed when I don't.

@patstab - not sure how you feel about beans, but this is one of my winter staples - about 100 cal/1c serving as the recipe is written. Biggest Loser - Broke Bean StewI use all black beans and kale for my greens. instead of pureeing stuff prior to cooking, I put everything in whole and take an immersion blender to the pot just before dropping in the kale to wilt. oh, and homemade chicken stock. I'm biased, but I my stock. if I know my dairy-free sis isn't having any of this, I'll put a parmesan rind in during cooking. top with some freshly grated parm/grana padano and serve with crusty bread. now I want some. lol... this makes a huge batch, and I don't have freezer space right now. we're doing up a full turkey dinner on Sunday, which will have leftovers too. oh well... maybe in a few weeks.

sarcasticgirl - the scale moved up a little for me this morning, too. back up to 194 and change. that's okay, I had a hearty dinner last night for a change, it'll all work out in the end. just keep taking things one day at a time and making healthy choices every time you can. don't beat yourself up too much!

All my Bandolino jeans are beginning to bag on me. I'm thinking I might go to Dillards tomorrow to see if they have any slim leg light weight summer pants so I can stop wearing the ones I have.

Have a pot of minestrone simmering for this week's lunch. I have been slacking on my veggie intake lately and this will certainly help. This week's menu is in the works so that we are organized and everything doesn't go out the window when I have to work late. Starting a core workout/ lower body workout tonight as well as 10k+ steps a day. I haven't been getting all my water in, which is odd for me... So that is priority as well!

Goals for the week
1. 10,000 steps per day 2. Average water intake 24 ounces 3. More vegetables less sweets.
Have not been good at any one of these goals.
Weight has been creeping higher and higher each week.
Need to get back on the better path.
Better quit reading and start stepping

A lot of ham, wine and chocolate this weekend. I HATE my job and hate working, but the one good thing it does is keeps me on a schedule, so back to the grind.

I just put on a pair of micro fiber elastic waistband pants from last year, the waist is fine, but the thighs and butt look like they are 2-3 sizes to big. I did shop a little over the weekend, but came home empty handed. Too many of the pants are the new ankle length. I have a 27" inseam so it makes that style look really weird. The normal length all need to be shorted (and I hate doing pants). Guess I'll go back and try on more petite pants that have an elastic waist rather than a belted one, I think that might work.
