In a convoluted way, yes, the prayers did work. Remember no one prayed for someone to die, the prayer was for IF someone's time had come, please let them be an O.

So your prayers worked (sorry, that still cracks me up) I tend to think of it as praying for the family left behind to make a positive decision. Hmmm, I think that could be worded better but I'm assuming you all get what I mean.

Hmmm, I think that could be worded better but I'm assuming you all get what I mean. Of course. My mother, who was an organ donor, always considered the procedure as the ultimate form of recycling. Sadly, none of her was in good enough condition for donation when she passed. I am an organ donor as well, because a dear friend and colleague died waiting for a heart. He liked M&Ms candy. I cannot eat those without thinking of him, and what he would have accomplished with more time. I hope this is the one, Zib.

Hmmm, I think that could be worded better but I'm assuming you all get what I mean. It wasn't about that part. The person had to be in the right area and be the right blood type. Of course it was based on them passing away anyway and not specifically for this purpose.

Thank you all. Trying not to get too hopeful. The nurses say you can get plenty of false alarms before you get the new heart. Argh.

Still waiting to see if surgery is a go. He's prepped but doctor can "call off" at last minute if he thinks heart isn't right for him.

Thank you. Prep is awful but I'm sure less awful than a rejected transplant.

Prayers and good ju-ju for your DF, Zib.
(My dad was the grateful recipient of a new heart and it gave him many more years to be with us. He was also fortunate enougho receive new corneas).
The person who freely pre-arranges to donate their heart (or other organs) so another can live on after them, is the true hero and angel.

Surgery is at 6pm if the heart matches. A 6-12 hour surgery.

Good luck to your DF. I hope it's a match for him and surgery goes smoothly.

I had open heart surgery back in 2001. Heart transplants are a part of my clinic. It's a major surgery.

Oh my - how did I not see this until now?! Anyway, yes, good luck! When will you know if the heart is a match? Obviously, I get that you're a bit busy so I'll just anxiously await your next update!
