I'm not crazy about water either but I drink it in the evenings. I try not to drink a lot too late in the day because then I wake up in the middle of the night and have to go to the bathroom. I've had 2 liters of water today which is what I like to get for a normal day, but I also exercised and drank about a liter right after the gym. I feel like I need more on days I am active. My head hurts a little so I think I am dehydrated, but I just can't force down any more water right now. Maybe in an hour or so, but I don't want to drink more than a few cups because I don't want to wake up in the middle of the night. Edited to add that it's already 6:42pm here in Germany.

I've decided to start incorporating water into my "get fit" campaign. I hate water. But, I put a 32 ounce bottle at my desk this morning, and I'm going to force myself to finish it before I leave today. I do have some Propel packs and I'm considering spiking it, but I probably shouldn't... Water definitely helps. I drink water and tea all day. Usually around 80oz a day. I am on vacay now and finding it difficult to get all my water in and I can certainly feel the difference! I have a 32 oz bottle at work that I fill up twice... And a 16oz mug that I use for tea on my way to work. I know that I just have to get those in, and I am good. I usually add in more water and green tea. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using proboards

I finished the 32 ounces, but it was hard! It's just not my thing. My goal is to go to twice a day on that bottle. One before lunch and one after. I'll be satisfied with one a day for a while though. On another note. I don't seem to be as hungry all the time anymore. I don't know if I'm eating better or just getting used to eating less, but I'm not craving food all day like I was. Last night I made peanut butter rice crispy bars with chocolate on top to sell at a scout function and just had a small piece when the kids were sampling and didn't go back and raid the container after they were in bed. That's a big deal for me!

MPL, when I was in college and dropped a ton of weight, it was largely due to all the water I was drinking. this isn't the healthiest way to go about it, but b/c I felt "full" all the time from the water, I was barely eating. obviously don't go that extreme, not that I was doing it on purpose either, but there you go.
for me, I need to work on getting more water when I'm not at the office. it's really easy for me there, I have a 1L bottle on my desk that I just refill as needed. I try to get through it twice a day, but am okay with less. on Fridays (working from home) and the weekends, I barely drink any water. that has to change.

Our bodies often mistake thirst for hunger. Sometimes drinking 8-16 oz of water and waiting 15 minutes will make you realize you aren't hungry at all.

I'm doing much better with the water today. Just a little two hours in and I've almost finished my first liter. Lots of ice helps. EVERYONE preaches the water thing for losing weight and getting fit, so I know I need to, but I sure struggle with it. I'm a Diet Pepsi addict.

well think of the ounces in it, 1 cup 8 ounces and 2/3 about 6 ounces, so 14 ounces, close to a pound, but most will go away.
I am SO EXCITED, went ahead and weighed this morning and I'm still at 179, so I'm starting out where I stopped. Must be a good sign I hope. I weighed on both scales, my tiny one was .4 more, the big one with slide weights was 179.
I have been eating quite a bit so I'm surprised, of course nothing lost in the last week or so. Here's hoping I'm back on track.
An ounce of volume measurement (like 8 ounces in a cup) is completely different than an ounce of weight/mass measurement (16 ounces in a pound). It's a common mistake among normal people (non-scientists).

Pat - you need to eat more than that! Really! It will help you lose weight to eat more, since your body won't think you are starving. You need some source of protein with every meal. Get a lean chicken breast in with your veggies tonight. Add an egg to your waffle tomorrow.
Tonight's THM dinner is pork chops, green beans, and potatoes (only 1/2c of those for me). I seasoned them with butter and italian seasoning. Can't wait!

Ugg, water, I could do so much better. Over the summer I do quite well, it's the school year that I don't drink at all. I start teaching at 7:55am. My pottie break is at 10:20am. Then I teach until 1:40pm. And trust me, you don't leave 30, 11- and 12- year olds alone in a science room.

We're eating at a fish fry tonight. It's the main fundraising activity for my son's scout troop, so besides donating desserts and my son working it, I figured I'd better buy tickets for younger son and I to eat as well. I'm sure it's going to be really good and really fattening. Batter fried cod and french fries (or a baked potato).

