If they could have beamed Gwen out of my uterus a la Star Trek I would have been the happiest woman alive.
The "true birth experience" is overrated.
Whenever someone likes to get on that rant I like to shut them up by announcing my birth experience was perfectly textbook. Try getting over that bar.

Whoa!! I don't care whether anyone formula feeds. And I don't care if my SIL formula feeds or not. The issue is why she felt the need to corner me and talk to me about why she wants to formula feed for 45 minutes while I sat in silence nodding. That was the rant! I think that you might be doing some projection here. I suspect that it didn't really matter what topic she was ranting about......you're response might have been about the same. From reading many of your posts, you strike me as generally impatient, angry and mean-spirited. And, that for the most part, you don't like other humans.....just my personal observation...carry on.

I want my grandma's birth experience. She said they knocked her out, she woke up and the baby was there.

My first was emergency C. They didn't allow me to have my 2nd vaginally, even though by the time they got around to the C (he was early and fast), I had gone through labor and pushing because I just couldn't help it.
I was fine with the first C section, but annoyed with the 2nd. By that point, I may as well have just pushed him the rest of the way out. Eh, oh well. Doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things, as they both made it out safely.

It makes me sad that this is such a war between mommies. Like you don't have enough problems when you're hemorrhaging out of your nether regions, haven't slept in a month, and you still look 6 months pregnant. People should just do what is right for them and their circumstances. That is exactly the reason we NEED to judge new moms. They are not with it enough to always do what is right. They may be taking the easy way out just because they are tired, rather than doing what is best for their baby. It is our duty as the general population to ensure that new moms don't take the easy way out. Archie, I am not sure your survival instinct is quite up to par.

I want my grandma's birth experience. She said they knocked her out, she woke up and the baby was there. That was my mom's birth experience! I got what she wanted - natural drug-free (not by choice, because I delivered within 30 minutes of getting into a hospital bed). I wanted meds! I didn't think it was terrible - of course I had a 5.5 lb baby with an 11 inch head so she was tiny. I thought running my only marathon in 90 degree Florida heat on a highway with the stomach flu was way worse.

I freaked a lot of random people out when they'd ask me what my birth plan was and I responded "F if I know". Mine's going to be : Enter hospital with baby in tummy, leave hospital with baby in arms.

You are planning to eat your baby and then have the doctors inject the digested remains into your forearms. That is just sick, man.

It's only the most nutritionaly complete product on the market, DQ. And only $150/month for what is essentially a protein shake + multivitamin.
ETA - swamp is much faster than I am. Must mean she's a better parent.

But it feels like there is so much pressure to give birth the "right" way and if you have a rough go of it that means something is "wrong" with you.
I got stuck in this one too, I'm ashamed to admit. Oh sure, I SAID my birth plan was "go to hospital / come home with baby / rest is details" but in reality, I had a vision of how it would go and it was a huge crash when it all went to hell. I think that reading about my acquaintance's multiple magical birth experiences warped my brain can someone please tell me what a "magical birth experience" is?

Fairy dust rains down from the ceiling and unicorns fart rainbows as you serenely lie back in a meadow of flowers while the baby gracefully exists the womb with no trace of gore/mess. Then all your loved ones crowd around you and bask in the awesome glory that is your womanhood/vagina.

I think it's the one where you wake up and a baby is there. You have nothing to brag about or be ashamed of.
