I made it out for a 30 minute walk at lunch. I'm so happy to be able to take a nice walk without worrying about frostbite! LOL. I didn't work out this morning-I had a rough weekend and just didn't want to over do it. Hopefully I still make my 10k step goal today though. This sunshine is really helping my mood!!

Me too!!! I hit up DSW for some shoes to walk in... i needed new commuting shoes anyway... hit target for some socks and a few other things. Dropped everything off at the office and got in a 30 minute walk. I even took off my coat while I walked. The sunshine was great! I felt very invigorated!

My nifty new scale said 188 a couple of days ago...I thought, yea me! The next day it said 191. 10K steps and carefully watching what I eat and I gained 3 pounds? I don't think so Tim. I've gone back to using my old one, it seems to give me the correct info without swings of 1-3 #s per day. Even getting on/off ten minutes apart I can gain 2#.
That was $36 for nothing.

I'm only staying up long enough tonight to catch Paul Pfau's blind audition for the Voice. he was supposed to sail my cruise last month, but had to cancel due to filming schedules. fingers crossed he makes it! but I'm wiped out from today and have a stupid early day again tomorrow. I'm absolutely looking forward to calling it a night tonight. oh, and when I got home tonight, I said to S - let's go to the Canal. I need some time in my happy place to further calm myself down from today's BS. it was awesome out there. I cannot wait until it's warm enough to walk that path every night of the week.

I figured with daylight savings time and being able to bring work home in the evenings I should start trying to at least take a walk each day since I won't be stuck in the office so much. I only managed a couple of miles. It was sunny and gorgeous, but 18 degrees and more than a slight breeze. May need to invest in some wind pants if this keeps up!

Yesterday was awful. We did do the hike and ended up on the trail for 5 hours. Originally DH miscalculated the distance so about 3km in we realized we were in for about a 3.5 hour hike which was about twice as long as I wanted to be out. It was nice day though, so we thought what the heck. But at the end of the trail DH got us turned around because he thought the trail was incorrectly marked which occasionally happens, but it added 90 minutes to the hike and 2 brutal climbs that were totally unnecessary. We had no food at home, and because we were out so much later than expected the stores were closed and we couldn't stop to get anything. I wouldn't have been able to stand to cook anyway. Much of the trail was covered with down pine trees so the terrain was more difficult to navigate than it usually is. We couldn't take any rest breaks because we had no headlamps and were trying to make it to the car before the sun went down which we just barely did. If we'd taken any breaks toward the start we would have been screwed when we got turned around. There wouldn't have been a way to see the trail markers. DH was fussing about my lack of preparedness (I had to eat his emergency clif bar), and I was mad that he decided to not follow the markers which added to our hike. I did learn a lesson about having back up food, water, and emergency supplies though. I've always known this was important, but because we typically hike short distances during the day on well marked trails, I never thought we actually needed to follow that advice. Boy was I wrong. Today I am taking a break from working out! Though I will have to crawl through the grocery store at a snail's pace to get some food. I am going to roast a chicken and potatoes. That way I can lay down and watch tv while it cooks

bobosensei - oh man! glad you are okay! I have learned my lesson as well and always carry water and granola bars at the very least. I got in two miles at lunch time... I'm currently trying to force down my salad, but i don't want it. I picked out all the chicken, so at least i have protein!

I worked out this morning, but canceled that "good" out by going to Chipotle for lunch. I have no idea what's on tap for dinner, which usually means we will go out somewhere. The only good part about that is it means a walk outside. Eh, whatever, sometimes it's worth it to "cheat" on the diet front!
sarcasticgirl: Since you posted about DSW yesterday, that's all I can think about! I will finally have time to make it over lunch tomorrow, so I'm going to get a small walk in on my way there/back. I can't wait to start wearing cute spring/summer shoes again!

flamingo I tried to go in with blinders on and go straight down the escalator to the gym shoes. I did peak and there were so many cute sandals up right front! I had to check out downstairs to avoid the temptation of walking through all of them to get to the front check out counter. I want to wear them NOW NOW NOW... but we all know it will be another 2 months at least! I am so sick of boots!

I just came back from my walk. This is the first time I added the neighborhood cul-de-sac onto the walk. Bundled up but comfy. Had a salad for dinner with radishes, orange/red/yellow peppers, baby carrots and some left over meat loaf for the protein. Used a measured 2T of Lite salad dressing and topped it all with 2 T of those fried onion rings.
Lunch was a can of heart healthy tortilla chicken soup and breakfast was a bowl of Post Raisin Bran just for something different.
Tomorrow morning is my first "device" check for my pacemaker. Will d/l the last 90 days of activity. Hopeful all looks good and no tweaks will be necessary.