Well if you initially drink 8 ounces and weigh immediately guess what you will have added 8 ounces to that weight. Now pee a few times and it will be different, from a non scientific type And of course it will not add 8 ounces of weight.
I made popcorn cornbread tonight. It's delicious stuff, may have a fried egg with it. I'm getting enough protein believe me.
If you are eating what you post, you are eating very little protein. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using proboards

You need about 100g per day. At least add in some protein shakes. Walmart sells Body Fortress brand whey isolate that I use - 30g per scoop. No sugar (uses splenda) so the carbs and calories are very low.

do you like beans, pat? those are another good source of protein. a lazy dinner night for me is a bowl of black beans and rice, topped with a diced tomato. easy, cheap, and high protein. here's a decent list to start, for non-meat protein sources: Cooking Light link

I have had a fruit ever day, but I am missing fresh veggies! I had green Beens on Wed. And salad with cucumbers and carrots and corn on Thursday, otherwise, I have only had potatoes. There just arent an abundance of choices.
Am planning some ministrone and salads when we return next week.

I can tell you that 20 years ago when I was 140lbs, I was a size 5/6 in pants
Today at around 200, I am a size 14 in pants.
It all depends on how you carry your weight and how much of your mass is muscle. A pound of muscle takes up much less space than a pound of fat. That is why strength is so important. I personally have lost an entire size without losing an ounce through strength. I lost fat, gained muscle and shrunk my body without the scale moving at all.

Sure I have pinto beans, great northern, things like that and green beans, chick peas.
I bought half pound of salmon for tomorrow again.
HOLY SMOKES!! I BOUGHT A PAIR OF SIZE 12 JEANS TO WORK TOWARD. BROUGHT THEM HOME AND DD AND I WERE LAUGHING AND I WANTED TO SEE IF I COULD GET ONE LEG IN THEM. WELL, NOT ONLY DID I GET BOTH LEGS IN I ZIPPED THEM UP!!!! The thighs and hips are fine, the waist is ok and I CAN WEAR THEM NOW BUT A BIT TO MUCH MUFFIN TOP IN FRONT, WITH A SWEATER ON ITS NOT NOTICEABLE BUT I'M NOT WEARING THEM TILL ITS SMOOTH, I FIGURE ABOUT 170 WILL DO IT. I HATE SEEING GIRLS SPILL OVER AT THE TOP, DON'T THEY REALIZE THAT DOESN'T LOOK GOOD?
AT THIS RATE I'M WONDERING IF 160 POUNDS WILL BE A SIZE 10?? THESE SIZES ARE WAY OFF, THAT WOULD LIKELY BE A 14 MANY YEARS AGO. But hey a 14 wouldn't upset me. I bought a couple of size 40 bras. I bought all those pretty ones never dreaming I could lose a lot of weight. Some of them I can wear with no issue, but a couple I likely won't be able to wear.
I can't remember being a 10, that would have been before or right after I was married, come to think of it don't think I was back then, remember vanity sizing started going crazy at some point. I think I was a size 12 at 121 pounds and now I can wear a size 12 at 177? That's over a 50 pound difference. They have sizes so screwed now it has really done a disservice to women. Many think they are small and they really aren't. At this rate what would 140 pounds be in todays sizes? That's crazy. The most I've ever weighed (not including pregnancies) was 143 and that was within the last year. The biggest pants size I've ever been able to fit was an 8 at around 140 lbs, but even then, some 6's still fit better. I was around 125 until I got close to my 30's, what I was gaining on the scale was probably some muscle because I'd gone from sitting on my butt all day at work and at home, to working a job that had me on my feet all day lifting, pushing and pulling heavy stuff. Still, I can't imagine that being a size 12 back in the day. IIRC, I was still a 4 and mostly stayed there until I started getting closer to 140 lbs.

