So glad to know that the gain i posted about on friday, was due to not drinking enough water. I drank green tea and water all day yesterday and steered clear of too much salt and today I'm down 3 pounds from Friday. I feel better physically, not being so bloated. I know that less than 8 cups of water a day is just not an option for me. I normally don't have an issue, but I'm going to be more mindful and track my water for a while to make sure I am back on target.

Eating sugar/grain free means I can have that piece of leftover cake for breakfast YUM! Had it with a peanut butter shake (pb powder, protein powder, 10oz almond milk). Get to work and realized I left my wallet at home, so no lunch out for me. I am at our downtown office too so I don't have my normal lunch stash. Hoping to get some things done and then get back to the other office this afternoon, so I can have some tuna or soup then.

Goals for the week 1. 10,000 steps per day 2. Average water intake 24 ounces 3. More vegetables less sweets. Have not been good at any one of these goals. Weight has been creeping higher and higher each week. Need to get back on the better path. Better quit reading and start stepping Two things have been helping me a lot. Scheduling a couple walk times every day (mine are at lunch at work and after younger son goes to sleep when older watches him). I just make myself go on these two walks and sometimes I tell myself I'll just go for a bit, but once I'm out there 90% of the time I keep going. With the water. FLAVOR PACKS. I have all but given up on being able to get into water plain unless I'm really thirsty, but put something in it and I can down a 32 ounce container in an hour or two at my desk. I still suck at drinking water, but the flavoring helps so much.

I like to have cucumber slices in my water to give it some flavor.

So since 3/31 I went from 199.0 to 190.4...super happy with how good I have been doing on my food! On 4/1 I did the fitness test for the P90X3. That went ok, the only thing I can't do are pullups. #1 - I don't have a pull up bar. #2 - I have never, cannot, will never be able to do a pullup....lol. How would my noodle arms life almost 200lbs straight up in the air?? Other then that I was able to do the fitness test. But the next day..... The day I decided to do P90X, I noticed my neck was feeling extremely sore, and I did not know why. I thought I had just slept on it wrong and it would feel better the next day. I did the workout anyways as it just seemed sore. The actual workout went well, other than I couldn’t do a few of the exercises due to the soreness in my neck. When I was done I sat and rested for about an hr, when I stood up, my neck felt extremely painful, and I couldn’t move it to my left side at all. I then started having extremely painful muscle spasms right where my neck meets my shoulder. I have never had a muscle spasm before and it was very painful and scary! I called my mother who is a nurse and she advised me to take a hot shower to try to get the muscles to loosen up. I took a shower and I actually felt my neck and shoulder “release” from each other. I then stopped having muscle spasms in my shoulder area, and started having them on the back of my neck. They were horrible and painful and very scary as my whole neck was locking up as that was happening. I then laid down with a heat pack on my neck, but had muscle spasms from about 7pm till 5am. The muscle spasms had stopped by morning, but I hadn’t been able to get any sleep, and my neck was still in extreme pain and I couldn’t find any way to lay that would alleviate the pain. I wasn’t able to go to work due to the pain, and luckily I was able to get into a chiro that day. He took xrays and told me my neck had a reversed curvature, so it is curving the opposite direction that it is supposed to curve. He was not sure how that happened, but that it would most likely have been the result of a long term issue. He popped my back in 2 places, and also my neck in 2 places. After that I felt progressively better all weekend. I go back to the chiro again today and hopefully we can move forward on the exercising soon. For now I will just have to be mindful of my eating, and can go for walks, but P90X is out for at least a little while. I was very proud of myself with Easter. I said NO to the buns, no potatoes, no cream corn, no noodles, and no dessert. I said YES to water, salad with strawberries, grapes and radishes in it, fruit bowl of strawberries and grapes, fresh veggies, and very small portions of other items like ham, sweet and sour pork with rice, but stayed away from the starchy carb items and high sugar items as much as possible.

yikes bankergurl on the neck pain! my neck also curved in the completely wrong direction and I worked with a chiro for about 6 months on that and some other back issues. I actually had to do traction for my neck, which I HATED, but it helped. Good luck, and I hope you are feeling better soon!!!

