I love hugs. Hugs show you love someone. My SIL gave me this cheesy hug yesterday, seriously I have been married to her brother for 20 years and I get a barely hug. I am offended, if you don't want to hug like you mean it then stop hugging.  |

I am not a hugger. I love to hug a guy I'm dating, but anyone else, please don't hug me!! It's hard to be a "non-hugger" and get trapped in a hug, I'm not good at "faking" one. I also almost never, ever offer one unless it is someone I know really well and their loved one died or something.
Oh, I guess there is an odd former-coworker I would hug too, but really, the list is short.

Naggie the truth is that some people just aren't huggers (I know because I'm not one). Hugging just doesn't come easy for them. My ex once chewed me out because I didn't hug her SIL (like a sister to her) back when she hugged me. She was wearing a night gown & we were leaving & in the front yard. Even if I was a hugger I wouldn't have hugged her because she was wearing almost nothing & we were in the front yard.
My comeback was I didn't want to make a habit of hugging mostly naked women but that I would try if she wanted me too. (Made her mad & still didn't get my point across but that was usual with our communication). Anyway I have to be REAL comfortable with someone before being touched by them so hugging is not a natural act for me & it may not be for your SIL.

I'm not much of a hugger either. I was raised to bow to elders and I have to catch myself from bowing, kinda embarrassing catching myself halfway though.

It makes me feel much better to know that I am not alone in the fact that I really don't like people to hug me and I will never initiate a hug. I am not even all that crazy about touching.....unless I know you well.
I was working in an office one time when the manager came out and started rubbing and playing with the hair of one of the new employees. It was just so inappropriate - thank god she didn't do it to me or I would have lodged a complaint.

It was hardest for me in high school--all the other girls were real big huggers. Now pretty much everyone knows I don't like being touched--few people can "get away with it."

I don't like being hugged unless it's a close friend or family member. One of my co-workers is a chronic toucher, and I try to avoid her at all costs.

I like to hug most people but I know some people really dislike being hugged and I respect their desire. Hugs aren't an expression of love if you give them to someone who doesn't want one.  |