Went for another walk tonight and went a little further than last night. It's a lot colder and windier than it was yesterday! I tried jogging a bit but need to work up to that...it's so cold my butt feels like a frozen butterball turkey and I couldn't feel my legs enough to tell if they were bending properly. Decided it was stupid to try jogging at this point until it warms up or I get the proper cold weather gear.

You've inspired me to use the radishes I bought last week. I still don't know why I bought them as I normally don't eat them, but they looked nice and I figured variety is good for you. But I haven't been motivated to eat them yet. msventoux- get some cold weather gear! I have a long sleeved nike dri fit top made for cold weather that I wear under a polar fleece when it is cold (around freezing or just below). I really like it. Anything colder and I add another layer, anything warmer and I do the polar fleece with a wicking tee shirt. I normally just use thick yoga pants on bottom, but if I am just walking and it is really cold and I plan to be out a while I will layer long underwear under the yoga pants. And thick wool socks are a must too. It is hard getting started in the cold weather, but it feels exhilarating at the end.

I knew the 188# was wrong at the time. I wish however I could get past the 190#. Even with all the good stuff I think I'm doing that scale just doesn't move. I think I'd have a little more enthusiasm if that scale would cooperate.

Radishes - awesome low-carb sub for potatoes! We had them on Sunday with a pot roast. YUM! They can also be diced up & cooked like hash-browns for breakfast Took the kids on a jog Monday night. I barely made it down the block before I had to stop & walk. Seriously out of shape here! I need to be able to do 4 miles in 6 more weeks, so it's time to get crackin'!

I'm going to try and be more serious about the water this week. I gave it a half-assed effort last week, but probably only drank a third of what I should have.

I got my FitBit Charge HR and got it set up. I'm anxiously awaiting my new phone so I can sync it via the app. After that I think I will do a better job tracking water and some other stuff.
I think the step count is a little off but anyway it said I had 15k steps yesterday and 21 flights of steps. DC metro and their non working escalators are to blame for some of those flights!

No where near that at the moment. I think I only have one day with more than 10,000 steps. Off to get in a few more steps.

It's even colder and windier tonight so I'm not going out there. Instead I looked around for some appropriate gear locally, but they want way too much money compared to what I had previously looked at online. I was moving quickly enough last night that my torso stayed warm and my feet were fine, but I definitely need something else for my legs and some type of face covering.

Ok, so the weight loss thing seems excruciatingly slow, it seems like I'm eating thousands of calories less every week AND working off thousands more, without much happening...but I did notice today that it's a lot easier to put on my ESD foot straps at work. A lot of my extra weight is in my belly. After my youngest was born my stomach just stayed big. I seriously look 5 months pregnant. Of course, it's not something people notice because I'm also pretty busty and wear baggy sweaters and sweatshirts most of the time. The boobs stick out farther than the belly! A few people I told that I was trying to lose weight were like "no way do you have 23 pounds to even lose". Yes. I. Do. Anyhow, much easier to do the shoe/sock thing now. I should have taken measurements. Loss of inches might have been more motivating.

Just 1.1 lbs away from my first goal and milestone. I'm likely to hit that on Monday when I weigh in again but we all shared weight loss this week (I'm in a particular group and we're 7 weeks in) and I've lost more than any of the other women and am almost on par with the men's weight loss so I can't be too upset.
By the time I leave for Mexico I wanted to be down 40 lbs. It'll be close but I think I can make it.

My allergies are KILLING ME lately. I made the decision today to go back to Paleo eating. Cutting out grains, sugar and dairy. I can't deal with another miserable spring/summer like i had last year with my allergies... so I just have to take the time to prep and do it. I know the first 2 weeks will be rough (kicking cravings), but I just have to keep in mind how great I will feel after that.
I also haven't been getting in enough water, strange for me because that isn't usually a problem. I am going to track my water daily and make sure it is. I am sensitive to salt and bloat up when I don't have enough water.

I'm at the same weight, damn. DD and I drank like 3 bottles of water this morning to get blood drawn. Couldn't get either of us so finally sent us to the hospital lab. It was packed we didn't get home till 1:30, a whole day wasted. They like to never got DD's, poor thing. Request they get one of these (we need to sell more). www.accuvein.com/products/catalog/av400-vein-viewing-system/

They used one of those on baby J at the hospital, MPL. Still stuck him 4 times and blew out veins in each arm & leg before going into his head But that light was pretty darn cool at least.