I had my primary Dr. appt. today. Lab work was all outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!! Funny how a small change in diet can make such a big difference. Dr. said to keep doing what I'm doing, she was really happy!
Then, I went shopping and tried on again the pants I didn't buy Saturday. I could even get into the size 14, but opted to by the size 16 petite. Can't wait to wear them!!!!
Then, for the excitement of the day: Had a letter in the mail from a company called Asset Trust Recovery Corp. Huh? just who is trying to recover my assets I laughed. Well, it turned out they were wanting to give me money. oh really>>>>>>> I didn't just fall off the turnip truck. I did a search for them, real company lousy reviews etc. But I did recognize the name of the company that supposedly had turned over unclaimed assets for me. It's called travelzoo.com. When they first started in business back in 2000 or so, anyone who registered received 5 free shares of their stock. I carried that piece of paper around with me for years, along with 6 different addresses. How likely is this? So, I went to State of Florida Unclaimed Property Bureau and entered my name, which is as common as "john Smith". There were over 10 pages of my name, and my name and old address was on page 2. I have filled out the paperwork, and have the info ready to be sent. The Asset company wanted $28 to do this for me, instead, the state is giving me my money back for free, all $142 of it. The hardest part was finding a piece of paper that proved we could prove we lived at the original address. I found closing documents from when we sold our house in 2002. Yea ME!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay for found money Blond Granny! My ex and I went to the state site once to see if we had any coming and he did (all it said was over $100 but not the exact amount). It was from a utility company, so probably not much more than that. Well...months of trying to dig up something to prove he lived at that address some 10 years earlier when he moved constantly back then proved impossible and we never did get to claim it.

Week 9 - No change. A little disappointing, but not a huge surprise considering I was home with a sick kid a couple days last week and the holiday weekend.
13/23 pounds lost. 9/23 weeks down

I am feeling much better, I found some stuff called Colon Cleanse, have been taking a tab the last 3 days, was beginning to think it wasn't going to help. Well today I finally started getting relief. It's supposed to be a natural product, I think I will continue with 1 a day for about a month and see if it continues to help. I don't like taking something like that but I really think I have IBS. Sometimes extreme urgency, sometimes can't go as now for days. No norm here.
I just know I feel great, whew! I know my issues with that stopped when I cut out white flour and sugar. Maybe give it a try?

so I stopped at Panera while out running errands over lunch. I got a full "classic salad" with chicken, and they screwed up and poured the balsamic right on the salad (thankfully not drowning it, I would have complained about that....that's why I asked for the dressing on the side!!) with a french baguette as the side. the nutrition calculator on panera.com says that adds up to only 480 calories. is that right...? seems low to me.

chiver78 what else is on the salad? Today is a particularly horrible day at work. I have this huge desire to go stuff my face with something supremely decadent and super unhealthy. Stress eating. The girls are going out for burgers and cocktails, and I decided to back out and instead have changed into yoga pants and a running hoodie and am heading out for a few miles. Then I'll come back to my minestrone and fruit w/ chocolate hazelnut spread. This job has been making me so miserable lately, I am DONE letting it make me FAT!

mixed greens, cuke, tomato, red onion. but dressing is calorie-heavy, and so is the bread. idk.... I know I didn't get the cheese-loaded Caesar or the one with candied walnuts, but still. that just seems light to me.

chiver78 - sounds right to me. Hope you enjoyed it! Potluck taco bar at work today. I was the weirdo that brought low-carb tortillas. And then piled them high with all the yummy stuff My belly is full and it's time for a nap. I wish.

Last year we lost 2 people and for a year we have been told "as soon as" in regards to hiring more. Currently, someone is out on FMLA and another missed last week due to a dying family member and has this week off. So for two weeks, we have been a team of 4. Luckily it is the 4 most competent members. We have some shady upper management at the moment, who are useless and apparently conniving! Sent from my HTC One_M8 using proboards

I've been struggling the past week. The weather has been cold and rainy, kids have been sick and today I have a migraine. I have meds that will take care of it, but they make me cold and kind of unmotivated and blah. One of the account managers brought doughnuts in today and I am really having to fight not getting one. I keep thinking how much better it will make me feel to have one of them. My step count has dropped way down too. Still staying above goal consistently, but definitely trending down from where I was.