We use to have huge scales at work and I've gotten on them several times to prove I wasn't joking. One time when I got on the scale, the guy that didn't believe me said I must have heavy bones. Lol! Some of the weight has to be muscle just because of the nature of my job and I guess the rest of it is just the way I'm built that makes me look smaller or whatever. Or maybe I do have heavy bones lol. I'm also stronger than people expect me to be. It's still funny that people look at me and insist I cant weigh more than maybe 110 lbs and think I'm exaggerating about my weight. Ummm.... what woman is going to do that?

Well, I made it back from vacation. I'm a bit afraid to get on the scale. My biggest problem was the alcohol. Everything was high cal/full sugar drinks. When at home, my DH and I make our own drinks which don't involve sugary mixes. We did manage to average 10k steps 5 of the 7 days we were there. We pigged out on pizza tonight-we needed something supremely American that didn't involve fish, chicken, refried beans or tortilla chips!
Tomorrow, it's back on the wagon. Having a full week off of everything to spend in the sun is helping me feel like I am ready to get back to my routine.

It's really hard to not overeat when I'm spending the entire day cooking for two boys. I've been doing pretty good though. I haven't eaten any of the bars left over from the stuff I made for the bake sale today...which has been killing me! I only let myself slip for breakfast when we had buttermilk pancakes and bacon. For lunch I had a piece of cod (albeit batter fried) and a bit of rice. Dinner, not sure if I'm going to have enchiladas with them, or just have a turkey sandwich. The work week is easier to control the eating. I did put in 22K steps yesterday though.

AACK! There are doughnuts everywhere here today! I think 5 different people had birthdays. The lady in the cube next to me brought in homemade cinnamon rolls. They made popcorn in HR...

I have managed to avoid any of the bake goods so far! I've had lunch now, so it's not nearly as tempting, but I sure wish they'd hurry up and finish off all those boxes! It drives me bonkers walking past them several times an hour. We have the most awesome bakery in MN in our town and of course that's where they're all from, but I know they have to have tons of calories and fat in one of them. Even the box is just a grease spot on the bottom from where they were sitting.

I thought you had a couple trucks? Don't you have a 4 wheel drive? I have snow tires on my van and that puppy can get through some pretty deep stuff. Not like I did with my 3/4 ton truck back in the day, but haven't been stranded yet. (knock on wood) My driveway is about 300 feet long and I just have a big-assed snow blower. Like the biggest one Sears makes. We haven't had any 3 feet deep snowfalls, but up to about 2 feet it's great. It can handle over that and I do with the drifts, but it's a matter of going underneath then letting the top fall in and going over it again.

Feeling FAT! Ugh been very up and down the last 2 weeks....one morning I am 186 then next I am 190. Makes me feel like . I am leaving for a trip to Laughlin/Vegas in 6 days. I am trying to be super good until then so I don't feel like total junk on the trip as I know there will be lots of yummy food and LOTS of naughty drinks..... I have tons to do before then, so am hoping to just keep busy, focus on healthy snacks and water (NO POP) and be under 185 the morning we leave. Which bums me out cause I was hoping to be at 170. MAJOR FAIL! My BF is such a good influence on my life in so many areas.....but food he is a TERRIBLE influence and I just go with the flow way too much as far as what and when he wants to eat. He weighs almost 100lbs more then me....I CANT eat what he eats....and I NEED to remember that! I got some "Goal" shorts that are so adorable and I am so excited to wear them this summer....I can put them on and zip/button, but def not comfy and would have to hear something flowy to hide muffin top. So they are my goal for now, to be able to wear those with a normal tank top. So bummed at my lack of consistency and self control after I started so strong. Just have to keep trying and focus!

I got on the new scale this AM (before coffee) it said 192. Stepped off, waited until it shut off, got back on, it said 191. This thing is really not worth the money I paid for it.
I read my medical records from being in the hospital in Dec. they said my weight was 202. Funny, unless the bed weighs people, I was not to my knowledge ever on a the scale. OH, if those records are correct, I've lost 11 #s.

Week 4 of my 23 pounds in 23 weeks challenge is complete. Forty miles walking in sub zero weather, turning down all the doughnuts and treats at work and keeping MFP calorie count to around 1300 every day and I lost.....ZERO. I'm a little bummed, but still on track.
7/23 pounds lost 4/23 weeks down