Me too, me too.....and the scale showed it this AM. I was so focused on getting more weight off for my Dr. appt. this past Monday, and I did, that I just slide right back into some bad decisions Tuesday and Wednesday. Not going to beat myself up over it, but I need a little more discipline and better choices.

I weighed on my tiny motorhome scales yesterday and inside today and they are consistent.
I AM THRILLED, THRILLED, THRILLED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TADA!!!!
My weight this morning is 173.5, have I finally got over that plateau, just maybe so.
I'm going to put down 174 on my profile, I'm hoping that it holds, if not you will see the change on my profile. Hope it holds. I know you won't believe this... But it is very likely due to you eating more food. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using proboards

so I have played 3 hockey games in 24h, and have eaten and drank quite a bit as well. haven't stopped to figure out exactly what my intake was though, and will be drinking a little more tonight at the tournament party at the hotel - where I am also staying. no driving for me until tomorrow when I go home. will likely be taking the pup for a walk along the Canal when I get there, will totally need to loosen up the muscles by then. I haven't skated since late January, and the first game last night was stupid fast paced and very physical. ouch. not going to bother with a scale for as few days, bc I haven't had nearly enough water, and my salt content is way higher than normal too. between that and the approaching TOM, I don't even want to know. my clothes are all still loose, so I don't really care, either. enjoy the rest of your weekend, ladies! sent from my electronic distraction

I'm so tired today. Yesterday was interesting. In the morning after I took the dogs out- I still have to carry the little one up and down the stairs- I accidentally left the back door open all day. I brought her upstairs and shut the door from the stairs to the main part of the house to keep her from getting back out, and then I just forgot to go back down to do it. Around 8pm I heard a knock on the upstairs door that freaked me out mainly because I always thought the dogs would hear someone before they got that far in the house. I open the door and there is this random German guy in the house saying in broken English that someone called him to come check because my door had been open all day. I was completely embarrassed at first, but told him I was fine and thanked him for looking in, and then followed him downstairs to shut the door. I was a bit bothered that someone just came into the house. Why didn't he ring the doorbell first? If my neighbors were worried why didn't they ring the doorbell? I thought it was the landlord's grandkid, but I wasn't sure because normally we deal with the landlord's son whose English is better. And if it was the landlord's grandkid why didn't someone just call the house? So I called DH who is of course gone right now, and won't be home for a few weeks because of Army training. He picks up and says, oh the landlord's son just called and to let him know they sent his son to the house. I can only chalk this up to differences in culture. Germans don't typically intrude in your personal/home life, but this is an older neighborhood so people do notice when things aren't normal. And I should be happy that people are paying attention and that they sent someone to check on me, but I am embarrassed about looking flighty to the neighbors. What kind of lazy idiot leaves their door open all day? My neighbors are all at least a generation older than me, they speak the Bavarian dialect to each other and almost no English. And my bit of high German is not enough to communicate so I can't explain myself. And I am sure no one even cares, this is just my baggage of not wanting to look stupid to people. I couldn't sleep all night because I was thinking about what could have happened if someone had wanted to get into the house, and DH isn't here. When the US army is training over here it usually draws out anti-americans and petty criminals, so we are always warned to be more careful. Way to go My car keys were on the table right by the door so someone could have taken my car if they'd wanted. So how this relates to my health is just that if hadn't been too lazy to walk my big dog I would have noticed the open door avoiding all the concern and inconvenience to other people. Plus now I don't feel like working out today because I am so tired. I had to run some errands for DH first thing this morning, and I've had enough coffee to keep me from being able to nap, but I feel like I am in a fog and I just want to sleep.

Oh man, bobo! Glad everything worked out okay for you! Soo freaky!
Just planned out this week's menu with DH. Roasted chicken and roasted veggies tonight, then up for the week, burgers with corn on the cob and salad, grilled chicken salad, taco salad, grilled chicken with fresh grean beans and potatoes, and finally an apricot pulled pork... Not sure about the side for this yet. I'll be mixing up some homemade dressings today.

thanks sarcasticgirlI did end up lifting weights today, but I've started a different program New Rules of Lifting for Women. Well, I'm restarting it, coming off of one of those 5x5 heavy lift programs. So going back to low sets high reps was harder than I expected to be. Even when I dropped my weights down a lot. I think I'll be sore tomorrow as my legs are feeling a bit weak right now even. I'm also trying to eat up leftovers since DH isn't here to hoover them away. I ate most of a cantaloupe plus a bowl of roasted root vegetables- carrot, potatoes, and radishes, but had no room for the roasted chicken or anything else so far today except 2 cups of coffee and some water. I don't always have a big appetite after weight lifting. It's 5pm and I have no desire to eat dinner, but hopefully I can choke down some more of those veggies in a couple of hours because I do need to eat something.

bobosensei how do you like that lifting program? I need to get back into weights. I was so much leaner when I did weights. I remember being this same weight 5 years ago but a size smaller.

bobosensei how do you like that lifting program? I need to get back into weights. I was so much leaner when I did weights. I remember being this same weight 5 years ago but a size smaller. I'm not sure how much you know about it, but the basic idea is that there are seven stages with each stage lasting 3-8 weeks. You start with lower sets and higher reps, and build to more sets lower reps and higher weight. There is one stage that is optional towards the end which works on being able to do unassisted pull ups. I did this workout program once before about 9 months ago and I skipped the section to help with pullups. I noticed gains in strength, but at the time I didn't have a barbell and olympic weight set so the amount I could do on squats and lunges etc. was limited to what I could hold- not what I could do. For example with dumbbells I max out at holding 25 or 30 pounds in each hand, and only for a certain amount of time, but with a barbell I can deadlift 135 and squat 115, no issues. With the New Rules of Lifting program I didn't lose any weight on the scale and my pants started to feel tighter. So I did get somewhat discouraged, but the book says you are building muscle and you aren't supposed to restrict calories too much. But your clothes are supposed to fit looser which didn't happen for me. They give you some formulas to follow and ways to calculate how much to eat, but I did not follow the specific meal suggestions. In particular I am just not willing to do protein powder. My appetite ranged from nonexistent on lift days to ravenous on rest days, but I wonder if lifting in the evening would have improved my appetite on lifting days. I slept well during this time too. I got a little bored with the repetitive exercises. The entire program is lengthy a good 6 months at least, and once you get into the second stage of workouts you realize you are basically doing the same moves just reordered or recombined in different sets. But it is still effective, and in the beginning it is quick to get through a workout because you only rest 60 seconds and there are few sets to do. Later stages have you resting 75-90 seconds and you are doing more sets of lower reps so it can feel like you are wasting time. But you need to be working out hard enough to need that full rest time. I was working out in a gym the first time around so towards the end I would be spending more than an hour at the gym, even close to 2 if it was busy and I couldn't get certain equipment. That was part of what drove me to getting dumbbells and later a half rack and olympic weight set. I am going to give it one more go, and see how it turns out now that I can really push my limits. I'll also be eating more protein this time around because last time I was going through this meat diversion and got my protein from beans. So I hope I will have more of a transformation with gaining muscle and becoming a smaller size even if there isn't much budging down on the scale. I'm 5'8" and about 182 again which puts me in a size 12. I don't mind the scale number as much as the clothing size, but at this point I am not sure how low my scale weight will ever get. For now I am cutting out all alcohol and trying to up my water intake as much as I can because last time as soon as I started lifting the scales when up a few pounds and didn't drop until I finished the program. I know my muscles were retaining water so I hope drinking more will help.

Omg! Pat, I am so glad you are ok! Please take care of yourself. Can you get an emergency contact system for DD? One of those life alert buttons or something so all she has to do is push it? Or can she use a smart phone?
